  • Honestly, I think this was an over-the-top episode, the moment this series jumped the shark. I love a miraculous ending as much as anyone, but it is so out of character for a show that always played up the family's ability to deal with sorrow. It just doesn't fit. Of course, it made me cry anyway...

  • yes is a ood episode but dont you think its rather far fetched that james would be comatose one second then completely up and about the next...??

  • I wish I could see his sisters face, when he goes home!!

  • Praise God for a happy ending!! It will be worth it all when we see Jesus!!

  • @DigiScrap34 and then you will see him for 1000 years and 10 000 years and 1 trillion years...and maybe at that point you will finally admit that heaven is the most boring fucking place imaginable.

  • So the old man was like an angel ? How moving

  • I don't get this episode Oo

  • This the longest running series in History.and it's no wonder why.Micheal Landon in said hinself.''I wanted !! to do a show of LOVE :) And he died a christian. He said ''I would get up in the morning about 5 am and just, and as the ideas came to me.i would start writing them down.

  • Thank You for Posting

  • @seekhim777 You're welcome and thanks for watching! :D

  • The special effects were of the chart !

  • does anyone know what episode that comes after this one?

btw loved this one, James is my favorite<3

  • @brandalynnn Yes, the epi is "Times are Changing." This epi also has a part 1 and 2. You can watch it on my channel. Just type in Times Are A Changing and enjoy. He Was Only 12, was the last epi of season 8 of LHOTP. Times are Changing is the 1st epi of season 9 of the series. Watch and enjoy! : D

  • Such a great episode. Thanks for sharing.

  • @jarlaithmorrison You're welcome!

  • This is one of the only Little House's that I think push the limits of the show's reality.

1:16 ? The Magic Lightning bolt and the glowing aura around the shrine and Charles? It's too unbelievable. Normally this show is full of faith, but it is the real kind of non-magic faith, where things can go either way and no one can say whether or not god interfered.

But this was straight-up ...magic. You know?

  • Jason has a good sense of humor. I wonder if he laughs about this episode now. It rivals in ridiculousness the season 5 episode "The Godsister" that featured Carrie so prominently. It's abundantly apparent the series was spiralling out of control by this point (end of season 8), thus leading to the many awkward changes (including the complete disappearance of the miraculously-restored James) that were made at the beginning of season 9.

  • @metatron1970 Everyone was gone in season 9, except for Laura and family, to my dismay.

  • Anybody know what happened to the 'James Cooper' character (played of course by the now-gorgeous Jason Bateman!). IMDB's website says nothing abou the plotline of the next episode (which was a new series apparently: Season 9, Episode 1: Times Are Changing: Part 1 - Original Air Date 27 September 1982). I'd love to know! Perhaps there is a fan-website for LHOTP that would tell me?

  • @InACountryGarden After this episode James, Cassandra, Carrie and Grace are never seen again.

  • @InACountryGarden For some unknown reason, they decided to change the show to focus on Laura, Almanzo, and their family, plus a new group of neighbors. Everyone else was written out. I was very upset when it happened. To this day, I don't know why they did it, or who's idea it was.

  • @snoops71 Thanks snoops71! Ah well, at least the *character* in 'L.H.O.T.P.' survived as per this episode of the programme, even if not appearing in the next episode/series. Anyway, Jason Bateman is lovely as an actor now too, so at least we get to see *him* again! :-)

  • Brought tears to my eyes! Gosh, I remember watching LHOTP as a kid! - (i) II always cried at its sad moments (=most of LHOTP's moments, then!) (ii) I hated blonde-curled baddie Nellie!! :-)

  • I love the storys of the Ingalls and their friends. But this episode is the most emotional story, and I watches it many times. Wonderful acting of Michael London !!!

  • Oops, mbt777, I just saw your post after posting my comment and you're so right.

And God shall wipe away all tears from off their faces.....

See you in Heaven in a little while!.

  • This is just fantastic!. And it's so good to see something decent and wholesome on youtube for a change.

Thankyou for posting it and I think the viewer count says many agree!.

  • This last part was totally ridiculous and ruined the whole double episode.

  • This epi was absolutely hilarious!

  • You people are idiots. The light was not truly purple. It had a mix of a kind of purple and a slight hint of pink. You can clearly see this by running the video through a spectro analyzer. Then you break each frame, down one at a time and then send the data to an output program especially made to filter color. It is so obvious that it is not Truly purple. Come on people.

You lean this kind of stuff on Blues clues.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! i haven't enough tisseus...its sooooo beautiful!

  • The tears are flowing.... I'm so glad Charles had unwavering faith in Jesus!! Even the REV.'s advise couldn't shake him..and I'm surprised the REV. even told him that he needed to let go and that he's never seen a miracle... WoW!

  • I don't remember that episode. Granted, it was a LONG LONG time ago, but I think I would have remembered an episode like this one. I'm not religious by any means, but that one had even me believing.

  • I'm not religious either. But this didn't have me believing at all... Of course, it was made probably when my parents were kids. ^_^ So I cannot expect it to be too good... I just thought it was kind of funny.

  • You guys... that wasn't god. That was clearly aliens. Didn't you see the purple light? Aliens.

  • So God couldn't possibly use purple light? Although I'm thinking he might use blue myself, but still, why not purple?

  • Think about it... if it had been god, the light would have contained glitter. "Glittering light?" you say, "Impossible!" Oh yes, with god, glittering light is possible, it seems... or something...

  • brb going 2 get some tissues i haven't cryed this much since sylvia part 2

  • good episode!!!!

  • i agree if u want a happy funny episode watch goodbye ms. wilder that one is funny!

  • my favorite episode :-) thx for the posting:-)

  • The music is so amazing, especially 3:45 on.

  • I've never seen this episode but let me tell you it gave me warm fuzzies! Thanks for posting! :-P

  • impresionante!!! veo este capítulo y no paro de llorar, es excelente!!! una verdadera muestra de la fuerza que tiene la fe y cómo no debemos perderla nunca!!!

  • They need to bring back shows like Little House and the Waltons, todays televsion shows have absolutley no morals or values, its all about sex and violence, they could throw survivor, two and a half men and the rest of those stupid shows right out the window and it wouldn't bother me.

  • i agree with u except 2 and half men thats a good show

  • @650kyle

7th Heaven was also a good show with morals and values. You learned a lot from watching. Unfortunately, that is also off the air now (canceled in 2007) after 11 years.

  • i agree exactly, these are really the only two shows i watch anymore (lhotp and walton's)

  • if any 1 doupts that god isint real then watch this eppisoide!

  • "if any 1 doupts that god isint real then watch this eppisoide! " A fictive show for all i know this is, not likely to stir anyone's faith if they really truly doubt His exsistance, but of course possible.

  • this made me cry so much. . . god is real, and nobody ever forget it!

  • in the next episode why do they move to winoka or wherever they move, (the new begging)

  • I was expecting the old dude to say something like "Charles-san! Remember, wax on, wax off."

  • OMG I GOT TEARS!!!

  • If only...If only If only If only we could live with people on this earth like that. What a wonderful world it would be...but kids don't appreciate thier parents and some parents don't appreciate their children and there is no respect, no love, nothing. It's a sad shame and all I can say is I'm so glad that I'm a Christian and that one fine day I will be with the ones I love and with the most important person in my life and that is Jesus. Praise God there will be an end to all suffering!

  • Well, I love my parents (i am 16) and they love me, so there are still children who love their parents ;)By the way, I'm a Christian too!

  • AMEN!

  • @mbt777 Amen!

  • wow i really thought james would die

  • I did too when I first saw this epi... It was such a powerful epi as well.

  • me too. i thought maybe charles wasn't so lucky in the end and didn't get James to come back

  • Also thought he would die. It was kinda sad too watch since Charles has always wanted a boy and their was James but then the accident happened.

  • Yet another classic. Makes me wonder...was there ever a bad episode of this show? Wait...no, don't answer that. I don't want to know.

  • I was going to ask you if you really wanted me to answer your question... lol

  • i would like to know. was there ever a bad episode??

  • Never

  • Serious? I've never heard or seen one so I'm going to assume that their has never been a bad episode.

  • Every episode was fucking CRAP.

  • Not every, in fact most of them are very good... but this one... ehm...

  • The whole series was a load of right-wing crap.

  • @PeterFirthFan Of what show?

  • oh wow! What an episode! It was like chicken noodle soup for the soul.. I have tears..

  • You're welcome AndersonGish! Don't worry, I will continue posting. : )

  • thanks

  • You're welcome AndersonGish! : )

  • Thanks so much for posting this.......I personally can relate to this story, last year I had a brain damage disease that crippled me and nearly killed me. The doctors did all they could do, but we believed in God and one night after extreme prayer like Charles, I was raised from my wheel chair completely healed. It's more than just a story. God still works miracles.

  • Hi there! You're welcome for the epi. But more importantly, thanks for sharing your story. It really touched me. It is simply amazing that you are alive and well today. Unbelieveable.... : ) Just goes to show that anything is possible in this world in which we live in.

  • You're welcome Bigmick284! : ) Yes, I do remember you. ; )

  • no James did not die

  • WOW- I've never seen anything like this epi before. Thank you very much emotional2000. I really appreciate it. Moreover, since I am a Christian, this episode how God honors people's faith and its faith that can work miracles. Its just a matter of holding onto God when everyone around you (even family members) give up hope and try to discourage you.

    Thank you once again

  • Hi hillsongunited! Its so nice to read a comment from you again... I am glad you enjoyed the epi and you're welcome for the vid. : )

  • i love this episode.

  • Yeah, this epi was in heavy demand by a lot of LHOP fans for me to show. I am glad you as well other fans were able to enjoy it.

  • Many people will say this is a weird episode, but here, Charles is the only one who has faith!

  • Yes, religion is such a touchy subject to some people. However, I am glad the show tackled the issue.

  • yes, you are right Charles was the only one who thought that everything would be alright, and he was right.

  • fantastic episode

  • That it is!

  • I definitely enjoyed it!
