I am rather happy that a serious scholar as Elena Phipps devoted studies to red cochenilea.

Too many times some highly important carpets, rugs or embroideries are presented as a kind of national product ... and each country claims it. This concept does not suit to reality. Most of times, for kings and Court, the wool or silk were coming from a region, red dye from Georgia or Armenia, design from somewhere else .. etc ...
