  • Beautiful prairie songbird...The lovely Joni Mitchell

  • Yes ~ according to the Profs Brian Cox and Steve Hawking ~ we are stardust, but Joni's brilliance links us back to Eden (fictitious or not), before Paradise was Lost

  • @SuperNevile

Don't forget the late great Carl Sagan, I think he first said that we are stardust. :)

  • better than Johnny Winter? I think not.

  • You know, The Garden is an ideal. People are practical, especially the idealists. A trip to Everest to visit Maharishi Mahesh Yogi might not be the answer. It wasn't all drugs and rock and roll in the sixties, you know. There were farms and agricultural communes and teachers and lawyers and journalists who shared those ideas, and there are still Gandhian Ashrams, and I think these people and places are still around. And there are still gardens. You just have to find them... or make them.

  • This is how music should be.

    Pure.

  • @Indac02: are you suggesting Joni Mitchell is now a Greedy Yuppy pulling corporate strings? Don't be cynical. Sure, hippies grew up to become a lot of different things including greedy. They were just people. That doesn't take away from the fact that for a short time they shone a beautiful eerie light that lit up deep crevasses in people's hearts they did not even know existed. It is still out there like the cosmic microwave background that fills the cosmos - the afterglow of the Big Bang. If y

  • @MariaAsplundMusic People have always been materialistic,You really think the rolling Stones/Beatles never made any money in the 60s?You have been fed a constant diet of hippy dippy free love so that you think everyone in the 60s was different?BS.They were not! in any event most of these young hippies are still around,How comes the world is not still hippy?Answer they turned into Greedy Yuppies in the 1980s and now in their 60s run the corporate world.Who changed the world for the worse?Hippies!

  • Peace Wish I knew you, I'm so lonely for like persons. Just & old hippy. I miss those days, there was so much love & caring ofr human beings. Joni us the best, I also liked Laura Neyru. If anyone would like to email me r.faustmann@mchsi.com

  • @jarretove Old hippies are awesome. Thank goodness we still have them around.

    Peace to you

  • It's not the music, it's not the singer , it's not the lyrics. I was there. It's a thought, a concept, a sense. It was a generational shift. You can say it's over. You can deny it.

It was a special moment for the country. It's still talked about. When you bring it up, you see and feel the same tjhing. A HUGE SMILE.

You had to be there to know it and feel it.

    Peace and Love Babe.

  • This is by far my most favorite version... all of them are great but she puts so much of her into this one for some reason...the ending is the most powerful of all the songs I've heard throughout my life!!!

  • I' m a Hippie too. I love all the Songs of Csn!!!!!!!

  • Anyone see David Crosby on stage--his image turns black and gold

  • Don't just get a kick out of the guy with the star on a stick around 1:20. What a time! I wonder if he found this on youtube and his kids / grand kids said holy sh.. grand dad that's you.

  • ohhh mann it won't play for me it plays til she says it has a chorus that goes......an thens tops :'( an this lookd like a rlly good version of her singing it...im tryin to get into the woodstock spirit for this weekend ;D

  • hippy half hour from yours truly

  • the ultimate cool chick.....

  • wow

  • This is still one of the best written songs of all time. It never ceases to amaze me when artists pen stuff like this. Where the hell does it come from? Ye gods I wish I had that gift.

  • @LeCutter it's just a thing with artists. But don't worry there are lots of singers who can't write and lots of writers that can't sing. The lucky ones can do both. Everyone is good at something, the trouble is finding it sometimes.

  • maybe it is just the time of year or maybe its the time of man. i don't know who i am, but i know life is for learning..... this is one of the most beautiful songs ever.

  • La bellissima versione di Joni Mitchell...

  • gonna join in a rock n roll band in a camp out on the land and get my soul free! magic..

  • is this from a longer film? love it.

  • @lxa3000 Yes..its called Celebration at Big Sur..not sure if is on DVD.

  • It means you are in the passenger seat....in a car, on a motorbike, not the driver...riding shotgun.

  • when she's going over the lyrics for the "singalong," she sounds like a first-grade teacher....

  • Woodstock Jimi Hendrix Janis Joplin Live 1969 Fuzztoneproductions

  • Burning with spiritual emotion - Joni Mitchell penned one of the most haunting and beautiful songs ever with 'Woodstock'.

  • We are stardust.. we are golden.. we have to get ourselves back to the garden... <3

  • yes right on we are star dust we are golden love love love.

  • Right on man.. Peace and lOVE!!!

  • I really love this late 60s early 70s hippie rock music and stuff, like JA, CNSY etc etc. But I'm really sorry but I just can't listen to this.

  • It's beautiful!

  • yah, but he's talking about the CSNY version on "Deja Vu"

  • A rare case where the cover is significantly better than the original.

  • really?

    both are equally as powerful!

  • Joni. Nothing ekse needs to be said?

  • And we sought to "get back to the garden" and sometimes we almost seemed to succeed, at least for a time, with some good acid, or some really good pot and good friends but those times were so fleeting, and as with Woodstock, attempts to recreate the same were often unsuccessful often badly as at Altmont. It seems that it is not given to us humans to find paradise on our own, apart from God. And yet Joni was wonderful, as were others when we were young and naive.

  • Please accept my friend invite. I LOVE what you said here!!

  • This is from "Celebration at Big Sur" (1971), a film of the 1969 Big Sur Folk Festival in Big Sur,CA, on Sept. 13-14, 1969, one month after Woodstock. "Big Sur" has never been officially released on VHS or DVD.

Thanks so very much for this HQ beauty.

  • Wonderful...absolutely great video...Joni is so special
