I'm sure I'm not imagining it. There was a scene where Eric, Ernie and Des appear at the top of some stairs and all three walk down, but where Eric and Ernie's staircase comes to an end, Des' stairs carry on and he disappears down into the stage...

Francis Matthews appeared on a few episodes of Morecambe & Wise, only the first 4 BBC series have been released on dvd, his next episode was in series 6. I've only got a small clip from UKGold's best of M&W show.
