  • A LITTLE TIP)) i started using this way of quarantining fish just a couple of drops of methylene blue in the bag of new fish left to stand 1/2 a hour flouting in the main tank don't no if it works but i don't lose fish this way and it sterilizes the water before adding to the main aquarium. good look. remember just a couple of drops i take no responsibility from fish deaths:) so if the shop keepers sends them already quarantining thy no need to for you to bother

  • As we package them up between 4-5pm and they are delivered before 1pm the next day, that is well inside their survival time. We have people forget they need to be in the house to collect them and collect them first thing the following morning from the postal depot and the fish have been fine.

  • Yes, they are another species which are happiest at room temperature.

  • No worries. I am in tomorrow.

  • Yes, very funny.

Please see my first response again, man.

  • Yes on the deliveries although there may be certain days we can't post but normal days as in my last reply.

Paradise fish are happiest at room temperature so they are at the low end of tropical. Provided they don't get too chilled by water changes they are OK in unheated tank (at room temperature)

  • We send them out on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for delivery before 1pm the following day. If delivered on a Saturday (posted on friday) there is and extra £3.

  • nice job!

  • May you find peace in your love of penis.

  • whats up with the creepy music ahaha

  • also do deliver to the north west england?

  • Anywhere in the UK including highlands and northern ireland, isle of wight etc..

  • how much is delivery?

  • Delivery starts from £9.95 and is based on weight. Please phone the shop for details and stock checking 01661 844 005

  • Special delivery is an overnight service (delivered before 1pm) We do package the fish up late afternoon and catch the last post so they spend the minimum time in bags but even if a delivery gets delayed until the afternoon, they are fine as we use 30+ hour heat packs, not the normal 20+ hour ones which most places use.

  • Hello Richard,

Your step by step instruction is very helpful. I was wondering whether it will work if I use the same method to pack discus fish overnight delivery.

P.S. It is winter here at the moment.

    Thanks in advance

  • It is the same method for all tropical fish, yes. Discus need quite a bit of water in so they are totally covered even if the package is stored on its end.

  • for goldfish you just wrap the bag with fish and oxygen tablet in bubble wrap and then in a box and send it since they arent tropical and can withstand cold without dying.

  • SCARY MUSIC!!! LOL!!!

  • Very helpful however heat packs need air flow to work so you should poke a hole in the styrofoam. I use reflective bubble wrap as my insulation material.

  • We tend to get the heat packs out up to an hour before packing to ensure that they are working. Sometimes they take an age to activate but we have to be sure that the reaction has started before sending just in case we get a dud one. Once the reaction which produces heat has started, it can't be stopped. Generally we put the packs outside the poly box (but inside the main box) but I filmed this in deep winter. Fish arrived at around 24 C which was great.

  • Do you use pure oxygen?

  • We use oxygenting tablets which dissolve over the course of the delivery. If we were sending lots of fish in the same bag then we would probably have to use pure O2. We never overstock the bags so this is a method that can be used by anyone sending fish overnight.

  • Do you take page 3 out of the newspaper first?? lol

  • Since I don't ever get a newspaper, we generally re-use the packaging that our fish are delivered from the wholesalers in. That means we get boring free papers with adverts for houses in surrey or stories about brave little Johnny who only has one leg but still ran the London marathon in 34 hours. Or foreign papers.

    No boobies. Boo.

  • @pondguru LMFAO!!!

  • nice vid, i've always wondered how people packaged live fish for shipment without the fish dieing

  • That is the way it should be done, not like some do, by the way Richard whats your thoughts on the nexus mini pod, I have 2000 gallon pond and use a kotney koi filter 4 bays and vortex which works very well, but it`s a bit of a nuisence when cleaning brushes and media, I know the 200 would be better but its room I am short of in my filter housing, the pod is only 23 inch high and would fit o k I could even double up and fit 2 in there.Any thoughts on it?

    Cheers

    Dave

  • Although we have sold the Nexus filters in the past, I can't escape the thought that they (and most new koi filters/products) are a case of the emperors new clothes. The principle of them is great and K1 does work very well at removing pollutants but the price of the filters is unreal when the same result can be gained by using the media in a plastic tank / barrel. If the input and outlets are meshed, the K1 won't escape. You could even convert one of the chambers in your existing filter.

  • Cheers Richard, It is food for thought, I know they are expensive probably cost a quater of that to produce, in fact I had one of the early bigger ones with the answer 7 years ago and I did get bacteria problems, but they have inproved since then and got dearer.

  • No worries, man.
