They are used as protection from hydraulic failure on most if not all construction & agricultural equipment.

Actually it doesn't work like that even if he shut off the engine while up there like that it would stay up there the hydraulic valving keeps the cylinders locked into place until pressure is increased or decreased. Now if there was a pressure line to one of the main cylinders that ruptured it would drop like a rock.

To everyone who thinks this was a serious video I assure you it was not that was a brand new machine and the video was posted by a JCB distributor it was a demo.
