I just want to say that I see no difference between polyamory and polygamy - and although I don't believe it's my place to police it, I definitely don't agree with it for my own lifestyle. I could never and would never be okay with it on a personal level. I can only ever love one person that way when my heart is involved. Interesting update from the news just now. Of the 53 girls between the ages of 13 and 17 taken from the cult, a full 31 have either had kids or are currently pregnant.
Does anyone think that all these teen girls are clamoring to have sex with their much older male relatives? And if anyone thinks this is anything other than a child-rape-cult, I invite you to think about those numbers for a moment.

While I do agree life at the FLDS ranch was bad and abuse did happen there I don't feel sorry for these women. They had a choice of leaving the ranch but didn't. They also didn't stay with their kids when given the chance. I only feel sorry for the kids.

Big mistake. I haven't heard any charges. What trauma for children. Is foster care better than a mother's love? G0 after the men, take the teenagers who want out, but not children. We look back in horror at sending Native American children to boarding school, the lynch mobs in the South, WWII Japenese-AMerican enternment camps. Now we ignore Geneva Convention, attack Iraq for oil or whatever and take children from their mothers. Will we ever just use common sense.

The lady who said she would want her daughter to wait until legal age, shows she was lying about underage girls being married; but I do not think the children should have been removed from their mothers. She became quite assertive at the end, but clearly brainwashed into beliefs by men.

The truth in its entirity will never be known, and to rely on the media to report in an unbiased manner is too much to extect.
This entire scenario is tragic. The little information we are permitted to have does not paint a pretty picture.
Sadly these people are mostly guilty of believing what they have been told. We should be careful not to fall into the same trap. For myself,If my children were taken from me I would be distressed just as these women must be.

Nope I am 100% positive that I am not brainwashed the way they are. I may be brainwashed into being a law abiding citizen and not a law breaking Polygamist who breaks the law because they don't see anything wrong with it. I just want to say that I see no difference between polyamory and polygamy - and although I don't believe it's my place to police it, I definitely don't agree with it for my own lifestyle. I could never and would never be okay with it on a personal level. I can only ever love one person that way when my heart is involved. But if other people want to go down that road NOT in a cult-like setting, that's their business.

You don't see women with multiple husbands in this type of a community/cult setting. That is a major red flag about these types of groups.
But should the children be taken away from their mothers? Normally I would say no - but the mothers are going to raise them to believe there is nothing wrong with sexual relations with older men - and they don't have the exposure to anything that would explain to them why it is unhealthy. So I agree with the state removing those kids from that environment.

Although polygamy is against the law on a state and federal level, I see nothing wrong with it if all parties involved are okay with it. However, the way they respond indicates they have been brainwashed to some degree. Also, entire communities like these are run very similar to cults. Men with multiple wives in a cult setting concerns me. You can raise kids to believe ANYTHING is normal and okay. These wives were obviously brought up that way themselves.

Freedom of religion, speech, or anything - only goes so far. If your "freedom" is encroaching upon someone else's "freedom" - you don't have that right. I don't see why polygamy should be illegal, though I don't agree with it...if it is done in a way where no one is harmed, who is anyone to make that illegal? But when underage girls are being forced into marriages with much older men, that they have no choice in, and being essentially raped in these marriages....then there's a problem.

I honestly can't get pass people who say this. No one went there to take their kids away because of their religion. They went there because the law was being broken. You can see these women need some help! Where is the makeup, the short skirts, the tattoo on the small of the back!? Hopefully their children will get some help. They need MTV, drugs, porno, rap/metal music, and alcohol. Maybe also some violent programming, like video games and cage-fighting, also. Many of their children do have them. Some choose to drink, listen to rap, do drugs, and so forth, but then some CHOOSE not to. Choice is a right that all Americans should have, and these people's religion should not exclude them from their rights.

Yeah, if you would have watched in on CNN you see how they just stare at the ground and answer each question. All have the same manerisms, answers, and same style of speech.
