@xXRyanXx58 watch a video called ''The History of Nikola Tesla - a Short Story'' it will answer your question...Yes indeed Edison was a thief who robbed a great scientist. You never heard of Nikola Tesla because allot of people are hiding the trough about him because of his nationality. Tesla was an important contributor to the birth of commercial electricity, and is best known for developing the modern alternating current (AC) electrical supply system.

Nevertheless, the extent of his contributions are being highly exaggerated by certain ppl. And everyone is entitled to his own opinion.
You're full of shit. You wouldn't even be able to type this if it weren't for Tesla.
The man is responsible for almost everything you're using now.. AC which is the current that's lighting up the whole world, radars, radio... Though Nobel prize for Radio went to Marconni, he made it via Tesla's papers.
Also, Nobel prize should have been shared with Tesla and Edison, but Tesla being a double greater man than Edison, declined that decision, Edison took it for himself. Tesla team!
@vampir94 AC makes long distance transmission viable. But electronic equipment requires DC voltages, they use circuits to obtain these from the mains-distributed AC. If it wasn’t for Shockley, Bardeen and Brattain you wouldn’t have your computer (or cellphone, ipod, etc) today. So, I don't really owe typing this to Tesla. Actually, Westinghouse is the reason for AC power. He simply chose his patents to make his AC distribution system even more appealing.
A power supply unit (PSU) supplies DC power to the other components in a computer. It converts general-purpose alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC) power for the internal components of the computer.
Other models are able to accept any voltage and frequency between those limits and some models only operate from one of the two mains supply standards.
So AC current breaks into little DC's so the PC would not overheat. Today's PC's can use AC and/or DC.
No actually it's pretty simple. I didn't fail to adress, but you failed to understand. PC's couldn't use pure AC current, cuz it would come to overheating. So AC is divided into many, let's say "less powerful" currents, DC's, in order for PC to not overheat. How come the PC power base has so many wires? Think about it.
@vampir94 You just admitted that PC only needs DC to operate. Electrical power is distributed as 50 Hz AC with a nominal voltage of ~240 v rms but the computers have DC power supplies as you mentioned yourself to convert that to the required ~12 v DC regulated. So the computer's operation has nothing to do with Tesla who was a key figure in the development of AC electricity.
Dude, you totally don't get it do you. Why would you use multiple DC current in order to power up one PC, when you can use AC current and break it onto small pieces, aka DC.
@vampir94 Your analogy is flawed. So far you've failed to cite Tesla's contribution to the development of computers or the information theory. I bet the most common citations would be for the fictionalized version of history and conspiracy theories.
@Blahblobify I've already read your opinion. I know what it is. Now I'm asking for proof. Which invention of Edison exactly was "stolen" from Tesla? Tesla was great but the extent of his contributions are being highly exaggerated. A genius? Nah. Genius is someone of the same stature as Gauss, not some tinkerer.
@leerman22 Edison remembered the "promised bonus" as an exorbitant sum he had thrown out as a joke that Tesla apparently hadn't understood to be a joke.
@ignatei yeah but he didn't stop tesla from making the improvements and then went on to say "oh it was joke" duuude JOB'S DONE, too late for that kinda warning don't you think?
@ignatei Mr Edisons shenanigans, practises and methods are well known and documented. The reason why such deplorable behaviours was not frowned upon is because such nasty tricks and habits were glorified in the USA, which ,as we know, is a country full of managers not doers, builders or thinkers.
It also isn't a "hype" that surfaced lately. The story is nothing new and even movies and books from the 60s,70s and 80s are well aware of the unscrupulous and malevolent nature of the man.
I am an electrical Engineer. I did also heavily studied the hsitory of electrical engineering. 100% of my electrical engineering professors agreed with me.
Edison stole pretty much every inventions.
Tesla : AC generator
Edison : Shitty DC generator that was already invented
What Edison did is just some minor tweaks and improvement. He did not bring any major breakthrough. But of coruse, since you're American, you're blinded by patriotism.
@ignatei Edison was, to put it simply, a jerk. He electrocuted animals just to scare people away from Tesla's alternating current. His desire to win rather than do what was best for everyone and concede that AC was the better choice was ridiculous. If he hadn't been so self-centered, maybe we would be a bit more advanced today.
Meanwhile, Tesla made the vast majority of electrics you see today possible. He even concluded neutrinos were faster than light-which CERN may have done so yesterday.
@Zeus0Moose Westinghouse's AC, not Tesla's. The whole "war of currents" was really Edison, the company, verses Westinghouse, the company. It was never Edison verses Tesla as such. Westinghouse realized the advantage of AC and he picked Tesla's AC stuff over other inventors patents for AC operated devices.
Firstly, cite it. Secondly neutrino was 'proposed' toward the end of Tesla's life and it eluded detection until late 50's after his death. So how could he conclude anything about them??
@ignatei tfcbooks (dot) com/tesla/1932-07-10.htm. I know this, but he had himself observed what he described as "They are small particles, each carrying so small a charge that we are justified in calling them neutrons. They move with great velocity, exceeding that of light." The context was that of cosmic rays and a cosmic ray motor, and neutrinos are definitely a part of cosmic rays. There was no word for neutrinos, However it is pretty clear he was describing neutrinos, even if he didn't know.
@Zeus0Moose Neutrinos were already described a few years before the interview you posted by Pauli and Fermi. There are no details of how Tesla's alleged experiments were conducted. How would he "observe" and measure their speed? Considering that neutrinos interact very weakly with matter therefore making them undetectable for 1930's tech...
@ignatei Though it would seem he is referring to neutrinos, the way he did it is left up to speculation. The fact that he supposedly knew about their part in cosmic rays at the time is also surprising. Unfortunately Tesla was a very introverted man and never said so in public, plus his scientific papers and possessions were confiscated after his death and have not been released, making it exceedingly hard to know how. he may have had papers on his theory of gravity, or death ray or his...
@Zeus0Moose Sure, he might have been referring to neutrinos. They were postulated by Pauli a few years before that interview who called them neutrons until Fermi changed the name to neutrino (little neutral one). His conclusion about them being faster than c is what I doubt had any science behind it.
@ignatei "Earthquake machine" at his death and with such papers at the time when the Cold War was just beginning it is obvious why they were taken. Obviously death ray tech and earthquake machines would likely not be released to the public ever, but why his designs for free, wireless power, theory of gravity, how he would have detected these particles along with many other non-violent inventions cannot be released is beyond me.
@Zeus0Moose Also, I don't think there was a death ray either. Tesla and a handful of other people before him claimed death ray. But in the 20-30's there was no real science behind their weapons since this is before the advent of the laser... first solid state & gas lasers were invented thirty years later in 1960 by Maiman and Javan respectively. Tesla was a brilliant engineer but in the latter half of his life things got the better of him and his ideas became less and less realistic.
@ignatei Actually, the particle beam he described is possible. He could have never powered it with what he had at the time and we can't do it now, but a stream of highly charged particles isn't impossible by any means. And he never claimed to have built one, he only designed them. Did he ever build one? Well, any claims of it would be false. But is it theoretically possible? Sure.
@Zeus0Moose My point was that as far as we know, there is no "he designed them". He did use the word in the press, but it doesn't look like there was a real design patent or prototype of a working death ray. Theoretically yes, but there were no lasers yet. Could have been, but most scientists who came close to grasp the idea of lasers in late 30’s missed it, and the idea faded. But today there are energy weapons like that.
@ignatei So if the neutrinos being FTL are true, then Tesla was the first to observe these particles doing such. Also, it may say NEAR zero, but he almost was referring to the fact that the number was within the range of error to say it was zero.
@welchburger you mean, tesla. No Tesla = like nothing that we have today. Edison was just a business man who had lots of money and his stuff that he create wasn't a big idea except the motion picture device, i admire for that only. Tesla was way ahead of his time.
@ja0129 look, the majority of things ppl so aren't 'big ideas'. Yet they are extremely useful ideas. And what you said about Telsa is yes I agree no Telsa=nothing like we have today. I can also say no Adam and Eve=nothing like we have today. I'm just giving credit to one of the geniuses along the timeline.
@ja0129 What's bothering me most is the erroneous notion that Edison was a good businessman. He was actually a business failure, over and over. He was inept at marketing his own inventions, although he tried very hard. His competitors always came up with better versions that the consumer prefered.
Thomas Edison is the biggest of all scientific fabrications., he was nothing more than a patent stealing product of JP morgan's marketing campaign to meter all electricity.
Edison's DC killed many people. Thats why Tesla's AC system is used in every building in america. Edison is a cheap excuse for the real thing.
The problem with perpetuating this fantasy myth of " thomas edison, inventor" remains with school teachers who teach status quo academia without a grain of thought.
you people have to know that how to use your brain than learning many knowledges. everything you have and know is just nothing. passion and imagination is all about human !
ignore everyone around you ! if you believe yourself, you can be god in this world !
haha he invented a first unusable light bulb!! wtf he bothered then? what? was he missig a crucial ingredient a chunk of brain? Everything that comes to electricity he stole from Tesla!! Coz Tesla was a greatest wizard of all!
hief! thats how many ppl remeber this Invention ripper
Greatest inventor ever? hahah Wake up! all you ignorant americans! A fucking thief ! He might invented something of value but he stole something more of value to the world today. He had to steal and rip-off in order to complete his "invention"... Fucking cunt! He could not take the competition so he started burning down Teslas laboratories ...
@wraith342460 Whatever is asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof, just like your assertions regarding Edison. Nothing comes out of thin air. Without the works of Gauss, Riemann, Hilbert and Newton and others before him, Einstein couldn't produce anything. The same is true about inventors and engineers like Edison and Tesla. They take the ideas of their predecessors, stir with their own imagination and produce a new work. That is called development, not stealing.
@qzaktrdo Sure, you mean like all the scientists and Nobel Prize laureates? Besides, I'm not American. Ever wondered why the Balkans have never produced more men of the same stature as Tesla? That's because Tesla rejected the Serbian chauvinist philosophies and their imaginary friend (the kind of thinking that leads inevitably to misery, stupidity, violence and confrontation).
@qzaktrdo Sure, Serbs and their scientists or scientific contributions certainly cannot be dismissed. But to say Tesla is representative of all Serbs & Bieber of all Americans is false. Your error can be traced to the false fallacy of cherry picking. You pick Bieber, and then ignore Morse, Franklin, Henry, Bell, Claude Shannon, & recently the inventors of the transistor, the LED, first working computers etc. Just look at Nobel Prize & Fields Medal recipients, a good number of them are Americans.
1876-1877 Invented the carbon telephone transmitter "button", which finally made telephony a commercial success. Significantly, this invention not only led to the development of the microphone, which made early radio possible, but the solid state "diode" or transistor which makes so many of today's electronic devices possible. Invented the phonograph. (The patent on which was later issued by the United States Patent Office - within two months after its application - without a single reference.)
@qzaktrdo Yeah right if people in the Balkans were as smart as you say they are, those nations would be super powers. Your Anti-American rant is pretty dumb. Don't step on any land mines hahahaha!
Thomas Edison was a racist thief and a liar. He stole inventions from many people, including the true genius, Nikola Tesla. Edison can stick his Black Maria where the sun doesn't shine!
Great presentation, guys! If ever you get to Fort Myers, Florida, do check out the Edison Compound there, shows his lab and displays of his inventions and products, and his life and work in Florida developing and working on the light bulb and other inventions.
Tesla comes up with an amazing idea, and someone steals it and gets all the credit...Textbook definition of "Capitalism"......If Tesla was American I bet they wouldn't mind giving him the credit.
It's okay bsod4u2, we understand that the reason you run Edison down so much is that you're just jealous of his 1093 patents compared to your .... uh how many was it you have?
Thomas Edison was a brilliant, rich businessman, BUYING 'inventions' from poor folk whom could not afforrd the patent process expenses ... look in todays newspapers... his kind still thrive.... Watch late nite TV! ... Where do these ideas come from? Danoz? I don't think so!
He is, not including Da Vinci, the worlds greatest fraudster! Credit is due there!
Over 1,000 patents! When did he get time to think and experiment? Use some logic!
@cpal861 that just proves that the majority of people are unintelligent, superficial retards. justin beieber is a talentless manufactured pop–culture phenomenon. science is a timeless application of the potential of the human mind leading to advancement in our society, and this video is just an example of people who have contributed to such advancements (albeit Edison was not nearly as innovative as Nikola Tesla). Reevaluate your perceptions

Tesla team!
vampir94 7 months ago
@vampir94 AC makes long distance transmission viable. But electronic equipment requires DC voltages, they use circuits to obtain these from the mains-distributed AC. If it wasn’t for Shockley, Bardeen and Brattain you wouldn’t have your computer (or cellphone, ipod, etc) today. So, I don't really owe typing this to Tesla. Actually, Westinghouse is the reason for AC power. He simply chose his patents to make his AC distribution system even more appealing.
ignatei 7 months ago 3
@ignatei
You're wrong.
Today's PC's can use AC and/or DC.
vampir94 7 months ago
@vampir94 Frankly, what you just said failed to address, let alone falsify anything that I've said.
ignatei 7 months ago
@ignatei
Think about it.
vampir94 7 months ago
@vampir94 You just admitted that PC only needs DC to operate. Electrical power is distributed as 50 Hz AC with a nominal voltage of ~240 v rms but the computers have DC power supplies as you mentioned yourself to convert that to the required ~12 v DC regulated. So the computer's operation has nothing to do with Tesla who was a key figure in the development of AC electricity.
ignatei 7 months ago
@ignatei
Dude, you totally don't get it do you. Why would you use multiple DC current in order to power up one PC, when you can use AC current and break it onto small pieces, aka DC.
vampir94 7 months ago
@vampir94 I didn't say I would use DC, I said a computer can run with or without AC. You do the math.
ignatei 7 months ago
@ignatei
Lol, it's like saying "The cars can run by burning frenchfries." Why would you run it on frenchries when you can run in on fuel.
vampir94 7 months ago
@vampir94 Your analogy is flawed. So far you've failed to cite Tesla's contribution to the development of computers or the information theory. I bet the most common citations would be for the fictionalized version of history and conspiracy theories.

edison was an uneducated hack who ripped off tesla's genius, paid tesla 25 dollars a week and took credit for his inventions.
Edison went to europe and came back with lots of other ideas developed there, then claimed them as his own.
Edison was a greedy opportunistic asshole
Blahblobify 5 months ago
@Blahblobify I've already read your opinion. I know what it is. Now I'm asking for proof. Which invention of Edison exactly was "stolen" from Tesla? Tesla was great but the extent of his contributions are being highly exaggerated. A genius? Nah. Genius is someone of the same stature as Gauss, not some tinkerer.

Voxnulla 4 months ago
@ignatei Proof ? Nikola Tesla is proof enough.

Zeus0Moose 4 months ago
@Zeus0Moose Westinghouse's AC, not Tesla's. The whole "war of currents" was really Edison, the company, verses Westinghouse, the company. It was never Edison verses Tesla as such. Westinghouse realized the advantage of AC and he picked Tesla's AC stuff over other inventors patents for AC operated devices.
Firstly, cite it. Secondly neutrino was 'proposed' toward the end of Tesla's life and it eluded detection until late 50's after his death. So how could he conclude anything about them??
ignatei 4 months ago 3
@ignatei tfcbooks (dot) com/tesla/1932-07-10.htm. I know this, but he had himself observed what he described as "They are small particles, each carrying so small a charge that we are justified in calling them neutrons. They move with great velocity, exceeding that of light." The context was that of cosmic rays and a cosmic ray motor, and neutrinos are definitely a part of cosmic rays. There was no word for neutrinos, However it is pretty clear he was describing neutrinos, even if he didn't know.
Zeus0Moose 4 months ago
@Zeus0Moose Neutrinos were already described a few years before the interview you posted by Pauli and Fermi. There are no details of how Tesla's alleged experiments were conducted. How would he "observe" and measure their speed? Considering that neutrinos interact very weakly with matter therefore making them undetectable for 1930's tech...
ignatei 4 months ago
@ignatei Though it would seem he is referring to neutrinos, the way he did it is left up to speculation. The fact that he supposedly knew about their part in cosmic rays at the time is also surprising. Unfortunately Tesla was a very introverted man and never said so in public, plus his scientific papers and possessions were confiscated after his death and have not been released, making it exceedingly hard to know how. he may have had papers on his theory of gravity, or death ray or his...
Zeus0Moose 4 months ago
@Zeus0Moose Well, that's your faith. As I said given the lack of evidence, I take those claims with a grain of salt.
ignatei 4 months ago
@ignatei So do I, but I do feel it is more likely he meant neutrinos rather than something else.
Zeus0Moose 4 months ago
@Zeus0Moose Sure, he might have been referring to neutrinos. They were postulated by Pauli a few years before that interview who called them neutrons until Fermi changed the name to neutrino (little neutral one). His conclusion about them being faster than c is what I doubt had any science behind it.
ignatei 4 months ago
@ignatei "Earthquake machine" at his death and with such papers at the time when the Cold War was just beginning it is obvious why they were taken. Obviously death ray tech and earthquake machines would likely not be released to the public ever, but why his designs for free, wireless power, theory of gravity, how he would have detected these particles along with many other non-violent inventions cannot be released is beyond me.
Zeus0Moose 4 months ago
@Zeus0Moose Also, I don't think there was a death ray either. Tesla and a handful of other people before him claimed death ray. But in the 20-30's there was no real science behind their weapons since this is before the advent of the laser... first solid state & gas lasers were invented thirty years later in 1960 by Maiman and Javan respectively. Tesla was a brilliant engineer but in the latter half of his life things got the better of him and his ideas became less and less realistic.
ignatei 4 months ago
@ignatei Actually, the particle beam he described is possible. He could have never powered it with what he had at the time and we can't do it now, but a stream of highly charged particles isn't impossible by any means. And he never claimed to have built one, he only designed them. Did he ever build one? Well, any claims of it would be false. But is it theoretically possible? Sure.
Zeus0Moose 4 months ago
@Zeus0Moose My point was that as far as we know, there is no "he designed them". He did use the word in the press, but it doesn't look like there was a real design patent or prototype of a working death ray. Theoretically yes, but there were no lasers yet. Could have been, but most scientists who came close to grasp the idea of lasers in late 30’s missed it, and the idea faded. But today there are energy weapons like that.
ignatei 4 months ago
@ignatei Excuse me, I meant WWII, not the Cold war.
Zeus0Moose 4 months ago
@ignatei So if the neutrinos being FTL are true, then Tesla was the first to observe these particles doing such. Also, it may say NEAR zero, but he almost was referring to the fact that the number was within the range of error to say it was zero.

The problem with perpetuating this fantasy myth of " thomas edison, inventor" remains with school teachers who teach status quo academia without a grain of thought.

wraith342460 11 months ago
@wraith342460 Whatever is asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof, just like your assertions regarding Edison. Nothing comes out of thin air. Without the works of Gauss, Riemann, Hilbert and Newton and others before him, Einstein couldn't produce anything. The same is true about inventors and engineers like Edison and Tesla. They take the ideas of their predecessors, stir with their own imagination and produce a new work. That is called development, not stealing.
