Peter Sellers had this song played at his funeral, for it's complete inappropriateness. Proving Peter Sellers is still funnier even dead, than Dane Cook.
Okay so back when I was really little I got this battery operated flower pot with fake flowers. When you pressed the button, it would sing a song that I just loved. It happened to be In the mood, this song! The little flowers would dance around. I loved that little flower pot but its been at least 10 years or so and its probably gone. I was hoping someone had the same thing as me. Please reply if you did!
I could be wrong about this but watching the musicians in the background I got the impression that they were having more fun making this than the people listening and dancing. It's obvious John Payne was.
Sun Valley Serenade - as well as Orchestra Wives - was among the first movies to have the music soundtrack orignally recorded on magnetic (reel-to-reel) tape instead of either on acetate or on the film stock itself.
Because they're actual studio tape recordings, the sound of the music - as you well hear - is simply outstanding compared to films of the era. Part of the reason that, IMO, this is the best version of In The Mood - hands down.
When I was just a few years old, I used to play this record over and over and over. I'm sure my parents got tired of hearing it, but then again, they liked Glenn Miller, too.
ha ha, you've posted all the musical numbers from Sun Valley Serenade! i'm glas someone finally did this. did you get the Nicholas Brothers routine with Dorothy Dandridge? someone else has it up also. thanks-

Classic track. Altough made in the 30s still sounds rather timeless for jazz standards
