This version is actually "I Asked for Water" by Chester Burnett (aka Howlin' Wolf). The version Gammarklar refers to is "Cool Drink Of Water", but the lyrics are generally the same - which occurred quite often with blues songs and variations. They (blues musicians) listened to each other and copied each other's tunes, I guess.

this is actually a Tommy Johnson tune. best version of it IMO is from Gun Club's 1981 debut Fire of Love LP
