Why does everyone now think 20 yrs is a long time for devices? Oh I know why because the market and manufacturers want you to think 20 yrs is a long time, they make them to fail in 5 or less years and they constantly add to new stuff to give you the impression the older is useless. They engineer obsolescence into things. I have a Radio Shack and an RCA VHS camcorder that both work great and thinking of connecting one to a PC for videos. I know people that still have TVs from the 70s in use today
My first video camera...my aunt paid $1200 for it! pro edit was one of the first with the flying erase head! we made ninja and skateboard video with it back in the day.
I definitely remember those old clunky VHS camcorders. It was even nostalgic to see the brightness on the video dim when you turned on your laptop and then it went back to normal when you moved the laptop away. 20-year-old camera. Not bad, sir! Not bad. Imagine taking that video back to the 90's and having everyone see the new millenium technology such as the cell phone, digital camera, and your laptop. Welcome to the world of tomorrow!!
@JapaneseMonk Oh yeah, these were top of the line in their day. I just wish I could get this video camera fixed. I actually have a term for something like what I did (showing modern day objects on a 1990 camcorder)... Time Conflict!
Wow, that's amazing! It just started working all of a sudden! The quality looks real good on this video. I agree, it is weird seeing the modern date on the screen, especially after watching your home videos from the 90s which were taped with this exact same camera! Good video!
Wow, your videos are always interesting! ":D So cool!

Take it to a guy that fixes tape decks,
it probably needs some new belts or maybe some re-soldering.

I think RCA knew these camcorders were built to last. I have a Pro Wonder from 1988 that still works as well as it did the day I unboxed it!

I have a 1984 Sony HVC-2200 Trinicon video camera and Beta VCR that still work.
