How someone could think a song written in 1938 could have had its lyrics written by a 13 year old boy for a 16 year old girl is beyond me--Ned Washington wrote the words.
This might have been one of Mel Torme's arrangements. He did special material for her TV show. As I recall, he even wrote a book about it. Supposedly, Johnny Mercer wrote these lyrics for Judy Garland.
Remarkable version. My favourite with Sinatra's. Great arrangement too. Her usual melodramatic excesses are this time reserved for the end and they fit with the subdued pose of the rest of the song.
The Magic she gave us in amazing. Since this was the last episode of her TV series. She wanted to go out with style & she did. Thank You Judy, for these 26 episodes that are left to us to enjoy.
She had such a magic to her voice, so passionate, soulful & beautiful. So sad that she had a tragic & tormented life, God love her. May her songs & entertainment live on for many many years.. Love you Judy!! xxxxx :*)
Who else? Who else could be so good? Who else could be so funny, witty ?Who else could be such a great actress?Who else could break your heart with a song or just do it for chuckles?Who else will never be equaled?
Lovely. And as noted by another, her last show; she was devastated, but did not reveal it in the numbers she taped this night. The final show was pasted together with material from a few previous espidoes because in the end she couldn't go on. But, here she was giving her best when her world was collapsing.
Where you find this? Excellent....

Nice find Jessy. Very unique and so pretty.
I like Norah's version too, Houston. Try Michael Brecker and James Taylor's version.

Judy Garland was the most brilliant performer of the 20th Century. None could equal her.
