Actually as a former chicago cop for 8 years I can say w/o a doubt that whites committ more crimes than blacks and that blacks are just incarcerated at a higher rate because they don't have the financial resources to hire the 500 dollar a hour lawyer to get off from going to jail. As for whether or not these cops ID themselves, us common folk will never know. What we do have to go on is witness credibility. Normal citizens with nothing to gain said they saw the cops ID themselves. Perps with lawsuits against the city, who would have directly benifited from a conviction, said they did not hear the cops ID themselves. Who would you believe?

Yes, I would like to aruge about the "ill get my gun" statement. Sure, 2nd ammendment allows gun ownership. NYC law does NOT allow civilians to carry guns at all within the confines of the city. The only exception to this is off duty police officers, and business owners that have carry permits, and they can only carry while in the line of their work. The statement "i'll get my gun" is a clear indication of the law about to be broken (never mind intent to end someones life).

If these cops were really worried about that then they would have stopped the men before they got to the car to use that in SELF DEFENSE. The media is using the phrase "unarmed" because the police were there in plain clothes. NONE yelled POLICE or any other police lingo. Sean Bell was freaked out when they pulled out THEIR guns and natural instinct told him to get the hell out of there even if he had to run a man over. About two days after he was dead they found out he was a drug dealer and were able to pat each other on the back. Justice indeed, "guilty until proven guilty."
