have a question When you floored it, can you smell something after your floored it? Mines smells like egg rotten. I figured out was the converter gets overheated due to lots of power. I think thats normall. Just wondering if you have a same problem.
Something isnt right there, I have two friends that each own two of them('93 and '97LSC and '95 and '98LSC), I know that they can do better than this, something is wrong, my Chrysler 300m will do 0-60 in 6.5 or so.(I do have some fun doodads on it tho)
@kenneykole That is due to the better intake design and more aggressive factory tune in the Gen1s. Why Lincoln took a step back on those ideas with the Gen2s I will never know, lol. If you browse through track times of the 2 generations, it's not unheard of for a Gen1 with 3.73 gears and a tune to run just as good of a time as a Gen2 with more bolt-ons. Typically, a Gen2 will run around a 14-flat with gears, stall, and full exhaust. The Gen1 with the same mods will already be in the 13s.
Plus, if nothing else, all the cars argued about earlier are better, smoother, and classier than most cars on the road, and will beat any ricer fag in a race any day :)
Man, there was a lot of arguing earlier. I'm a big GM fan, but I'd like to say that the supercharged Bonnevilles aren't as quick as you'd think. The newer ones may have the Sll L67, but weighing about the same as the Lincoln Mark Vlll in SSEi trim with only 240 hp vs the Lincoln's 280 hp puts it at a disadvantage. A GTP SHOULD be quicker than a Bonnie. Also, my 2001 Seville SLS runs 0-60 in 7 seconds flat, with an STS capable of 6.5.

get a chip and some gears. some 3.73's will knock that 0-60 time down to bout 6.5 or better with some sticky tires. or get rid of the gen2.. they just don't seem to run as well as the 93-96 models.
Anyone with a mark viii have 4.10-4.30 gears? How big of a difference did it really make and was it worth it? Any tranny problems afterwards? Also if i wanted underdrive pullies would a kit made for a 96-98 cobra work on my 93 mark viii? Any info would be a huge help.

that's odd... i disagree bout the hot rod, i've been pushing about 350hp through mine for 2 years now, with 3.73 gears and prolly a 100 drag strip runs on it, and no problems at all. all on a 160,000 mile car.
I agree I have 151,000 miles on mine and manually shift it all the time and it is still really stout, I actually accidentally put it in reverse at 40mph one time and it grabbed the gear and stalled the car but still shifts great and that was about 20,000 miles ago, the 4R70W are great transmissions especially in the 98's which I have.
I agree with him. I've seen them run 6.8s to 7 flats on the LSC models. Is yours high mileage or something? Any intake/exhaust/engine mods done? Either way, I always LOVED the Mark VIIIs! Nice car!
No mods, bone stock, the mileage was only 63k, it was/is well maintained. I never beat on it, what you see in the video is probably the worst. Before I owned it some older people did, and I'm pretty sure they kept it up. I really don't know. It operates fine and gets going if you want it to, that's good enough for me. I did make another video that is quicker in a cooler temp a while back.
I hope you didn't have the A/C running when you did that, cause that'll seriously screw up the A/C compressor. My Mark VIII does 0-60 in about 6.6 seconds.
im not sure but I think the AC compressor disengages at wot, either way I didnt have it on... and it was slightly uphill, but it was the only open road I could find
Sounds like you were on highway, unless you accidently used your blinker. Yeah, the A/C does disengage, but it's good that you didn't have it on because that can ruin the clutch on the compressor, when it's going on and off at high rpms.

Unlike Lincoln, Buick has some cars with power and they actually still make them. I don't see how you can't win with more HP in a similar chassis and type of car. Well isn't more power and torque = faster times. Last time i checked it did. Superchargers give quicker responce, hince why yours has faster low speed time. Bolt on a supercharger on a mark 8 and it will blow the doors off of any factory buick, that is for sure.

Well, since the Bonneville as been S/C since the early 90s, I think it had the Series I S/C which only put out 225. I drove a Rivie a year older than mine with one and it was a bit sluggish compared to mine. Also, I would say gearing, my Grand Prix is geared for acceleration more than a Bonneville or Riviera would be. Hehe, burns the rubber so easy if you're not careful.

Well, I used to have a Park Avenue and I beat a Civic Si badly, the Civic was turbo my car was the standard 3.8 V6. Basically full bolt on stuff, Intake, ZZPerformance 78mm throttle body, Ported SC housing, 3.3 inch SC pulley (making 12 lbs of boost), 1.9 ratio rocker arms, headers, 3inch catless exhaust, rebuilt trans with 3.29 final drive gears, all the litle crap(plugs, wires, t-stat, etc) and my own tuning.
I dont think a stock GTP would be able to take you either, at least up top. Mine is a 13 flat car however :)

that's odd... i disagree bout the hot rod, i've been pushing about 350hp through mine for 2 years now, with 3.73 gears and prolly a 100 drag strip runs on it, and no problems at all. all on a 160,000 mile car.

I agree I have 151,000 miles on mine and manually shift it all the time and it is still really stout, I actually accidentally put it in reverse at 40mph one time and it grabbed the gear and stalled the car but still shifts great and that was about 20,000 miles ago, the 4R70W are great transmissions especially in the 98's which I have.

I agree with him. I've seen them run 6.8s to 7 flats on the LSC models. Is yours high mileage or something? Any intake/exhaust/engine mods done? Either way, I always LOVED the Mark VIIIs! Nice car!

No mods, bone stock, the mileage was only 63k, it was/is well maintained. I never beat on it, what you see in the video is probably the worst. Before I owned it some older people did, and I'm pretty sure they kept it up. I really don't know. It operates fine and gets going if you want it to, that's good enough for me. I did make another video that is quicker in a cooler temp a while back.

im not sure but I think the AC compressor disengages at wot, either way I didnt have it on... and it was slightly uphill, but it was the only open road I could find

Sounds like you were on highway, unless you accidently used your blinker. Yeah, the A/C does disengage, but it's good that you didn't have it on because that can ruin the clutch on the compressor, when it's going on and off at high rpms.

Unlike Lincoln, Buick has some cars with power and they actually still make them. I don't see how you can't win with more HP in a similar chassis and type of car. They even have around the same amount of torque, so if the Mark loses it's pathetic, and in this case it would. If you want NA power, a Eldorado Northstar will blow your doors off.

Don't get me started on the northstar shit. I know a moded 97-98 Mark 8 with just comp chips, intake, and moded exhaust will pull uper 5.0s in the 0-60 contest. I don't see even stock 97- 98 Eldo ETC's pulling that, which is uper 6.0sec anyhow. Looks like a lincoln can still tuch a caddy how sad lol. How piss poor is that! Well isn't more power and torque = faster times. Last time i checked it did. Superchargers give quicker responce, hince why yours has faster low speed time. Bolt on a supercharger on a mark 8 and it will blow the doors off of any factory buick, that is for sure.

Well, since the Bonneville as been S/C since the early 90s, I think it had the Series I S/C which only put out 225. I drove a Rivie a year older than mine with one and it was a bit sluggish compared to mine. Also, I would say gearing, my Grand Prix is geared for acceleration more than a Bonneville or Riviera would be. Hehe, burns the rubber so easy if you're not careful.

I don't think those were S/C but had the same badge. In any case, my GTP will eat you alive. Brand new Mustang GTs can't pull away from me and I can beat the older ones w/ 4.9 L as well as the newer ones with the 4.6s.

Hah! My six cylinder Riviera does it faster. I'll try and remember to film it sometime, I'm sure it's more around the high sixes-mid sevens. I'm certian my Grand Prix GTP does it around six something. Pretty sad for a 290 HP V8, and don't give me the weight crap, the Riviera weighs almost 2 Tons.

Well, I used to have a Park Avenue and I beat a Civic Si badly, the Civic was turbo my car was the standard 3.8 V6. I find cars that have more HP that can't beat something with less just pathetic, it makes no sense at all when it's not like it's a truck. Don't see much in the way of young people cars from Lincoln either. In my life I've never seen a "SuperMark" but I've seen plenty of S/C Rivies, Park Aves, and Regals.

Basically full bolt on stuff, Intake, ZZPerformance 78mm throttle body, Ported SC housing, 3.3 inch SC pulley (making 12 lbs of boost), 1.9 ratio rocker arms, headers, 3inch catless exhaust, rebuilt trans with 3.29 final drive gears, all the litle crap(plugs, wires, t-stat, etc) and my own tuning.
I dont think a stock GTP would be able to take you either, at least up top. Mine is a 13 flat car however :)
