I personally liked the Japanese version better because her voice just makes me melt.

I don't like the english voices AT ALL They just don't sound the way they are best. And Shizuru hasn't even has an accent in here, they don't say the names how the should and they just don't have emotion in the voices (when nao screams when Kyohime appears for example)

I allmost all the animes, the original voices are WAYYYY better. Only Chobits has good dubs for what I've heard in English.

Also, they could've tried a little harder with the accent-thing. A southern accent doesn't suit Shizuru's personality AT ALL. There are TONS of American accents they could've chosen from. Hell, an English accent could've maybe worked.

Because it makes sense. Shizuru in the japanese dub has a Kyoto accent. It's not the same as the accent that everyone else in the dub. So in the english, hey decided to use a southern accent for her.

actually, Shizuru's VA did a decent job of pronouncing Natsuki's name-- in Japanese, it would sound fairly similar to "knotski", but with slightly less elongation in the vowel sound. it'd be more like "naht-ski", but still, not bad for an American. I was expecting something awful like Nat-SU-ki, with the "nat" pronounced like "cat". anyone who's ever played Persona 3 will know that horror.

Natsuki's VA, on the other hand, can't pronounce Shizuru for shit. "Shi-ZU-ru!" UGH. *vomits*

Well, they probably gave Shizuru a southern belle accent was because they feel that an american southern accent is the equivalent to Shizuru's Kyoto-ben in the Japanese anime.
