  • 楽しそうだなー。観て聴いているこっちも笑顔になる。

  • One of the nicest solos I've ever heard!!!! She's the new genius of jazz music!!! No way!!!

I'm a jazz pianist too, and I'm not able to understand what she was doing at 6:40!!!! Definitely haaaaaard!!!!!!

  • This one is great too. I know that you are practicing the mess!

    やはりこの人は凄いです。めちゃくちゃ練習をしている事が分かるよ!

  • That piano stuff is insane!

    Nice bass solo too.

  • what is that "oooh" at 6:40?!?!

  • What's the technique the electric guitar is doing at 3:25-3:28? I love that sound but never know what it's called.

  • @somecallmetim46 It's a little box called an envelope triggered filter. Costs $20 or so.

  • @Frisbieinstein Oops! That was the bass player. For guitar, You mute the strings then play through a wah-wah or a an envelope triggered filter.

  • I love your music Hiromi, I love your style.

  • genius!!!!!!!! I love her

  • DAAAMN!!! THIS IS AWSOME!!!

  • Amazing

  • 7:20-23 is so freakin dope

  • Berklee College of Music should be proud.

  • HUUUUGE TALENT ! I just can't believe it, you cannot expect what's gonna come from her incendiary imagination, and her incredibly powerful solo made me cry.

  • Hiromi, will you marry me? I know this is youtube but...just think about it, that's all I'm sayin.

  • @Jwarrior53 OK

  • Who is she? Have I been living under a rock? She's fantastic!!!!

  • I am listening to this while I am trying to do something else and her music is sooo nice it pulls me away from whatever I was doing! She is so very good on this one!

  • I love the first three notes in three different speeds in the right moment.

  • This tune brings back long forgotten memories from the three years I spent in Taiwan in the early sixties with my parents. The song (the original Japanese version) was on the radio at all times, despite the fact that the relationship between Taiwan and Japan was, as I remember, not at the most cordial at the time. Hiromi's version is impressive! I have now ordered, in addition to the three CDs I already have, two more!. I am utterly and totally charmed by her music and by that young lady.

  • ♥♥♥

    amei essa músicaaaaaa

  • i lol'ed at 8:44 she is just too good

  • Chords? Yes, but Eb9/D9/Db9. Key of the piece is Eb.

  • Her expression at 5:28-5:30 was priceless!!! :D

  • Chords anyone ? (apart for D#9/D9/C#9 lol ?)

  • Wow... what a cool arrangement of that old pop tune. And she's amazing. The only problem I hear is that the sound levels probably were ear-damaging...

  • Девчонка маньячка! Классно жжет!

  • Amazing I love this

  • without heart music is nothing!

  • Genius !! What planet is she from ? She can play at any form in one tune. So awesome !!.

  • You can tell by her body language that Hiromi didn't expect a quick open hi-hat at 6:35. And you can also tell that she expected him to do it again at the end of that similar phrase at 6:38....but Martin didn't do it again haha.

  • @bpclips yeah and I feel like se made a litle break for quick open hi-hat

  • @bpclips The rhythm in 6:38 already was in change, I wouldn't expect him hitting an OHH in a changing rhythm. Just saying..

  • @bpclips I calls bullshit. She moved and opened her mouth on emphasized rests. That's something she does several other times in her solo, like at 6:33. 'Sides, she obviously knows this band and grooves with them really well; a little thing like that wouldn't throw someone of her caliber off.

  • Great player. Not sure I'm in love with the electric piano sound though; didn't seem "punchy" enough for the tune.

  • She, this, they are why I love jazz! This is truly amazing even inspirational. Thank you SO much for posting!

  • you are right she is a freak of nature, this child is magnificent every so often God puts on this planet great individuals in there own right, this child is God sent and earthly divine as a musician...nothing but the best is going to happen for her.

  • @drnubian You're opening yourself up to a bunch of stupid fuckwits who want to make your beliefs sound stupid, so brace for a shitstorm, if you would.

  • I bet if she had one more arm she would play in the other piano to xD

  • Shes one of the BEST muscians ive ever heard

  • @MCalixte89 Yes. Check out another one. Wim Den Herder doing the Bossa Blues.

  • Does "Uewo muite arukou" mean "So What" in japanese? This sounds very much like Miles Davis' So What

  • @otkinsey No, it means "looking up while walking"

  • I thought the bass was a trombone at 2:25ish. Regardless, tasteful progressive music.

  • This chick is hip as shit!!! she reminds me of Jacky Terrasson

  • Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Demasiado buena!

  • So what...a couple idiots stumble upon this video and felt the need to vote?!? Hiromi deserves 100% thumbs up. This is too good.

  • The woman can PLAY the piano. & you'd hardly guess that this was played as a wistful ballad back in the early 1960s when it was a hit in Japan and in the USA (as "sukiyaki" of all things).

  • It`s wonderful this kind of music because in latinamerica its no common and me I like too much, congratulations Hiromi & music band, wooow!!!!

  • HIromi is the only one who can pull off a chasing section with herself :)

  • I love the words I'm seeing underneath the frame: "No description available." Damn straight!

  • OMG!! i can never imagine this song can be played like this d(^O^)b

  • ela é a melhorrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • maybe she has two brains...

  • god bless you que original nuevo sonido nos transportas al umbral del sonido cosmico fusion de todo

  • impresionante!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hiromi is cannot possibly be human! what the heck yo!!!!!

  • i just learned the melody on guitar and trumpet...my goodness its so much fun to play. you can really make this song groove. and its on an easy key to solo on! well for trumpet anyways ^_^. Hiromi ftw!

  • The biggest virtuoso experience in a long long time.

Hiromi, you are too good to be true <3

  • WOW - Where did this beautiful little freak of nature come from? hahahaha! AMAZING.......

  • @gvSAXBOY

    Amazing, isn't she?

  • On what album can I find this song?

  • You can find this song on the album, "Beyond Standards" I recently gotten into Hiromi Uehara and i've come to love her style and music. Also, The original for this song is very nice to listen to. It's by a japanese singer named Kyu Sakamoto and the song is..well...Ue wo muite arukou..lol

  • Amazing !!!!!!! wowowowowowow!!! Please, tell me his band members.. Incredible !!!

  • FUCKK!!!! SHE IS THE BEST!!!

  • I just love watching someone who REALLY enjoys what they do! She is digging every note! Gotta love it!

  • Don't chew or digest it all too much intellectually...you'll eventually lose the robust flavor. I like the emotion, tone/color and sense of movement I experience. Technique sans emotions is like painting by the numbers. Just soar and drift with her...she can transport me...that's enough.

  • i saw nord lead

  • @FingerstyleTV Yes, she always has those with her.

  • I started crackin up towards the end when the pianist was on edge and everyone was outta their seats. So intense i could only laugh.

  • Anyone know the chord progression of this song?

  • la mejor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • At this point it's a matter of what specific sounds you want to hear. These are the exact sounds I want to hear, that's all that matters. Comparing her to other artist is a waste of time.

  • Along with Brad Meldhau...She is one of the most technically accomplished, yet artistically unique, pianists of our era.

  • just cannot agree with you, she's so good and with a great technic, but for me Mehldau seems to be creating a new way to make piano, a new musical sistem. She still being so impresive

  • In retrospect, I find you are correct. I much prefer Brad Mehldau's artistry and style to Hiromi. Mehldau's use of counterpoint and motif is unparalleled and excitingly fresh. My previous statement is not true.

However, Hiromi is a unique artist with great skill. She is just not revolutionary. She seems to be similar to Joshua Redman in that sense.

  • Yeah, she is technically great, but mechanics involved in Bill Evans or Brad Mehldau playing is something really more than speed and expresive soloing like hiromi has.

For short - I agree with you ;)

  • Oh, I love her!...(music apart) She "comes" while playing! That´s Eros, life.

  • Eros??

    That's ERIS!!!

  • oH, I love her...music apart.

  • I agree with Pippo...soooooo sexy!!!

  • She is too tight!! I've gotta find her work----hopefully it's here in the States!!

    Oh, wait---this is "Sukiyaki"?!?!

  • Yes it is, but what this song has to do with sukiyaki I will never know.

  • too splendid!

  • How does she manage to play with such passion and such control at the same time?

She must have practised for hours on end as a teenager.

  • Haha, I'm sure it started way before she was a teenager.

  • I just plugged my bass now..

  • such sensitivity! (:

  • man fuze is hella sick

  • I love you. I am really madly in love...

  • SEXY HIROMI...SEXY MUSIC::I LOVE YOU

  • I love you Hiromi...you are what it's all about. God has to be grinning every time you get down.:)

I'm so glad you are leading the way..I get so inspired every time I hear you!

  • A partir del minuto 5 a mi me provoca llorar a veces. Hiromi....

  • Piano GoD!

  • Hiromi Uehara... is my hero. If she were a guitarist, she'd be my God.

  • She is the most exciting pianist I've ever seen!

  • my nose is bleeding. think it's not gonna stop for the rest of my life.&_&

  • is she human? this is unfair!

  • Thanks to Hiromi there's a future hope for the good and tasteful in music!

  • monster groove :)

  • this is the music

  • sukiyaki;

this is the alternative Japanese national anthem.

  • that s simply amazing !!!!!

    Hiromi u are wonderful!!!

  • 1:55-1:59! :-D

  • who's the drummer?...and the rest of the band for that matter?

  • martin valihora is the drummer...

  • the bassist is tony grey....
