What happened to Ruffian after she awoke from the anesthesia was she began to gallop while laying down and then she started spinning putting her recently castes sesamoid bone at great risk! After much spinning and thrashing her left shoulder broke Barbara and Stewart jr. Janney couldn't avoid the inevitable the Great Champion had to be euthanized getting buried in the Belmont Park infield with her nose facing the finish line. A great Champion like Ruffian deserved no less!! Ruffian is my hero!:)

First of all, I'm new. -,- second of all, ruffian means a lot to me, she's my favorite horse, so i personally think that this is great. :3 made me cry. To the greatest racing filly of all times!
Personally, I don't believe that the match race was selfishness; it was a mistake. Ruffian's times alone could easily have dismissed the rivalry, but the Janney's wanted to give Ruffian the opportunity to prove how unstoppable she was. She would have won, but her body frame was still growing and fragile, and as a horse who's structure would not be fully developed until she was at least 8, she pushed herself beyond was her adolescent body could handle. DO NOT bash on those who loved her most

She was one great horse and had the biggest heart of the champions in history. What happened to her was bad but its horse racing. She was amazing and the best. You know the real thing that killed her was the fact she started thrashing when she awoke, fracturing her elbow. Thankfully we have technology today that prevents that, I only wish it were around when she was :( RIP Ruffian.

You know the real thing that killed her was the fact she started thrashing when she awoke, fracturing her elbow. Thankfully we have technology today that prevents that, I only wish it were around when she was :( RIP Ruffian.

2:42, look very carefully at her legs and you will see her hoof flop around like it did when it actually happened.... did they break that horses ankle? cause the hoof is all flopping around and i can't beleive they wouldnt do that to an acting horse, would they??
