THE GENUINLY 1ST PSYCHEDELIC BAND ! ! ! ARTHUR LEE AND LOVE, FOREVER CHANGES IS AN EXCELLENT RECORD TOO! AND LIKE ROKY ! MASSIVELY UNDERAPPRECIATED !!!
Sopor Aeternus's “Hades (Pluton)” brought me here.
It's a song with different lyrics but the chord progression and most of the melody is taken from this one, it's amazing and gorgeous and you should all listen to it.
@TheRob138 ????? where the f**k did you hear that? Roky was locked up over weed, Texas wanted to make an example of him....he never stabbed anyone in the head. Watch "You're Gonna Miss Me...or do some reading.
im a massive fan of the Entombed cover and the originals just as good, i can see me checking out a lot of this guys stuff from now on, its class stuff!!
This song rules, but what's with every song title being the first line he says in EVERY TRACK? I mean I saw a pattern w/ the creature w/ the atom brain, but then it's cold night for alligators? wtf?
But all in all this dude is a complete badass, he quit high school a month before graduating cuz they tried to make him cut his hair. epic
@killfroggy26 oh dear, once more another film is summoned from the depths and given the treatment, by that i mean the torture treatment, what is it with remakes, i dont get it, what else is their to say about fright night? leave them alone hollywood. I suppose if it turns people on to the oldies its good but I wonder how many people rented the original Bangkok Dangerous. A gret asian film by the way, really great infact
Awesome post. his solo career is often times shaded by the 13th floor elevators. I think his solo career is so much more unique. You can totally tell he went insane...
...classic rock song, great power in his voice, this should be a movie track, it would have been great in the TRUE BLOOD - tv-series as the theme song...
i think this song has gained an amount of popularity(thrashers and metallers in genuine) through the cover of entombed.I found it this way xD awsome song.
Anyone know how many cover versions there is of this song? I liked entombed's one, then there was this power metal version which I didn't think much of at all xD
Great song this one, almost got a tear in my eye when I read about his condition after his therapy and all : /
@psbassplyr I have saw it yes. It was very good if sad. Dude's got some issues but he seems to be in good spirits even if it is oblivious good spirits. Interesting how many people considers him a big influence.
Indeed , and Anna did a great job on 'Hades Pluton' only just discovered that she had inspiration from this song, must say; Anna seems to like a lot of cool music herself *nods*
Nevertheless, this song is awesome (and not only because of Sopor).
I definitely agree, I myself am a huge fan of Sopoor (got all of their albums) and I still maintain that" Hades Pluton" is an absolutely awesome track. Yet there is something classic about this track, which renders it utterly unique. Roky, thank you for creating such a cool piece of music \m/
@zarok13 You also should hear the song "La cumparcita" a tango song. There are similitudes. i like more the sopor aeternus than Roky Erickson, but I've always though that the song of Sopor Aeternus was utterly composed for Anna Varney Cantodea.
Actually i'm absolutely right. Of course I know it was released in the 80's, I meant his style for this song. Very black sabbath like, yet still sounds like early 60's psychedelic rock.
Awesome scary song...the very 1st time i heard this song a while back i visited a club in NYC, celebrating a Mag, titled "Vampyer"...i freaked out!..x0]
