Retro Review - Metal Gear Solid 4

Even though this one didn't have the magic of the first 2 MGS games its still one of the best games ever made.. But you know MGS 1 was just pure magic.. Everything about it, music, cast, story, codec conversations, sequences, bosses... I can't make you understand how much i loved the game, its the best game ever for me...

@MrMattSchweers Uh, I didn't say the game was bad! I just said it wasn't perfect! Calm down. As for the I install times, there is no excuse! This is a 6hr game!! It ain't Fallout or Oblivion! All those Cutscenes should have loaded off the blu-ray! No reason to install them! As for no auto-save? If this game came out in 2004, that may have been excusable. Not in 2008. I still say this game is a 9 or 9.5 max which would is still an awesome score! And don't call me buddy!

I don't believe in perfect 10s. No game is perfect! I loved this game but here are two imperfections of this "perfect game." When you died, it would come up with a dialogue to quit or retry. If you hit quit and did not save, you would lose all progress from the last save. I replayed an hour and a half because of this. Two three installs! First one close to 30 minutes and the other two 10 to 15 mins. These two reasons make it a 9.5 max! Ain't perfect!

@pdgable buddy those 2 things don't effect gameplay at all and its ur fault that u hit quit instead of retry. That means its ur fault that happened to u don't blame it on the game. And seriously don't bitch about install times the reason there is multiple is that the developers didn't want to throw one huge install time at u so instead they spread it out over 3 separate but shorter installs

@pdgable It's sorta true, but you gotta have realistic expectations and 10s go to games that have 100% heart and dedication. What could be a 10 for me might be a 4 for you, or the other way around. One game can't please everybody, that's why some people watch Whitey's Reviews and some people watch IGN or GameTrailers. I'm sure somebody out there would take a shit on MGS4 and toss it out the window, I kow I wouldn't though...

This was a great game, i wish it would have had some sort of warning at the end about the lengh of the final cutscenes though, i finished it at 12PM one night after playing it for 3 days straight, only to sit there until 1:30AM waiting for the cutscenes to finish, some people need to go to work Konami! lol

Your old intro was that a full song at one point cause what i remember from ur older reviews the intro was not that long, like in this review its extended by like 5 seconds with more to the song.like in your old reviews it goes "a funny guy who became a youtube star" and then your review started but in this its longer so if it is a full song can you post it for us old subs please whity :) !!! and if there is no full song can you just use your old intro cause its the beast intro I ever heard!!!

hated this game so much. it ruined the series for me. short game play mixed with retarded cut scenes ("will you marry me" anyone?). every scene involving Raiden was a plot hole as well. hopefully the MGS HD Collection will get me back to being excited about this series and maybe, just maybe, i'll give mgs4 another shot and hopefully have fun playing it this time around

I respect your opinion then and I wonder what it is now. MGS4 stunning? no the gameplay, the cutscenes maybe. Uncharted is stunning. I Love the MG series! I was so hopeful and ready to play it. I got tired of the bland washed out green boxy level design and snake animations. He walks like he needs to go but cannot find a bathroom. The story is great and it is told in a myriad of movies, MG style... but the game itself was not my favorite of the series.
