  • i used to have same problem with my 1996 accord and my mechanic told me to replace the tps but i didnt believe, what i did i removed the whole trottle body clean all attachments with carb cleaner then replaced it back. the result was great my car is now running ok. try the same guys it may help. have a safe ride

  • I had this exact problem with my 1990 Integra. Can't remember what we did to fix it but that car is long gone.

  • i bet it was just your vacume line, sounds just like that when your adding seafoam

  • @Legoman0323 yes, disconnecting a vaccum line does make the car sound similar to this, but the iacv was the problem...it was clogged

  • its your vacume plug bud

  • im sorry see you car has been demond possesed i suggest you see a voo doo priest as soon as posible

  • fast idle valve under throttle body. completely disassemble it and clean it. the main screw which is about an inch in diameter turn it about a quarter turn out.

  • You have a vacuum leak somewheres.

  • @QSideProductions or iac valve. clean it up, run fuel injector cleaner and do a tune up. it'll run like new.

  • car ghost

  • i know exactly wat it is. i had the same problem with mine. i have a scan tool and it says " EGR insufficient lift"

  • bad fuel. actually bmw would do the same thing when u put regular fuel instead of premium.

  • my 96 accord is over 400.000+ and never happen like that. use STP injactor cleaner. clean the ICU unit thats idal control unit its at the back of air intakewith two 10m bolt. and make sure clean the intake with safe cleaner ect ect . just give ICU a good blast with brake cleaner and let it soke over night.ect ect fin. ; ) save you $350

  • @sario22152 nice, i did this, my accord is just reaching 99,000 miles

  • does anybody know how to reset the ECU ?

  • @mrslideinsideu2 The IACV in behind the Intake Manifold near the throttle body, there should be two coolant lines connect to the bottom of it.....the ECU can be reset if u disconnect the battery

  • my accord does the same thing..I think itz cause it needs a sensor or the engine has

lots of miles like mine..... 355,000

  • @TheCalderonKomanders Well mine has been fixed im only 98,000....just unbolt the IACV and spray carb cleaner into it and bolt it back up and it should work fine

  • @KidWebs Where exactly is the IACV ?

  • and idk if it me but mine does not run that hot urs is in the middle mine runs in between cold and middle like 1/4 way just a observation mayb its cuz i hav the v6 tho

  • well first off u needa go see honda i have the same car except v6...and its idling weird as shit doesnt sound good...mayb its a mass airflow (a guess idk if this one has it) and U SEE THAT RED DOT UNDER UR SPEEDO? THAT MEANS ITS BEEN OVER 7500MILES SINCE UR LAST MAJOR service at honda...u need to go see honda...read ur manual about the dot mayb it needs to just be serviced by a honda tech

  • @xxnissansilviaxx u can reset the red dot urself by pressing button on dash, which i did, my car was ok....it was the IACV , it was clogged and just need to be cleaned out

  • If the EGR ports are clogging then the system won't breath right, which can cause an idle surge as You have. I have a 96 with 250k on it and I have to routinely clean the ports once a year. It's located beneath the injector rail. Three bolts and the plate comes off. You have to remove the injector rail to do it

  • ok what did u use to clean it

  • once you remove the plate just use a pick and a wire brush. Each intake runner has a hole through it. the gasket plate is reusable and the top plate has channels in it that will get clogged up. I generally charge the customer 75.00 to clean them out.

  • o ok thanks i found a guide on a honda forum how to do it, ill try it out

  • did it work?

  • Go get ur aircon checked out, when I get chance I'll c if I can wkout what it was that they had 2 replace in my corona, I had a gy tell me it was the dashpot but that was only part of the problemthe other part was this leaking pipe

  • Is it only when the aircon is on??? I just got a 96 accord vti but my previous car (Toyota corona) did this when the aircon was on, it's a busted pipe in ur aircon system or the dashpot (controls revs when aircon is switched on)

  • my ac doesnt work...i didnt look into fixing it

  • i have the same car same year..it only has done this a couple times, maybe 1 or 2 since i've owned it for a year now. is it anything to worry about fixing?

  • and it was the same engine like yours

  • that just happend earlier at napos shop it was a 96 honda accord limted editon it overheated and then a idle problem came

  • @keashaun1 check ur coolant, u may be low or theres air in it

  • vacuum leak maybe

  • bad spark plug not good compression for piston . i think thats wat it is or your engine could be going out . how many miles u have than call honda and ask them wat is the dead line on the engine when it is ready to break down than they should have files on the year and what kind the limit on the car

  • lol my car has 95k miles and this model 1994-97s engine averages 300k+ miles, idk if that the problem but whatever it is, it has stopped on its own

  • dirty injectors, worn plugs or one of the vac lines is off, disconnected or clogged. the cd5 accord has three vac lines. i can only see one in this vid. the other two r off to the right by the brake fluid resevoir

  • @CH33Z3B4LL3R well i havent had this problem for a good while now...maybe ever since i changes my radiator, thermostat and used seafoam thru brake booster...thx tho

  • yea seafoam does wonders lol and yea no problem. seafoam ur fuel system and tranny every 6 months

  • dirty injectors?

  • Maybe juste clear your sensor or juste ajust the idle

  • how many miles to u got on that?

  • then was 87125 but im now 95465

  • ohh ok :)

  • ur problem was the that ur air control vacuum on top of ur air in take vacuum replace that ur ok.

  • one of your vaccum lines are disconnected its behind the intake.

    mine did this aswell

  • u gotta see the vacuum line and plus it needs tunning and ur temperature gage needle is at the middle 96 accord temerature gage doesnt reach to the half it stays less than half so maybe u need to put some coolent or if it gets heat up than u must change the thermostate

  • u need an air filter my honda did the same thing

  • yeah man it sound like the vacuum line in not on right it has a clip that you can press down and push the vacuum lin in then let the clip go

  • yea i'll try it

  • looks like a vacuum leak. ever get it fixed?

  • actually no havent attempted to fix it....however, it has kinda stop but happens from time to time but only for like 5 seconds and then it stop

  • Dude i have the same exact car try cleaning the idle air control valve or just getting a new one but they run about $200

  • i havent cleaned or changed it yet but you get one on ebay less then $50

  • have u tried a compression ratio?

my honda had the same issue and the cause was a cracked valve springs, and mistimed firing of the pistons bcuz the timing belt was off. but that was for an f22b2 nonV sohc

  • you can take off the IACV and just clean it...its not that hard with a bent wrench or small hands..or just wear gloves cause its a tight area

  • i actually tried to remove it but i dont have small enough wrenches or socket to fit behind it. I already have carb cleaner prepared to clean it

  • its caused by the fast idle thermo valve that is under the throtle body its controlled by the coolant if u get low on coolant it will start to do this until coolant runs back through it if u keep it full and it still does this then its the valve you can test it by taking the intake tube off and putting your finger over the little hole while its running if it runs fine and is full of coolant then the valve is bad and it runs about 80-100 bucks at autozone

  • well i did have the radiator and thermostat replaced a few months ago and it has stop since around that time..maybe it was from my cooling system i guess...thx for the info

  • it consumes more gas i think thats the effect for now,,if u dont want to replace it,,but as u have said ,,it stopped itself,,ure lucky,,nothin to worry about it,

  • thx for the info man..i appeciate it

  • thats the sign you have to change the idle air contol valve,,,thats the same thing happened in my car,,replace your IACV,

  • yea ok but i hear its a pretty expensive part and for the past two months now the i guess stopped it self, it hasnt done it in a while...so is it necessary now u think to replace it? what will it effect if i dont

  • tps problem

  • Oh do you plan to modify your Accord? or so some cool things to it? I had those stock rims on mine but sold it and got the 94-95EX stock ones and sold the center caps ha ha ha. and painted the rims in a black semi gloss color it looked really nice. but my car was silver.

  • not a bad deal...well since i havent much won much races with this auto, i just decide to just upgrade the sound system, rims 18" hopefully, headlights/fogs & hids...if ur interested u should join "Gen5Alive" is a very helpful forum for cd5 owners(kidwebs is my name there too) they can prolly help u further with ur questions

  • Hey dude we have the same car year body everythign accept mines a 5sp but, see mine did that usualy in the morning or when cold, and I didnt have a engine light on at the time till recently so i have two things goign on at once im thinking but Im goign to try and clean out the TPS first and see how that goes, and the IACV man that thing is expensive piece to replace and its small little thing!

  • yea man mine done that in cold mornings sumtimes too...that iacv i'll just leave it alone its very expensive even for my old car -_-, well this problem in my video doesnt happen as often anymore i guess it unclogged itself idk

  • Ahh I see. I might try to find one on Craigslist. and buy it off some dude, if he can just sell me the TPS cheap I mean his could go bad anytime soon so i Just want to test it to see if mine is the problem, or do some buy and resale car parts and make some profit and buy a new one, The only thing im very scared of is if theres a air leak in the intake header gasket. THATS A BITCH to replace and fix.

  • Also I have an AEM intake that I want to install but I dont want to install it untill I have the idling fixed and the check engine light fixed as well then I will install the intake, hoping after installation everything remains the same in good condition, so I know the intake didnt make any errors.

  • what did you have done to fix it?

  • it says "maintenance required"....urs is red light already...mine is still green..

  • well its been red since i recieved car in october...i have done a oil change, spark plugs, air filter, new radiator, i seafoamed it and a few other things. I believe i would have to manually reset the light, which i forgot to do. so i just left it

  • Idle Action Control or something like that

  • yea i know wat it's call now IACV=Idle Air Control Valve

  • its the IAC sensor

  • i got the exact same car you need to loosen up the throttle cable lol it works like brakes on a bike and it will idle right which mine idles about 2000 or 1500 just get it in that range just message me back if you cant fin it lol and illhelp ya anytime just message me

  • thx for info but i dont think it's the cable because it doesn't happen all the time,it only happens after been driven for at least 15mins..my car idles at 1000-1200rpm in park and 800rpm in drive which is around honda specs

  • IACV is clogged.

  • where is that located? is it the THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS)? or 94-97 EX ELECTRONIC AIR CONTROL VALVE ?

  • Your valves.

  • OK I will try and clean that out tomorrow. I had to replace my air filter few months ago and man it was BAD and DIRTY! so im thinking maybe the TPS or IACV is really dirty too. I hope thats the real reason.

  • @YoJoeEX96 i dont know if you have figured it out but the tps is right by the air filter hose which goes into the intake manifold. i have a 95 accord and its right in back. hopefully this helps

  • i have a 96 honda accord as well. mine is starting to do the same thing, if u hear that it is something else let me know but i think it is the idle air control valve. it is on the back side of the throttle body. let me know if u try it or not and if it works! best of luck!
