how could you tell which leds are for the numbers and the lines on your gauge? numbers being the speed your going and lines that surrounds the numbers.
I'm buying LEDs from mouser.com (suggested on the SL post), what operating current and voltage LEDs do I need? There's one that's at 20mA, and one at 10mA.

nah, you can install the LED's w/o the resistors it won't burn out or anything. Resistors only depend on the different colors your using. if you want to change it to white, blue, green, or pink, you need resistors otherwise it's gonna be really dim. if you want red, no need to change the resistors.

How was de-soldering the LCD on the HVAC? I'm about to do that and I'm kinda worried because I read a lot of people have trouble.

i don't know for sure, but i wouldn't do it because the leds might just burn out
