  • The way of Russia keeping an upper hand on the country is obvious.

The Georgian spirit is notorious for love and care for humanity, and it will stand for what is right. But to deny it what is by God theirs is a crime .

  • Why is Charlie Rose acting like such a partisan anti-Russian twit?

  • As someone born in america, what I think america should do is very clear:

keep your nose out of other people's business~! If a country asks for help, give it; otherwise, it's got nothing to do with you!

  • ignore nubbs he's one of those scums

  • NATO coundn`t isolate us Russian, becuse the Germany, France and Italy are not stupid and blind US allies as america thinks !

  • It's so funny to watch this one year later. Especially that Jew Kagan, who is talking about punishing Russia.

  • Vitaly Churkin is the best!

  • igorvasil is dumber than a bag of Russian bear shit. Blinded by hate and stupidity he goes on and on .

  • Both sides should fucking grow up. No side can claim to be righteous when it comes to conflict.

  • WHAT ARROGANCE showing Russia as an aggressor in that war? WAKE UP! Bush needed to distract people from his failed policies. He used Georgia to start a conflict to try to demonise Russia. Didn't work out that way hey W? And now that the entire thing backfired, W lost the last ounce of credibility, Georgia and Osetia are in ruins and USA have been left red-faced after series of obvious lies and blunders in their own media. Europe doesn't need protection against Russia. They need it against USA

  • georgians started the autocracy!

  • Watching this you can clearly understand how US media is censored and how propoganda is strong there.

And funny how this liars cal georgia "young democracy". Maybe they must spent few minutes to see what REALLY happened in georgia in last years and TODAY...

Fuckin USA. Really, a country of liars and idiots...

  • Once again , igor makes moronic statements of course with no substance to back it up.

  • One more time american bacteria robi2000 spreading his stupidity...

robi, you are idiot, typical ignorant american. What do you know about Georgia? US media showed NO ONE SECONG of anti-Sukashvili protests, when 100,000 georgians (of 4 millions) during 2 months already protesting against dictator Misha. This PURE, CLEAR example how US media hiding, censoring uncomfortable TRUTH. And you CAN'T change it, because you know that US media spreading propoganda about georgia. You KNOW it, loser..

  • Funny, yankees don't let jim finish the speech. They definitely don't like to hear the truth about their own ugly behaviour. I recognize american way of taking interview, trying to shut the opponent up with proviking questions. Churkis did it right no to react on it and calmly answer with equal examples.

The USA thinking over the action and say what the USA, NATO and EU(!!!) should do. It proves once again how much they dominate Europe ... and manage to blame russian in imprerialism. sweet! :P

  • Nyutkin, questions and information are not damnation. Tell me, is there more than one free media in Russia ?

  • didi that war ended already ?

  • how can you talk to somebody who is killing people and pretending that nothing happen? you should negotiate with someone untill your opponent start to use weapons. after - the longer you talk the more people die. is that ok for you?

  • After watching so much tabloid news it refreshing to know there someone in America that does credible interviews.

  • Pointman, many of the reputable sources - in the west and east as well have been quoting figure from the original source, namely South Ossetian estimate, which amounts to over 1500 deaths of civilian population.

In reference to my english, i don't think it's good at all, thx anyway, and besides the time of the iron curtain is long gone. Today half of Russia speaks at least two languages fluently. all of the businesses in moscow are staffed with bilingual employees. Do u speak foreign languages?

  • talking about the price for russian retaliation. How about the price that georgia might need to pay for attempted genocide of ossetian population, strangely nobody even mentioned that in this CNN segment. And these are professional news makers, meaning that their opinion should be highly unbiased. Let us punish Russia for preventing murder of civilians and sticking up for them by isolating this huge country from the world! Let us put them down by placing defence shield in Poland and Czeck repbl

  • You must be incredibly intelligent Russian, for only the smartest among Russians are able to learn foreign languages. :)

Being intelligent as you are, you must be aware of the lastest official Russian report, which claims that as many as 162 Ossetians got killed in the recent war. Now, 162 dead hardly passes for a genocide imho.

  • kagan - is it a jewish name?

  • Kagan is absolutely a jewish name.

  • yeah, that's it! Jews have joined Georgians in their struggle against Russia.

I think you should just surrender. :)

  • Rose--nberg--

he was paid well so he doesnt like all ov zat but he is trying hard

    wat a clowns ahahaha

  • i'm sick hearing this crap over and over again. nobody killed civilians you asshole, unless jets flew in and dropped bombs

  • Obviously Charlie Rose is another media outlet controlled by the Neo-Cons. It's very scary how the western media is portraying this conflict. If you want the truth about this whole issue, watch the YouTube video "Alex Jones on Russia Today TV" and "Fox News: Cover-Up on Georgia-Russia War". Also listen to Eric Margolis on Real News Network. I hope Saakashvili will someday be brought up on war crimes for his acts against the people of South Osetia!!!!

  • What happened at 4min 13sec ?

  • That's famous american freedom of speech

  • We should try stop such politician games that killes people! They forget about real value of one's life! They think that there is a difference between their own life and one of ordinary people, in other case they will not initiante this stupid war! Imagine, the costs of defence to your country and my country. If our authorities will decide to negotiate this issue, billions of dollars can be saved for education, science, social issues and so on! All we need is negotiation with respect!

  • So, how is guilty in hundreds of dead osetian childrens? This old bustards, under command of Bush and Putin who sell peoples for oil.

Second, it will be more precise to talk not about Russia-Georgia conflict but about

Russian Government against Georgian Government, dont put me(ordinary citizen) in this dirty games!

  • Oh, brothers and sisters. What I want to tell you in my message is that politics is dirty!

I live in Russia, and I can't see any more our national television where our authorities lies to people. I used to hope that your television is better, is more objective and less dependable from your government. But IT 's ALL BULLSHIT. Your authorities, experts are lying too: they only care about your natinal politics, and NOT about people in Georgia and South Osetia.

  • This Russian, every 3rd world is a lie from this commie bastard! You can shove your clean field remark at your Russian Occupation force!

  • Well, lots of people were against it, and many still are but, you won't hear much about them in the media, as it all sounds "anti-American", which is really an impossible thing to exist in America,, if you think about it, since Americans are free to be as they wish, and say what they want. You just can say stuff on T.V. and Radio, and, other mass media. Let's just say we are under attack by our own MASS WEAPONs of MASS MEDIA. But pay no attention to me, I can't think for myself. Me dummyd down

  • why is there too much criticism from international community over Russia's entering Georgia and yet U.S entering Iraq, there was not strong condemnation?

  • That red tie fatso can't even say "South Osetia" right))

  • For the establishment of governments which will defend workers' interests, overcome poverty and ensure peace in the region; for a democratic socialist federation of the Caucuses

  • For the immediate stop of military activities and the withdrawal of troops from South Ossetia

For the right of South Ossetia, and the other unrecognized republics, to self determination without military intervention.

For united actions by the working masses of Georgia, Russia and South Ossetia to overthrow those governments who wage war against ordinary people

  • So, a democratic type government on the border of Russia,, gets plowed,, and we (americans), who normally help those in such situations, are going to just, hang and wait until it's over. We must be scared of the the big bear, while we smack up some other country for it's villagers acts of violence. Or, I am falling into the dumbed down American citizen plan, and I don't know anything, which, I will concur.. I don't know what is what but -when- sounds soon.

  • 'we (americans), who normally help those in such situations'. what like the democratically elected Sandinista government of 1984? please open your mind, the US has invaded and toppled more democratic governments throughtout the world than anyone else

  • Ok. well, we the people of a shameless government, stands and watches a monster government destroy a society similar to ours, perhaps better than ours, maybe it's a secret haven of the ultimate government, like ours is supposed to be, and well, this must be what we have to look forward to,, as it appears to me an indirect vision of our own future, as Americans, when we need, "cleansing". Maybe we already do.. I dunno, let's watch T.V. instead.

  • Charlie rose is such a biased dick on this show its amazing. I wonder if the Current Israeli PM were on his show would Mr Rose ask him about his heavy handed bombing in Lebanon 2 years ago. Or ask why did he use so much force with dealing with the lebanese people by killing and bombing so many innocent civilians there? I doubt that this Zionist controlled puppet would even ask questions like that.

  • what bullshit is this shameless bastard talking?

  • The world better open it's eyes, there can't be Russian aggressors and their army on Georgian soil as peacekeepers! Russia has been a side in the conflict since 1990's! We need International presence on the ground ASAP!

  • As I said; sahakashvili is a murderer. He IS NOT elected 'democratically, but he overthrew shevarnadze and killed thousands. By the way, his ADMINISTRATION is paid by Bush (YOUR tax money. And u don't know it).

  • USSR used to invest in these countries for a century and NO ONE HAS more rights on this region than RUSSIA! Russia will bring you to your knees, if you continue your claims! Definitively! Ultimately! Do not make games with them...

  • Bush-Cheyeny-Rice WAR CRIMINALS!

    OUT of other countries!

    NOW!

  • into the other? Rose is a fucking idiot.

  • "putin has every right to attack a democratic country on its border for trying to join a western military alliance of nations and is completely justified in fearing the US."

He's not "Democratically elected" he was put in power by a CIA people power coup. Besides, Putin is not attacking them, he's responding to an attack by them.

  • russia sucks (lol)

  • If you are so unbiased against Russians why NEVER given the opportunity to any Osetian to speak?bcse the truth is that Georgians are HATEFUL people who suck out the blood of minorities.Russia is a savior of ethnic minorities in Caucasia. it is the truth!

  • Let the super "Geek league" decide everything, we're too stupid to think for our selves. USA and RUS should be UNITED

  • You can tell this Russian diplomat is used to having too much power.

  • Churkin was ambassodor of Russia in Canada for LONG TIME. Very nice and educated man.

  • In this interview, he just seemed to be on edge when asked reasonable questions.

  • It's funny and shameful watching an American interviewer charging with determination against an overrreacted act of Russian Government (remember Irak with NO nuclear stuff?).

  • why usa didnt loose international institutions relationships when it destroyed middle east asia ???

  • do you know where is georgia? have you ever been there? do you know anything about their democracy? all what you know about it is what your TV tell you, nothing more. russians - bad, georgians - good and that is all. good position! let us separate world for black and white, no more colors

  • saakashvilli doesn't care about georgians. russians and georgians were living together in peace for several centuries, we have one religion, we still love each other. the only problem is america which decided that democracy is when one of the streets of the country has name of g.bush, how it was done in the capital of georgia. it's stupid, isn't it?

  • saakashvilli is an idiot, one glance at his face is enough to understand it. open your eyes. he began this war, he began to kill people and what he is doing now is just trying to get money from america, trying to show how great he is in his struggle with russia. if you want to pay for it - pay! but don't forget if government can't solve internal problems he tries to find external enemy to unit the nation.

  • watch?v=CeICEXD6Pz8 ossetia tribute

    youtube wants to delete it!

spread this video and reupload it!

  • If I was Russian I would not even try to give this lame excuse. "We were protecting our citizens". Why do they insult our intelligence? Just have dignity and say: we wanted to destroy Georgia and we did. We did it before and nobody stopped us, so we knew nobody would stop us this time either.

I am sure that they are going to pay a high price for their actions though.

At least Georgian people died for their country and Russian occupants died for Putin's ambitions and hatred of Georgians.

  • I never liked Saakashvili and considered him histeric man. But apparently he is a genious, he made all the world to support him, although he started the war against sleeping people without any declaration of war, he is the second after Hitler!

  • actual putin is the one who is trying to invade the "sudetenland" (georiga) and the "rhineland" (ukraine)

putin is the one who already had 50000 troops mobilized to attack goergia as soon as georgia fired back at the russian separatists in south ossetia who were trying to instigate a reaction by georgia.

putin is the one who continues to kill innocent georgians after the cease fire. putin is the one who has invaded georgia, while georgian troops have already left south ossetia.

  • If you are next to a country, which is being armed and trained by US, which is leaded by a phsyhopath, shouting on TV from 2004 that Russia is an enemy, you would prefer to be prepared. It is not about being prepared, it is about who started the first. This bullshit about fireback was claimed only 5 days after the actual situation, when Saakashvili had to confess he did shell the town after Russia's claims. Why didn't he tell about that immediately? I'm from a nearby country, I know R are not so

  • russia started this. they can;t accept that all former soviet eastern european states want to be allied with america - poland, ukraine, czech republic, romania, estonia, latvia: all these countries are democracies and all have chosen to ally themselves with america. russia has to accept this. russia can not be allowed to become an empire again. look at what they have done in chechnya. and look at anna politkovskaya.

  • Sleeping people - "moving". He not only addressed people of south ossetia in georgian, he addressed theim in their native language to cease bombing of surrounding georgian villages and to resolve the problem. He has beeen offering them most open autonomy. For last 18 years russians have been harrasing Georgia any way they could and nobody cared, luckily for russians it was never brought out in open. But now they have been uncovered, their evil deeds revealed and they really don't like it.

  • aha, Russia hired a hypnotist and made Saakashvili start shelling small town full of Russian citizens during night and then gladly started the war:))))))

The people, who are speaking here, are really cinic, there is no even a hint of condemning Saakshvili for what he has done.

  • saakashvili was defending georgia from russian funded and armed separatists in south ossetia who were trying to get georgia to react so putin could invade and punish georgia for trying to enter NATO and to prevent georgia from breaking russia's oil and gas monopoly in the region.

  • there's no proof of that, it is only what Saakashvili claimed after he had to confess he did shell the town. And this confession was made 5 days after it happened. He confessed only after Russia claimed it. If there were some ordinary shoots of ossetians, the shell, which followed after that, is definitely unacceptable

  • saakashvili was wrong to attack the separatists, even though they were provoking georgia. but russia was wrong to provoke georgia through the separatists in the first place. russia was already prepared for a russian invasion before georgia fired back at the separatists. this is not coincidence. russia has said it wants to punish georgia for entering nato. well, georgia only wants to join nato so it can be protected from russian aggression. why is russia still killing innocent georgians?

  • ordinary shoot??? what part of shooting is ordinary in your opinion?

  • Sykashvilli is KILLER !!!

  • We did the same thing with Saddam (Secular thinker in the mideast)in the 80's we gave him billions of dollars in weapons because he favored our interest. Now, what is the difference with Georgia, we have given that country a billion dollars in military force. Russia has been invaded many times themselves. We are to far removed in our thinking to understand these relations.

  • Intelligent people don't talk about education to include the reading of History of another country. Most of the people of America would prefer to stay lost in the propaganda of this country and follow blindly with no skeptism of anything. It's easier to have others do the thinking.

  • I wish USA government would just stay out of other people's business.

  • Have you people read about the U.S. Shield... ummm does anyone else think that is a little suspicious that the U.S. is putting their missiles all over the world... DOMINATION... wake up everyone!

    READ SOME OTHER SOURCES...

  • They should change the regime... HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT A "LEADER" WHO KILLS CIVILIANS AND ATTACKS OTHER COUNTRIES?!! why don't people realize THEY COULD BE NEXT... think about it... THE WEST NEEDS TO START THINKING ABOUT THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH OSSETIA... SINCE WHEN DID IT STOP BEING ABOUT THE PEOPLE?! I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW IGNORANT THE WEST IS... GEORGIA ATTACKED SOUTH OSSETIA!!! GEORGIA IS KILLING CIVILIANS OF SOUTH OSSETIA!! why is no one talking about THE PEOPLE?? wake up everyone...

  • Someone please explain this scenario to me. Lets say the US had a city in Canada that was heavyly populated with american citizens. If Canada were to start dropping bombs on the city, should the US take any action against Canada? From what I can gather, this is what happened in Georgia and Russia was just reacting. Is attacking not the stance to take?

  • djuforeo,

In your hypothetic scenario you've forgot about US peacekeepers in that city in Canada, which have been staying there over last ten years according to Canada-US international agreement.

  • and of course you would have to include that all canadians living in this american city in canada were ethnically cleansed by the americans who then relocated their citizens into the area.

ps. those citizens relocated by russia into s. ossetia are all ex kgb thugs and criminals.

georgian incursions into the area are no different than russian incursions into chechnya

  • There were no international peacekeepers in Chechnya.

  • Sorry EU will not back the US on this one, our raw materials are all from Russia. The aggression came from Georgia originally. Georgia entering NATO would be a provocation. If Honduras joined in an alliance with the US it would be seen as such. Russia also has an unwritten Monroe doctrine "buffer states"

  • O my god, my post was deleted?

I think with youtube you can get different opinions on the same issue, and it's great! but if you don't want to here different opinions, why post the video?

Just wondering..I like you interviews, I am you fan but you not allow to say if we not agree with you? It's very strange.(((

    Good luck!

  • Georgia:

"Russia and Ossetia are re-building infrastructure of the city Tshenvali, as you all know the city was ripped off by Georgian missiles on August 8, 2006. Live is stabilizing, people getting back to the normal live..."

"People in Georgia is asking its government: Is Georgia going to be a new american military base for attacks on Iran?? We hate it??"

  • WHAT....clean field ROTFLMAO

  • Russia strong!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • For all of you that are uninformed or allow soundbites to replace informative news proper like Charlie Rose, the Georgians started this whole thing. Russia is a big ass bear the U.S. should get along with them. I say again, Georgia started this. South Ossetians declared they wanted to be independent from Georgia in the early 1990s.

  • South Ossetians only claim to want independence because Russia has sent and armed separatists into the area and their "peacekeepers" there rile up the S.O. people against Georgia. Russia is playing the same evil games and I hope they don't fool my fellow Americans.

And they did blow up the pipeline. Not to mention civilian areas, like schools. WTH?

    Beware of communist propaganda.

  • eileene22 = take a history lesson and read about the history behind South Ossetia, Georgia and Russia. And try reading a different source as you obviously ignorant to the fact that GEORGIA ATTACKED SOUTH OSSETIA, Russia came in to defend.

"communist propaganda" again eileene22 take a history lesson, Russia has not been communist for MANY YEARS.

  • Did I say Russia was communist? No, I didn't. But anyone who thinks the federation isn't strong armed by Putin and his KGB mindset is reading the propaganda.

I've read the history, back to 1800, and I understand. Russia did inflame the situation and did arm separatists in both South Ossetia and Abkhazian. The Russians were waiting to "react" and did so with extreme force.

BTW, those forces were being organized for at least 4 months in advance. But it was only a reaction to 8/7/08...riiiight.

  • Your remark about the pipelines is wrong. One of the pipelines was damaged by Kurdish rebels/terrorists on Turkish territory. Others are intact, but some of them was temporary closes by BP as a "security precaution."

  • As for civilian areas, Mister Saakashvili stated earlier that Russians had destroied a hospital in Tbilisi. And you know what? Georgian officials contradicted that fact lately.

  • Who's to blame for the Russian Georgian conflict

    Search this.

  • russia GDP per capita: 58th in the world

russia life expectancy: 119th in the world

most livable countries according to 2007 UN Human Development Index 2007: russia is the 67th (worse than every developed first world country)

freedom house, which ranks freedom from 1 (free) to 7 (not free), russia scores a 5.5

ever notice how people from russia always leave for the west, but people from the west never immigrate to russia. well, now you know why

  • "Never" is a wrong word. There are some.

And some russian immigrants return back, because they didn't find what they expect to living in western countries or in the US.

  • that doesn't change the fact that russia is hardly a reemerging super power. russia is closer to a third world dictatorship than a military or economic power

  • "that doesn't change the fact that russia is hardly a reemerging super power."

    Are you jealous of that?

"russia is closer to a third world dictatorship than a military or economic power"

No power = no one cares of you.

  • russia GDP per capita: 58th in the world

russia life expectancy: 119th in the world

2007 UN Human Development Index 2007: russia 67th

freedom house ranking: russia 5.5 out of 7 (7 least free)

human happiness index: russia 87th out 97

global peace index: russia is 119th out 121

    "jealous"? lol of what?

  • So what is your point knobhead, we are all aware that communism has caused misery, like wise the yanks still do that to many including their own prison nation, so after being invaded by the germans, italians, hungarians, rumanians (axis)etc. no effing wonder the Russians are defensive and wary of being surrounded by the yanks who are the only nation to nuke another twice.

  • you're right. the americans want to turn georgia into a staging ground for an invasion of russia. putin has every right to attack a democratic country on its border for trying to join a western military alliance of nations and is completely justified in fearing the US. and you're right, america has absolutely no reason what so ever to fear russia in the slightest.

i want what ever it is that you are smoking. from what you've illustrated, ignorance must really be bliss

  • Nubbs Mate, Sackofshitville attacked his own people, the civilians in Sth Ossetia with rockets and tanks, he was goaded by the neocons & jews and armed and trained by the jews. The bloke is a nutso whacko, did he really think he would succeed or did he attack to create problems for Putin & Russia? Russia should use jewish methodology and assassinate any threatening opposition with a pre-emptive strike, it happens daily in Palestine and not one govt. objects.

  • The Unites States does not have the balls to go up against Russia or China. This isn't some shithole third world country like Iran or Iraq, this is RUSSIA! Third largest economy in the world. The US short of launching nukes would have it's head handed to them in a war with Russia and China would see the oppertunity and join in likely. So you can see the Russian attitude is like "What...? What?... WHAT BITCH!" To the US.

  • The Unites States does not have the balls to go up against Russia or China. This isn't some shithole third world country like Iran or Iraq, this is RUSSIA! Third largest economy in the world. • actually, russia is MUCH closer to being a third world country than a first world country.

russia has one of the lowest life expectancy rates in the entire world. its has one of the lowest per capita gdp. it has very high poverty levels. it has no press freedom. it has no political freedom

russia is basically a third world dictatorship, being kept afloat by high gas and oil prices

  • Every Osetian is Rss.citizen.How dare Georgians claim Osetia to keep it under its thumb as Osetians are their slaves?and who is Bush?Didn't Bush Sr. invade Iraq when Iraq invaded Kuwait?and today BushInc. TOTALLY occupied Iraq. Russia has a RIGHT to occupy Georgia. It has been 300 years Russia defended these countries (including Armenia, Azerbadjian) from Mongol-Turk-Persian invasions.

  • just because russia hands out passports to people of a foreign country doesn't makes them actual russians. if the united states gave out passports to chechnya and then accused russia of attacking america you'd laugh. well it's the same thing with russia giving out passports to an area they themselves ethnically cleansed of georgians

  • No country has the right to occupy a democratically elected government's country. Georgia is free. And it has the right to be free and defend it's freedom. And we have the right to support it.

    Go back to Russia... douchebag.

  • 'we have the right?' who?we? USA?you support YOUR freedom here, idiot! Georga is not DEMOCRATIC for it suckes the blood of minorites. it is STALINIAN hateful anachronism who genocided Osetians (2000 people).they pay back!

  • Calling me an idiot?

    You wrote 'genocided'. lol

Georgia is democratic by definition... the Georgians elected their government in democratic elections.

And talking about sucking the blood of minorities (as pathetic of an analogy as it is), what is Russia doing in Georgia? Noblely defending the South Ossetians? Then why are they moving throughout Georgia and not remaining in South Ossetia?

Your obviously a clever one. You tell me...

  • that is right!

  • USA, OUT OF Trans-Caucasia!

  • Rofl. This is a joke, Russia just wanted to punish Georgia for being the aggressors of the conflict.

As an American, I must say I like the Russian art of war better than ours... it's a quick and easy ass kicking victory, then it's off to home. Fast and straight to the point, unlike American war where it drawls on for seven fucking years with no plan or defined victory.

  • I agree totally on this. Russia unlike U.S has good planners. They have objective which they achieve. Americans try to poke their nose in every one business and then ruin everything. American Allies like Tony Blair, Musharraf and Shah Of Iran became victim of American policies.

Russia is also multi-ethnic confederation where more than 100 languages are spoken. Russians let of 16 states of former U.S.S.R without exchanging single bullet.

  • apparently you aren't familiar with the war in chechnya

  • Many of the leaders of the world behave like such children.

  • sakashvili is a little brother of sadam husein, why even spend time on this person.

sorry but you have to understand millions of people actually SEE that,it's allover internet and youtube.old times are gone, so should old mentality and old folks go,i mean do changes)

74 peacekeepers were killed in s.osetiya, and you are telling this guy sakashvili democratically elected, why not tell the truth, he is terrorist! It's ashamed you support.you should see yourself from a side, hope you can do it.)

  • I want to finish my thoughts))

one mistake us did, is underestimate mentality of REALLY russian people, they nothing like mexicans or western ..lol))

also why even us bother with russia and do something about russia, when it doesn't even has a border with it, i don't understand that.

good luck!))try to be honest with your soul!AMEN!

    God bless Holly Russia! Amen!

  • it's as if as soon as someone lives in "america" they have put blinders on

,a filter in perception that is "america can do no wrong"

    the cold war is o V E R

these two "experts" on Russia from America

sound as if they still have a cold war mentality

atleast the ambassador from Russia to the United Nations got to say something

    (well kinda)

  • this is just retarded though. the US has been doing this shit for years so why does everyone get upset when russia does it. and they arent saying they are changing the regime.

  • people are angry at the US to. its just that its not correct to have an american show condemning america.

  • i dont see why not. the american people should be very very critical of their government because of how corrupt and unjust it is. its the peoples responsibility to decide who runs and whos in charge of what. people are the kings and queens of their country. I just dont get any of it really, why do we still have borders and why do we still have poor and hungry people and why do we have to pay to live on a planet we were born on.

  • don't worry, russia and georgia are just as corrupt. and their people aren't as critical as americans are

  • Why the hell should the EU have a common energy policy with the US vis-à-vis Russia.

Let the EU consolidate in the cadre of NATO, and get your troops out of Germany and don't put your missiles in Poland and the Czekh Republic and then we'll talk.

  • poland and czech republic can do what ever their democratically elected governments want to do. it's none of russia's business what these countries do.

if russia doesn't like it, too bad. get iran to disarm and then we'll talk with russia.

  • ooo shut up just russia, fuck u liar

  • what do you mean hes a liar? georgia started bombing that state/country whatever and russia came to help. Georgia wants into nato and the US provoked geogia to do it.

  • that makes no sense.

what is preventing georgia from entering NATO is the separatist instability within the country. provoking the separatists makes NATO entry less likely

what makes more sense is that russian funded and armed separatists in georgia are trying to destabilize the country and prevent its NATO entry.

this war has made NATO entry MUCH LESS likely.

russia has been provoking georgia for some time hoping that would attack and give russia the pretext for invasion

  • That definitely makes sense, because there is no way to NATO for Georgia until it settle down all its territory conflicts (in South Ossetia and Abkhazia). It is a requisite condition for all countries joining NATO.

Mister Saakashvili tried to manage South Ossetia problem by military means, despite of his official statement not to use force upon its citizens, which did just a day before the attack.

  • It is definitely not Russia who killed Russian peacekeepers and thousands ossetian civilians during night carpet bombardment of Tskhinvali. There were no Russian regular forces on Georgian territory except some hundreds of peacekeepers before the military conflict had started.

Of course, you may think that Russia provoked Saakashvili to start a war against his people, but doesn't that sounds strange to you?

  • Well, let's suppose there was a provocation. Then why Mister George W. Bush doesn't say that Georgian reaction was "disproportional"? Does he think that killing 2000 people of your own country is a proportional answer to any kind of provocation?

  • goergia never killed 2000 people. the number was closer to 200. this is still unacceptable, but it is russia who has now killed closed to 2000 georgians in retaliation.

this is all about russia being upset with poland accepting a missile system, and upset with ukraine and georgia about to join nato.

if russia gets into a prolonged guerrilla war with georgia, they will lose, just like they lost in afghanistan.

the cold war is over. you and putin need to realize you lost it.

  • Your off your head, your figures are pure fiction and who are you trying to fool, notice Hitchens in your fvourites, say it all don't it?

  • russia GDP per capita: 58th in the world

russia life expectancy: 119th in the world

2007 UN Human Development Index 2007: russia 67th

freedom house ranking: russia 5.5 out of 7 (7 least free)

human happiness index: russia 87th out 97

global peace index: russia is 119th out 121

i also favorite a lot of chomsky videos. and like he would say, everything is verifiable. all my facts are out there to be found by anyone with half a brain

  • nubbs,

    "goergia never killed 2000 people."

Did you see ruins of South Ossetian city of Tskhinvali on your TV? Did you see graves made right in house yards in Tskhinvali on your TV? Dead bodies on Tskhinvali streets on your TV? Trucks full of coffins on your TV?

Georgian officials state they has less than 200 dead on their side.

As to Cold War, it's the terminology the US uses. You are used to hunt ghosts.

  • russians have killed over 2000. georgians have killed about 200 separatist who started this fight.

stop reading pravda. you know, USSR said the same thing when they invaded poland, and czechoslovakia and hungary too.

  • Repeating the statement doesn't make it true. There's no evidence for that even from Georgians.

  • Georgian officials:

Total number of people killed since the launch of the armed conflict reached 215 on the Georgian side as of August 19

    69 of them are civilians

    70 soldiers are missing

over 1,469 people were injured and 446 of them remain at the moment in hospitals.
