The importance of the eschatological motive in the cultural life of mankind is overlooked by those who are obsessed by the facts, but the attitude nevertheless enters into the faith of the scientist that the conquest of knowledge of the world is ultimately possible, "given time." It is this attitude that accounts for the optimism of the scientist,
Your argument against infinity is flawed. Your imposing a condition that each broke brother won't be different in one sense but that doesn't mean that there still is no potential for actual infinite variance between each brother as in the inifinite chain of brothers each can be infinitely different from one another physically yet still at the same time broke.
Your point has no relevance to the analogy - in fact, I don't know why you thought this constitutes an argument. All the brothers in the room are different from eachother, but if they all broke, then they are all broke. The analogy of '1 pound' means 'existence'. My point was to refute the infinite regress of existent things, not lack of diversity amongst existent things! :)
@mujtahid2006 But your presumption is that existence itself is something unchanging that hadn't existed before or in different forms ignoring the fact that this existence could be just another variance of an infinite much how each infinite brother is different from on another.
You've just refuted yourself. There cannot be an infinite regress of limited existent things (proven by my argument in the video). Your argument that an infinite chain of regressive varieties, falls down because they too are limited finite existent things. Now, please answer the main argument, if you can :)
First of all you don't know what the full scope of what those limitations are and at the sametime you're misrepresenting infinity. What's infinite can infact be limited in a sense. You got refuted when you were asked about the afterlife because even though one can maybe count time moment by moment, a question about when that existence will end automatically leads to infinity.
@mujtahid2006 if attributes means limitation then one must beg the question about God with his attributes.
Did he himself not undergo some sort of change in itself when it went into Universe creation and maintaining mode?
How or why does a perfect and complete being have wants or create anything?
The problem with alot of you theists is you don't have answers to the paradoxes, you just pass them off to a convenient father figure and then say "we can't comprehend it"
@mujtahid2006 2 youtube channels debunk the Quran and the creed of Islam check them out; therationalizer and CEMBadmins. I'd also advise you to check out the channels theramintrees and evid3nc3 for well-presented, respectful and insightful critiques of religion. I'm an apostate from Islam BTW. Islam isn't rational, I defy anyone to watch those 4 channels thoroughly and then still believe that Islam is rational.
it's amazing that on one hand you claim that God is all powerful but needs the help of mere mortals to help Him kill infidels and wage Jihad. Seems to me that God could kill anyone he wishes without any help. Why would God ever endorse Jihad in the first place?
Muslims are so darnn backward and foolish! Why not spend your time figuring out how to improve your communities in the Muslim Countries rather than asking if there is more than one God? Who cares?
@genie0390 [1] "Why not spend your time figuring out how to improve your communities in the Muslim Countries" muslims are doing that for your kind information. Its true that God is all powerful and all knowing however for us he has made this universe we live in to be a place to sow and reap. He can give us food and cure without us having to make effort but that is not so. He rids us of hunger and thurst through means he created, Jihad is thus a means to establish justice and defend truth
"Jihad is thus a means to establish justice and defend truth"
this is the fatal flaw within Islam. justice and truth are highly subjective. wahhabis have a different view of justice and truth than do moderate Ismailis
all this combined with the fact Islam does not have a central authority to set dogma means that each cleric is free to interpret the Qur'an as he sees fit, leaving room for deranged fanatic thinking meaning endless warfare between Islam and others
@genie0390 [2] God can and has done this without help of mortals as well. But throught the history humans play the role (like Prophets) >through< whom God guides people. God IS ABLE to make us all believers without prophets now isn't he?. But he has made this world to be a place for our test. He shows us the signs and gives us the choice to believe or disbeilieve. ALL your questions are answered in the Qur'an itself. Now is God just makes us all believers whats the whole point of hell/heaven??
"ALL your questions are answered in the Qur'an itself."
great, then perhaps u can refer me to those passages in the Qur'an calling for women to be treated harshly, covering their entire heads, forced wearing of burkas, stoning of women for adultery, genital mutialations, honor killings, preventing women from driving, preventing girls attending schools, calling for 4 witnesses in case of allegations of rape, cutting off hands of thieves,..just for starters
@genie0390 well unfortunately most of the things you are mentioning have nothing to do with Islam at all. What is wrong with you that you ask of verses from me.
@genie0390 well I can see you really are not aware of what you are talking about. I can give you verses about covering their entire heads (Which is recommended for men and they wear Caps), stoning of Any Muslim for adultery (if it is proved, but for that 4 upright members of society must act as witness to the actual act of intercourse), amputating of hands of thieves (which is the maximum pentalty and not the fixed penalty and will not be enforced in most cases, depends on individual case).
so do provide me the passages requiring the covering of heads and the stoning of adulterous people and the requirement for 4 witnesses to acts of intercourse
seems to me that a woman committing adultery is not going to be stupid enough to do it before 4 witnesses. further, a man raping a woman is not going to do it before 4 witnesses which would prove rape. In effect this provision in Sharia allows men to cover up rape because no woman would dare say she was raped
@genie0390 [1] well there is crime in just about every society. Does rape and murder and incest not occur in the Developed countries of the world? America has a higher rate of such crimes even though it is to be a role model for the countries in many aspects. Just like that there are things that happen in muslim societies too. We DO try to deal with them but crime cannot be completely eliminated now can it?
nobody denies crime doesn't exist in the Western World, but what is this thing about 4 witnesses? Our women don't need this kind of unrealistic standard to prove rape. I have been told that if a Muslim woman claims she was raped but can't come up with 4 witnesses she can be accused of adultery, is this correct?
@genie0390 [i] I am glad to see that you are not trolling around and actually asked a question back, Cheers. The "but what is this thing about 4 witnesses?" to make the answer short, the Honor of women is very high in Islam. If a person (man/woman) says that a women has comminted adultery and is unable to bring 4 witnesses he shall be punished 80 lashes. If he/she brings 4 witnesses and in cross examination it is found they are lying all will get 80 lashes. This is because the honor of...
@genie0390 [ii] of a woman is VERY precious. And to put a false charge on her honor is a most serious offence in the sight of God. That is the reason that if a person rapes a woman, his punishment (maximum) is to be death penalty. Please note that in Islam there is also a whole science of Law and there are punishments prescribed for crimes, but it is not that there is a single punishment for that crime of any degree. A thief maybe big thief or small thief (bank robber e.g). Studying this law...
@genie0390 [iii] is something that many people have not done and they keep making anti Islam propaganda and spreading it. Now getting to the point. In Islam DNA test e.t.c IS allowed to convict a rapist. I do not think going into any more detail is needed here. This should suffice. Please do take your time out to acutally read what the muslim holy book has to say. As for treatement of Women in Islam, there is a FULL chapter in Qur'an called An-Nisa (The Women) this is chapter 4. I put verse 4:19
@genie0390 [2] The problem is that your media takes these things and shows it as "Islamic" deeds, they are NOT. And thus essentially individuals like you who are quite blank as to what Islam and Muslims is are forced to think that what muslims do HAS To Be Islam. Well all things that Christians do does not reflect Christianity, all things that Hindus do does not reflect Hinduism. They Do things that are inline with their religion and also things that are not inline with their religion.
@genie0390 [3] Many times the religious followers of a religion (that appear religious) may also be just following what they saw their parents or forefathers doing and did not read their scriptures. As for things like Honor killings, this is murder Qur'an 6:151. And a person that takes life loses the right to live. Forced wearing of Burkas, most muslim women do not wear Burka and there is no compulsion in religion Qur'an 2:256. I invite you to watch the deenshow this will answer many questions.
@genie0390 [4] Finally muslim women are able to drive in all countries except in Saudi Arabia. And the Saudi government has made this clear enough that the problem here has to do with the Traditions of the society rather than the Religion. If religion forbade women to drive than women in Pakistan, Egypt, Malaysia e.t.c would also not be driving if you know what I mean. As for knowledge, "Seeking knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim (male and female)." (Hadith, Saying of Prophet of Muslims)
@genie0390 [5] finally, if your news channel tells you that muslims did something claiming it to be "Islamic" does not mean it definately has to be. I can see that the people giving the news themself are completely blank about what Islam and muslims is all about because they never actually studied it themself. And there are enough people out there making Money by insulting and demonizing Islam and Muslims that show up as self proclaimed "experts" on Islam. They don't know much either (usually).
@genie0390 "O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness, that ye may Take away part of the dower ye have given them,-except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; on the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good. " (4:19)
Please do read this verse with carefully consideration to meaning
"1 Blessed be He in Whose hands is Dominion; and He over all things hath Power;- 2 He Who created Death and Life, that He may try which of you is best in deed: and He is the Exalted in Might, Oft-Forgiving;- " (Qur'an 67:1-2)
@mikesomething did you even watch the video, your comment shows the type of Dogma you are following. Just like the Christians who go around typing God is Father & the Son & the Holy Spirit BUT it is 1 God not three.
lol "he just exists".....i just dont see how you can believe that.

Existence precedes essence, something must exist first, before it can have attributes. Infinite varieties on non-existence, are still non-existent :)
mujtahid2006 9 months ago
@mujtahid2006 actually they it would be existent since attributes would be a necessity for that variance.
Your view of existence is very narrow and unfounded.
