The only reason it seems like glow has more instant power is because your RPM range, in a glow motor your already spinning higher R's with smaller prop, but your actually not making any more thrust, it just appears you are...gas has the tourqe to swing bigger props which will lead to more thrust, you just have to find the right balance of RPM, and THRUST output..I have the New 125 sized hanger 9 funtana, with the DLE30cc...POWERHOUSE!!!!!
You could prolly do it but I would go with a 4 stroke glow. They seem to have more instant power for climbing out of hovers. My friend is planning on replacing this gas motor with a glow
I recently flew my Extra with OS 91. it flew like a champ, but now when I just started it, it won't low idle comfortably. I was flying it without the cowl. now I have the cowl with a fuel dot. I'm going to replace the glow plug with one of those deeper plugs. do i need to lean the bottom end? I'm scared of a dead stick at this early stage in my carreer. engine may only be half broken in, got it used. excellent compression.
Have the g20 on a bigstik 60. has 40 flights on it with 1 dead stick cause it ran out of gas, that dont count. the other way to get it to stall is throw a rag in the prop.another incredible engine by zenoah.runs on belray 32:1 after lawnboy break in. what prop is used in the video jason??? thanks 540
The airplane belongs to my friend but I was present while he built it. It went together in a few days and the CG was no problem. He had first set it up with a Evolution 1.00 but we had problems getting it to run reliably so he switched to the zenoah motor. It does require more than 1/3 throttle to hover but it seems to have plenty of power. It sounds money too.
it really depends on which prop you using but good point the best prop that was tested with this engine is a 16x6 which gave out 14-15lbs of thrust(max throttle)with 9000rpm
so 20 cc must be a os 160fx he needs a 18x6 ,thats if they havent folded the plane up by now,,im helping a friend whos running a spe 26 cc gasser and its only rated at 13 lbs with 18 x6 but glow power is stronger,,it musy be real nose heavy then.
well im not sure where you live but cermark has a combo extra or yak and a spe26cc it will hover fine if you keep it real light and live below 3000 feet above sea.level,,i dont believe theres any 20 cc,s out there they are all 25 to 26 cc.
Beautiful... any tip for the engine break-in?thanks.

I have the electric little brother of this plane and love the way it flys.

hey im getting this plane. do you think it could be possible to put a 26cc engine on? or would it be to heavy and upset CG?

It didnt seem to have much climb out from a hover ?I've been looking at this motor for my .90 Velox.

Ya i was going to put one of these 20cc on my extra 300s that im making, but it might be really nose heavy so ill have to see.
