Man I was at the NAMM as well and you were at the top of my list of people I wanted to meet. I went to all your sponsors but I never found you. Kinda bummer but hopefully some other time!
Greettings from Costa Rica Mike!!!!! I am a 40 years-old drummer and man I gotta tell you.....your videos have improved my drumming like a 10000%....you don't know yet how valuable your teaching is for guys like me that have been playing in the same way for years...Now I can say I have such an inspirational and useful tool to continue working on it...Ride on my friend..!!!!!
MAD skills. So INSANE with his kick drum. In fact I wonder why he never uses double kick. I realise he does more with 1, then many guys can with 2, but that just makes me wonder what HE would be like with double kick. Then again if it's not broken why try to fix it. Very Inspiring.
You are truly an inspiration Mike. You have me doing things on the kit and practice pad I never thought possible. Thanks for all the time you put into us. I look forward to the day I meet you.
Hey Mike, I just picked up your Vater signature sticks. I LOOOOOVE these sticks. Dude they are awesome. I have used the Fusions from Vater but I really like the feel of your sticks. Awesome dude!
I love how I converted from a drummer to a bass player yet I still watch Mike's videos and I haven't touched a drum set in almost a year. I feel so obligated to stay tuned because of his posative attitude and skill. God forbid I haven't played drums in forever but I still practice what he teaches with my hands and feet lol
MIke.... I think you have been really improving massively since you been doing these videos! Kinda like playing golf... you got to see your form. Now that's education!
that was sweet, thanks for the video mike! It was a pleasure meeting you at the NAMM show on Friday! Can't wait to start using the new pad when its out!
Great lick Mike. At the risk of getting off the subject or lick of the video (much like the way you explained in the beginning), what was that you did between the toms and bass drum at 5:36?! It sounded Swiss triplet-ish but I'm not sure.
Great lesson! It was awesome meeting you at NAMM this past saturday. Really enjoyed your polyrhythm clinic. And when you asked me who was my favorite drummer there and I said you, I meant it!
No Matter how lazy I get, every time I see Mike Beat the Hell out of his kick it makes me get up and go teach my kit a lesson... I am nowhere near mike in skill but he inspires me every time!!
Hey mike this don't have anything to do with the video..But what is the difference between the coated heads and the clear heads that you use i see you change them often?
@98JLdrums: Has great hang with Cobus as well. Super sweet guy. I tried just to mention people that I had never met before. Cobus and I met last year at NAMM and have been tight ever since.
@drumteacher76 please could you put a vid thats about ten minutes long with you just playing beats and fills i love listening to you drumming your sweet it would be really good, sorry if its abit specific but yeah that would be nice, great drumming as all ways, Hope you can do this soon :D
come on mike that was ridiculous D: you got way better since the last video I saw great lesson, BTW i want to know if there is a trick to get that short sound from the crashes when you put a bit of pressure on it (I tried but I dont get that trashy sound 0: 19 or 0:25 or thats because the mics?
I like the way you go over a lick every way. You don't just show what to hit, you explain how to practice it, examples of how to use it, and outline the difficulties people will have.
Much better than drum teachers I've had in the past who just feel like showing off.
Mike, I don't know if you reply on here but, I got a intermediate snare solo drum book for Christmas and I opened it up and was like..."Fuck, that looks really hard."
