Creative is cool in some snakes...like spiders. But things like Angel Of Death, Soul Sucker and the like are just silly and taking it too far IMO. If I could have any animal in the world (and there were no issues with me being able to keep it happy and healthy) I'd have a painted hunted dog...they are the most incredibly beautiful and intelligent creatures. But more realistically, I aim to be the owner of a kinkajou and a fox or two at some point.

As for the names of the snakes, I think the creative names should be used, because it's easier to put a face to a name, and if someone's so keen on using the scientific terminology, then the scientific name can be used as well as the common name, but they shouldn't have to relate to each other :)

If I could choose any animal in the world, I'd choose the [extinct] Pachyrhachis, which grew up to 1 meter, it was a snake but it had two really tiny leg-like things. It also was a great swimmer. It lived in the Cretacious period, so it would certainly be cool to own.

When it comes to naming snakes, I'd prefer the more scientific names, I love science and all that's its given us from medicine to cure and treat diseases to technology like computers and game consoles. And if I could have any animal it would be one of those tiny monkeys, a finger monkey. As messed up as that name sounds, they are cool, cute little monkeys about the size of your finger.
