  • @abrookes1985 Tomahawk, the song "God Hates a Coward", or Oceansize the song "Catalyst" would be good.

  • that guitar solo gives me vertigo.

  • Look at them thrash their guitars. Wonderful.

  • God Jim rules so much I love his stage presence it is so... present

  • Would love to hear Vic R's pub-singer version of this.

  • Frank zappa could kick the living shit out of this musical excrement

  • @Frobe1357 any one who'd say anything like that completly misses the point of everything zappa did.

    good job

  • @magicalbilly aaaaaaaaaaaand epic burn

  • @magicalbilly How did I miss the point all I was saying was that Zappa was ten times as good this rubbish

  • @Frobe1357 ... the guys reply to your comment was funny and true.

  • @jackjude Really because as far as I saw it, it was just him trying to make a point

and completely missing the point of what my comment was saying

  • I've got nothing against Zappa, shame so many of his fans are sneering, condescending cunts. Except for Jonny P of course, bless his little heart.

  • @KenPurchase how are they sneering condescending cunts, all my freinds love zappa, and their very kind, respectful men and women

  • Fiery Gun Hand is on DANCE LIKE A CRAZY BASTARD!!!!!

  • both frank and timmy are inspiring, frank coaxed his musicians to play even better than they did before they did in his band, there contribution to modern music is unrivalled, would have liked to see zappa live, would like to see the cardiacs live again, both as good as each other, shame frank is lost to us,and timmy is ill,get well soon,

  • Cardiacs are AWESOME! BUT, with out Zappa, they wouldn't be as great as they are! Zappa did it 25 yrs before!

  • What Matters now is tims health , we have records , we have videos to remind us how great timmy and cardiacs are , just get better mate.

    All love xxxxx

  • I never get tired of watching this , i feel elation , sadness , joy , and sexy all in one.

  • Just listened to this and cried all the way through

  • GET WELL TIMMY!!!!!!!!! The world truly needs you.

  • Would you all just STFU and enjoy this extraordinarily brilliant band!!!!!!

  • Frank Zappa once stated that he added humour to his work in order to draw people in, so he could expose them to the serious music accompanying it. His goal was not to cater to the people who already 'get it', it was to convert those who don't (at least from what I know). And of course he made a lot more money. Job well done.

  • tis a thing of beauty... shhh

  • BEAT SONG EVER. Tim breaks a string so has trouble with his guitar solo's at the end.

  • I hate rating people against eachother or saying who's better than who because all musicians just add the the beauty of music. In my opinion Frank Zappa is the best composer in the 10th century and in the top 200 guitarists. I understand most of the people on the Cardiacs video page won't agree. I'm fine with that. The only album I like from the Cardiacs is A Little Man and a House and the Whole World Window, which to be honest, the first listen was better than most of Zappa's...

  • Sanity for an insane world! How I miss the Cardiacs. If you don't get it, you never will!

  • Cardiacs are fucking hardcore.

    :-D

  • jesus hold his fiery hand to the gun,

he went off dead?? sorry but i don't understand it, can anyone explain me?

  • @lanimibus

    Probably not.

  • @lanimibus

If you don't understand the cardiacs, go back to watching coldplay you fuckwit!

  • For anyone interested in obtaining the mp3 of this song it's available on their official website.

  • hello all cardiacs lovers i am selling a maresnest video on ebay 24th oct number 280411409094 check it out!

  • Sounds like the Lead Singer of the Pixies (Frank Black), covering a Dead Kennedys song with Radiohead as backing band..... LOVING IT !!!!. Hello's the the MySpace Lesbain chatroom girls, Chauncey, Raven, Franno, and Ruca. xx.

  • No it doesn't.

  • @LucidityOfReality No, sounds like all of those bands covering this song.

  • It doesn't sound like any of those things. All those bands suck. Go back to college and write a zine about it.

  • Tims an awsome singer, tops some of the modern days! 3 words, Tims The Best!!

  • my gods god i miss u timmy

  • Yes, they're mine too.

And we all miss Timmy and want him back.

  • He's not gone yet, although

"At the time of his cardiac arrest Tim Smith effectively died."

    - THE ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN

    He's recovering, though...inch by inch.

  • Cardiacs.

    I love them.

    And I miss them.

  • Sameeee, arn't they all together apart from the woman person thingy??

I know Tim had a heart attack but hes fine now!

  • Fine? Is he?

I don't know about that. Word on the street is that we probably wont be seeing them again. Sorry.

  • That's depressing.

  • Where can I buy cardiacs cds?

    Can't find owt online

  • Idem... I would like to buy Sing to God pt 1 and 2 together.

  • It's available at isohunt (google it)

  • Their official website, the store's closed atm

  • ALPHABET BUSINESS CONCERN or ORG-ANISED website or usually some stuff (pretty good sometimes) on EBAY ....

  • This makes me feel very, very shiny. I want to have their children, but I'm a bloke dammit.

  • guys, go here youtube abcglobus. Yes the Alphabet Business Concern. Enter at your peril.

  • don't you love how Tim often struggles to play his own music? (or was this one of the idiot poole's? it was around that time...)

  • the best group ever i even followe them to france

  • Really? wow that's good :) c'est bien!

  • This stuff reminds so much of Zappa in the mid 70's... The same sort of brilliant musical mind at work.. I can almost see Ruth Underwood playing percussion here.

  • im with you on this one as a fanatical zappa fan this band are up there with the master have you heard jon pools zappa tribute album its fab

  • This is better than Zappa.

  • @loafpork Ya right.

  • @skaterat121 It is,,, I think... Frank Zappa is a bit overrated in my view... He's a genius no doubt,, very smart man, but I almost enjoy his interviews and ideas about things more than his music. First of all, his voice bugs me, second, his humor is kind of corny.. yeah, it's kind of surreal and all, but there's still something kind of lame about it, he's not that funny. Joe's Garage was a great record, but a lot of his stuff is just wanky noodling.. sorry,,, Frank Zappa is overrated.

  • @loafpork Cardiacs is much more interesting than Zappa... so is Mr. Bungle...... I also fucking hate Rush.

  • @loafpork Another example is we're only in it for the money. Released during the height of the psychedelic movement, a complete parody. Most people don't understand the work of Frank Zappa, and underrate it. Once you've listened to the complete albums a few times... he becomes in a league of his own. I have yet to listen to a full Cardiac album as of yet, but It's like saying that any pop band is better than The Beatles. Frank Zappa (and Captain Beefheart), invented avant-garde.

  • @skaterat121 I know he's a genius, his music just doesn't appeal to me the way Cardiacs do... Cardiacs weren't just another "Avant-garde" psychedelic band... they're weird in a way that Zappa never could be, also more melodic in a lot of ways. I've listened to plenty of Zappa's work.... Fuck Avant-Garde... heh heh

There's a reason Cardiacs are sort of ignored and why stuff like Zappa is 'mainstream' psychedelia... because Zappa is obvious.. sorry, he's not that great to me.

  • @skaterat121 I also understand his work is parody.. he makes fun of everything. This is the thing about Zappa... He's extremely CLEVER, but clever doesn't necessarily make me want to listen to his music, or move me. There's something kind of cornball "Ray Stevens" about his humor too,, I can't quite place it, but it doesn't make me laugh.

  • @skaterat121 i like zappa but i have to say tim smith is above and beyond, hes ina league of his own.he can layer a song with so many hidden melodies that you can always listen to his music and hear something new.there is no comparison in my opinion.used to have a tape of jon poole doing zappa covers that were more interesting than the originals.says it all really

  • @loafpork maybe even better than bungle :P

  • Excellent. Very very unlucky with the string breaking (both guitars).

  • Isn't it amazing that you can go into a large music outlet and find nothing by the Cardiacs, King Crimson and maybe only one or two Zappa CDs?

  • yes it is. And you know what? It's a bit annoying.

  • is the singer a new dave thomas?

  • They're amazing. I met Tim Smith ^_^

    Heheh.

  • that's what it's all about... right there.

  • god bless em.

  • Fuckin hell, They are awesome !!!

  • If ever there was a good response to the sad passing of Kevin Greening the other day then this is it, RIP Kevin. Yes it is him at the beginning of this excerpt of Cardiacs greatness. Cheers mate, you will be missed.

  • Great song, but one thing kinda bugs me. I hear an organ...but I don't see one.

  • They have some sort of electronic device which pre records keyboards and certain effects that plays in time with the song. Im sure it will have a name! They use it live all the time.

  • thats the thing with cardiacs ,you see and hear things that arent there...

  • Just a backing track, it'll play back the pre-recorded organ and synth stuff, the drummer is wearing headphones if you see. He'll be playin along to the backing track and a click track, thats how we tend to do it in this music game ;)

These guys are fookin geniuses thou. No ONE LIKE THEM !! respect

    Tommy T

  • Yeah that's how a lot of early synth based bands did it live, it's just easier then having to find a member to play backing tracks, and then to also have to cart around ridiculously expensive synthesizers etc.

As well as a large majority of EBM bands still.

  • Glad someone else got there first, i didn't wanna have to explain the obvious :p

  • once upon a time they did every single note live. sorely missed.

  • Still aesthetically and philosophically pleasing....I still love them after many many years. Good on yer

  • I thank someone for Cardiacs every day, the bloke who didn't tell me about them all those years ago deserves a massive twatting! Nov 07, bring it on :D

  • whatever people say about past and present cardiacs members.......doesn't matter.

    just thank christ for cardiacs!

    nov 2007-roll on!!

  • I had the misfortune to witnees Poole's new band made out of bits of the (yawn) wildhearts (yawn) at the Cardiacs Astoria gig Nov 2006 (as I always attend). It was horrible. I felt embarassed, you know? Poole's band was THAT useless, and he kept swearing like a 12 year old. Poole is an accomplished guitarist, no question, but he's one hell of a twat.

  • am new on here, but how rude-I know Jon well-he'd be upset by people, who don't know him, calling him an twat! fair enough you don't like his band but whats with the personal attacks? I bet you don't go up to him & call him a twat. Tim swears on stage(am at tons of Cardiacs gigs),you're not calling HIM an idiot. Jon's a really nice guy, hold off your stupid comments.Cardiacs love him to bits, you'd alienate yourself from them (the band you claim to be a fan of)slagging Jon off.

  • Don't ever take this down from you tube. It's sort of important.

  • totally agree, love it when jon does solo and tim gives him this dirty look and looks away HAHAHA classic

  • he sometimes kisses Kavus :)

  • I never saw the dirty look in this (most excellent) clip. I like how Tim always stays out the way for Jon or kavus doing a solo. I wonder if Jim was rude to someone before this was taped - he barely features in his imposing stauesque form. That's a shame.

  • my comment was to CRASHTV by the way :-) newbie here. I just don't like cowards who a) probably don't get up on stage themselves & b)shout insults from behind the safety of their keyboards & c) make it personal rather than saying what they do or don't like about the work ESPECIALLY when they don't even know the person in question! there, I feel better now :-) roll on nov '07, eh?!?!

  • Well, his stage presence/persona is not necessarily his real self. I can't help it if found his act embarassing.

Also, I've followed Cardiacs for many years. Crashtv (it's a band) spent over 10 years playing (guitars & that) on the London curcuit.

Finally there's an art to swearing well. Mr Poole is no exponent of it live, but that's just my taste.

And finally-finally, I thought Mr Poole's band played rather naive music.

And finally-finally-finally, who cares anyway? :)

  • idiot Poole

  • it was still effing awesome to see this live rendition..its one of my faves due to the *unreal* gtr solo on the album version, but this version is also thoroughly enjoyable, so full of energy! they still got it!!

  • Both Tim & Jon break a string during this song. Can you spot it!? You catch it much better on TV.

  • This is the only video of theirs I've seen where it sounded nowhere nearly as good as on the album. Usually they get it spot on. Weird shit.

  • Bit of a sloppy rendition, but bless their little hearts, it shows they're human too.

  • ? Exactly the same as the album. A perfect rendition.

  • This version of the song is much better than the one on the Sing to God album. By the way, who is that annoying bald guy on the left? The album would have been better if Dominic, Tim Quy, William D. and Sarah had worked on it as well.

  • SUPER!!!

  • The riverside club anyone? Hope Day....
