Random- but, the song is actually in a 5/4 time signature. The 5/4 time signature naturally makes us uncomfortable because of the extra beat. Just a random tid-bit.

While he may have written down 5/4 time when he wrote it for himself to play, I'm not really sure that it actually is 5/4 time. It feels much more like 10/8 to me, with two groups of three followed by two groups of two.

3+3+2+2, and when you tap your foot or conduct it, you tap for each of those groups. I don't think 5/4 is ever counted like this.
