There is no such thing as a humane rodeo unless it only consists of the events like barrels, poles, the herding events, etc and all tools are used correctly. The bucking animals pose a huge risk of breaking their legs (that tobiano horse was lucky) or necks if they stumble. The roping events are awful too. They easily break the legs and necks of babies and there is no way to make that humane. At bigger events, the claves are sometimes dragged through mud by their necks. It is absolutely sick.</3
If you banned the strap, the prod, the spurs, and any other 'tool' you use to provoke the animals to buck, or perform out of fear, you could at that point, possibly have a humane rodeo in the making. A showmanship of horse and rider, instead of a tormented horse vs contestant, which rodeo has. How is that humane? A frightened calf gets its tailed pulled off in a scramble, contestant couldn't care less. "It's just a tail" she exclaimed. Tell me, how is that humane?
People from the cities often say that this is cruelty, because they see a half-ton bull as they see their beagles and have not ever been even slightly close to a lifestyle different of the city kind. Their principal mistake is considering animals as equal to humans, because pet owners are sick people who can´t diference between an animal and a human and they are just selfish bastards who think they can be owners of a life, mutilating animal´s nature to be free. I don't know where people come up with the story that animals in rodeos end up going to the slaughter house. That's not how we do things in Wyoming anyway. And the flank strap is never tight. It actually sits pretty loose. It's like having a piece of a popcorn kernal stuck in between your teeth. It's annoying, but it doesn't hurt. Same thing. It doesn't hurt them, it's just annoying and gives them something to kick at. That's not cruel

@IRaceBarrels, What a silly question. I could say the same about you, spending all your time on YT supporting animal abuse.Yes, I have worked with cattle, yes to horses. @wycowgirl09 i loved wy. and the rodeos. it's defiantly the cowboy state. but when i went there it seemed a little to remote for me. i'm trying to move to mt. i liked it there a little more
I do respect your opinion on the matter, but I do have a question for you. I am a rancher and live paycheck to paycheck so to say. I get one check per year when I sell my calves in the fall. The calf roping to some people is in there words "inhumane". That I can see if I was in there shoes. But yet, I do that daily at home. I do it to doctor the sick calves. There are times I need to do it to cows too.Its more econimical for me.
@LizBizToo I have a question for you, how does one "train" a horse to buck? It's not like training a race horse. But like a race horse, they have to want to do it. Not all horses want to run around a track, not all horses want to buck either.
@25mtcowboy, roping a sick calf for meds versus clotheslining a calf at full speed are hardly equal. Do you seek to injure your calves? Your steers? Steer-busting is an event designed to injure the steer. Y'all don't call yourselves cowpunchers for nothing. And someone, please, tell me why bull-riding was useful on the range. I have to laugh at the insistence that the flankstrap is loose. It isn't. All broncs gape their mouths, a clear sign of distress. Wasn't it fun to watch them fall!
@AnimalLeftist On the ranch yes, there are times I have to "clothesline" a calf or animal if they're running away from me. Probably because they saw the size of my needle lol. Have you ever worked with cattle before? Or horses? And please don't dance around the question. I've had 3 horses go down on me while riding them!!! on a trail! it doesn't just happen in the arena.
@25mtcowboy but these calves arent sick. This is very dangerous to the calves as it has a very high potential to break their legs or necks. You wouldn't risk killing a perfectly healthy calf over and over again now would you? And I am in no way trying to be disrespectful, just stating my point of view, as I don't live on a ranch, but I do do my research.
@rodeoguy235 .. i see... so you don't believe in free speech, and you would demonize those who you judge disagreed with you? yea, that's how wars start.. i find the ugly comments based on my posing a question here just amazing .. in my opinion, such verbal judgements and attacks are never productive
Rodeo will never be stopped because the people who try to stop it never really understand how these animals are treated. You can read all the stories and books you want. If you really want someone to take your opinon seriously (for it or against it) you need to visit the ranches and see how they are truly treated. It would be piontless to debate anything with you because you have no knowledge on the subject.
I tried sending the video to you, but you have some kind of block and it wouldn't let me. You can still see the video by typing in "Horse is killed, dies at the Villages Polo Club" in the search box on youtube.
@katiedog20 Excellent, Katie. Someday perhaps you'll really begin to see what true pointlessness is. I gave you my opinion. That's all I feel the need to do. I do not *need* to play the devil's advocate. I do not *need* to explain myself further to you and am not interested in continuing a conversation that includes highly judgmental, verbal attacks. Period. End of discussion. Thanks for apology for your language.
That's like asking can hunter jumping, horse racing, cutting, endurance, or polo be humane? These are sports that involve animals. In ANY sport the risk of an accident happening is always there. As far as this rodeo video goes, I know for a fact that the contestants, stock contractors, and pickup men take care of their animals and take great pride in that. The reason I know this is because I grew up around all of them and attended the night show alot.
@katiedog20 Hi Katie, thanks for your input here. As I said earlier in this thread: I don't doubt that there are many cowboys and girls who love and care for animals, and that there are rodeos that enforce higher standards. For me, the more I read on this issue the more I've confirmed the answer for myself to my question posed in this vid: 'yes, rodeos are inhumane'...
.and let me make myself clear: in this vid, I did not accuse anyone of anything....I simply posed the question to viewers!
@katiedog20 Agreed; of course there is risk of accidents in any sport. In my opinion, I would not put rodeos in quite the same category as polo, etc.....!!!
you look like a damn faggit! on your web site! LizBiztoo, what the fuck is that shit, you where there at the rodeo looking to hope to see horse dick! you fucking fag!
inhumane was slautering Indians what do think about that! noboby wants to talk about that , but when Haiti needed help , everyone drop what they where doing " OH! we need to help as americans!" bullshit! you "wanna-be Hippies!" and thats what ya'll are! no agruement there! is there! Indian issue is sweap underneith rug , Ya'll "MiMic" what you don't understand! "Acitvits" made word , for "Wanna-Be" help first americans instead of niggers! Now! what! say somthing! the general will always FLY!
@HogTusk09 It certainly was inhumane.. (I have Cherokee ancestry btw).. in my opinion to hold on to those feelings in your heart is not healthy for anyone; most of all, you. And noone knows what the future brings ('always be that way'?). Your word NOW served me as a reminder to live in that NOW moment. Not yesterday. Or tomorrow. This format might serve as a place for you to vent...but what are you doing right NOW to make a difference? Cursing at people online helps your tribe HOW?
@HogTusk09 'If you're not part of the solution then you're a part of the problem.' An old quote. Nuff said. Do you realize you're wasting your time calling me a faggot, etc etc....and this is the kind of image you want to put forth for your tribe?
I personally don't find this situation completely desturbing for me. Don't get me wrong I love horses! But this is only 8 seconds of work every event, which doesn't sound over exhausting. I don't know their living or transport conditions that could be more bothersome then the actual event. Just for the fact I don't know how their treated in that regaurd.. I am against calf roping or jerking though. That seems to be more like infliction of pain then what broncs deal with..
@briwest11 Broncos are treated better than most people's kids are actually haha. A lot of them aren't even broken in yet, so they would do that sort of bucking anyway if someone gets on them, and transportation is handled the same way it is for every horse. Just load em in on a trailer. The horses are well fed though, and they only have to do 8 seconds of work... so it's not inhumane at all.
@JBeerline All your comments are correct. I rode bareback Broncs when I was a teenager. It was probably more dangerous for me than the horse. The horses will let you know if the straps ropes are too tight.
All these, "Animal (More Rights than humans)" people need to get a reality check. I love horses more than anything else and did NOT go out of my way to hurt any of the horses I rode. I ask the Animal rights guy who put this thing up if he ever enjoyed a steak dinner or a nice bit of KFC?
I have to tell you something. Most of what keeps Cody Wyoming alive is the rodeo. Do you really think that the people who have direct interaction with the animals would allow them to get hurt or, god forbid, be abused, knowing that if the rodeo were shut down, Cody wouldn't exist?
Also, I read a comment you posted asking someone if the animals told them that the straps didnt hurt. Animals, like humans, have a means of communication--body language. Horses act funny if abused or hurt.
@YJMvdW All broncos will buck anyway. They aren't broken in or trained yet, so they'll buck. If you get on a 2 year old horse that has never been ridden before, it bucks just like that.
the use of flank straps and tail twisting doesnt hurn them. its alot like an itch. it just an annoyance for a few seconds. they dont use cattle prods anymore. cuz then the animals are actually mean. most rodeo animals are nice... the only reason bulls charge after bucking a cowboy off is cuz they are annoyed by it. cowboys get hurt alot more than the animals
Thanks for your comments, John. ...'flank straps and tail twisting are like an itch'? Have you considered that if the animals could talk to you, they just might have a different story to tell?! I don't doubt that most rodeo animals are nice...until they have a strap wrapped around their belly too tight; their tail scraped; necks jerked... or more. Check out the vid below...
This is the 2009 National High School Rodeo Finals in Farmington, NM and what's going on in this industry: vid on Youtube: /watch?v=TEq6gjE8JFo
This is but one instance of bulls and horses cruelly electroshocked in direct violation of the National High School Rodeo Association's own rules. This site has other videos:
The rules are worthless if they are not enforced. I have read that when they are enforced, the fines imposed on the cowboys are small and meaningless compared to the cash prizes they compete for.
I don't doubt that there are many cowboys and girls who love and care for animals, and that there are rodeos that enforce higher standards. For me, the more I read on this issue the more I've confirmed the answer for myself to my question posed in this vid: 'yes, rodeos are inhumane'...
Until things change, to each their own, John. I hope the tradition of rodeo will somehow evolve to an event that more people consider acceptable. I've attached a few other vids of horses to this vid. These sure feel a lot better to me. I won't be going to any more rodeos.
@LizBizToo "Inhumane" I'll tell what was "inhumane" was the slauter of Indians , america always get over it and move on! , but look at ya'll activitis helping haiti and people over sea's , and forgetting the first americans , ya'll , but the government helps indians, "Yeah right" if there was a group of enter city blacks kids need help everyone would throw everything their doing to help them , thats , because white america has too! and ya'll know it! and it will always be that way! NOW!
@LizBizToo a cowboys earnings in a year rarely hit $30,000 for the pro's. animals are alot tougher than a human. the flanks straps arent very tight. i've put them on myself. if you put one on a human it wouldnt hurt them either
most rodeo's are very humane. there are vets for the animals and docs for the cowboys and cowgirls on sight, animals VERY RARELY get hurt. i work at the cody night rodeo. these animals are not only expensive rodeo bred animals, but they are like our pets. they get treated alot better than most of the cowboys and people at the rodeo's.
i love ridng in rodeo and team roping and riding its so fun and humane mabey u tree huger should look at more then just the bad stuff that happens and get on the horse and fell the bond we love our horses and when one dies we are hurt very bad
I remember my first rodeo. It was the first time it had come to town, and they had those cheap bleachers with nothing on top of them. They had hidden all the good snacks and things behind another set of bleachers. The sun was in my eyes the whole time. Still, it was fun.
As far as being humane, it depends on your def. Some people think owning pets is inhumane. For the most part, rodeos are humane. Like anything else, you'll have a few who don't keep to the rules. Generally they will though.
I could ask you to do some of your own research, but that would be like asking a bull to crap on cue. Let me ask you this, how do you think your everyday cowboy does his work on his or her own ranch? It's not all that different.
I love how you use wikipedia as a source. Made me laugh so hard I can barely get up. You used a source that is fueled with false information. You know why its false? Because of people like you who think there morals are set in stone and are right when most of the time you just blowing smoke. You wana talk about animal abuse? What about the circus? I dont see any of you animal lovers complain as much as you do rodeo. And those animals are WILD!!!!!!
Your comment brought a chuckle...'those animals are WILD' you say?! You might find differently if you do some research.
LOL you're terribly quick to judge what my morals are and the status of them.
Had you thought to choose perhaps some empathy over aggression; or to give some rational input on the question at hand? To relax your drive for ego power, and think instead of inclusion, protection, and care?
Many posts as yours on Youtube; to my eyes this is more important than any issue @ whether rodeos are humane or not. Just how humane are we towards each other? It is my opinion this type of 'quick to judge' verbal attack you handed me is what holds back the human race from attaining a more peaceful state. IMO it's a human reaction that is too well-ingrained in this society and creates not only 'circus' drama, but divisions between people, and yes, wars: 'attack, attack...one way or another.
FYI, as is my usual mode of operandi when producing a video, while watching the images repeatedly during editing, thoughts come to me, i.e. the inserted question that instinctively emerged... 'can rodeos be humane?' I usually do not have much of a 'plan' for a video (including 'complaints'). I had hoped that in expressing the question that came to my mind, the viewers would give pause to reflect on just that, as I did after attending a rodeo for the first time in some 50 years...
rodeos are not inhumane! being from the rodeo capital CODY! we all know they are not in pain.. a lil uncofortable but not hurt! more cowboys are hurt then live stock. so if you dont like rodeos you shouldnt attend them.
Thx, girl, for your input. I guess one has to attend a rodeo first in order to determine whether or not 'attend' again! I hadn't been to one for 50+ years. Pain or just uncomfortable...regardless, I personally found some of it difficult to watch without winching for both animal and rider and as much as I love the animals and the pagentry, as you pointed out its my choice, and I doubt I'll return.
rodeos depend on animals reacting to pain or fear to put on a 'good show'.. rodeo will never be humane!.. it will always be the cause of animal abuse..
Well Yes Mama, I did start young but when the last three generation of your family have rode and won. You start When your really young and try to beat your Father's record. I'm sure one day my son will ride and make me and my wife proud. It just a family tradition. I'm proud to be a Pena because Pena's love to ride.
A tradition that no doubt brings your family closer together, Yammon. I appreciate your input, thank you; and I'm going to go back to your channel and watch 'Back in this Cigarette'!
Well I rode in the Cody rodeo the past 2 years and i can tell you from my point of view that the Cody rodeo is the best. They take such good care of the livestock. I can say that because i have rode in some rodeos where that don't take care of the animals like they should. I'm not proud of it and back when my father was riding bulls they treated the animals horrible but today the laws won't allow anything like that to happen.
Thanks for your input here. I did get the impression that the Cody rodeo was one of the best in its realm. I'm glad to hear from you. (For 2 years now you've been riding? You started so young!)
Thank you! You'll appreciate the surprise of the eve... cuz guess who was in town? Ringo Starr! What a treat! Last song: 'Give Peace A Chance'...YES!!! Good luck on WOW, ((Caylyn)) :)))
To answer your question, yes, I do think rodeos can be humane events. As you noted, the live stock is an investment. I have seen WAY more cowboys/cowgirls get hurt than I have seen animals get hurt. In my experiences, (so just my opinion), there is true love and compassion for the animals from the people that live and work around them. There can always be the "bad seed", though.
I LOVE rodeos, but I haven't been in a long time! Hmmmm...Maybe it's the cowboys that I love?? HA!
I guess it's like anything, it depends on what they are in it for. If it's for money, then there could be a big problem. If it's for the "skill", I think it takes it to a differnt level.
Knights, of course, but cowboys are cute...hahaha!
haa, what wild thoughts comin frum you today, S! You say you've had your turkish coffee?! (ala Queen?! Don't count on any o that disco music comin from ze bus, tho ;)
o live there the wind is bad all the time but our stapede rodeo is the #1 large outdoor rodeo in the world... but most animals dont get hurt and we take very good care of the animals here...
The wind was brisk! I've no doubt that Cody is #1 the largest in the world, or that the animals are taken good care of under their circumstances. Generally speaking, facts and questions about rodeos do remain, though.
Those black lines, you can get rid of by setting "preserve aspect ratio" to "No" (right-click on the film in Vegas,go to "video event/pan crop",see under "Source")
Of course, don't do that if you *want* to preserve the aspect ratio...
LOL well I have the antiquated Vegas 4! NO tiny square, but I have recently played with some o these settings: deinterlacing etc...but I just now found 'source' under properties, and unclicked the 'preserve aspect ratio'...phew! now wondering about unclicking the 'stretch to fill frame' button?! Also looking for a way to apply the above to the whole track or project, as otherwise I'll have to hit each clip on the track to 'unclick' that button...
I'll check ze manual and test that letterbox option, too...V.4 is a bit different.....sighhhh. Thx, S, I do appreciate; slightly exasperated here I was; and if I do the best that I can then it sounds like YT might be responsible for the rest! Now...if I could just get this wine bottle of zzzz's to stick on Newty's profile lol :D
Sadie, thats good news, thx! I bought a new laptop and it has far lesser screen quality than my old Dell (paid extra for it's quality).....so part of it could be ze new cheapy puter!
thx; I wondered bout that box setting; and I couldn't even find that p'reserve aspect...' anywhere lol
comments not posting well today; think I posted one to ya down below, too...off I am for ze 65 candles thingy :D
No disappointment, birthday girl, the pixelating can't take from the real quality that exudes from all of your vids. (like that for smoothery?)
I've never been to a rodeo so this is a real education. So too your thoughts via the Wikipedia info. Actually, the riders are the ones who need watching over by the Humane society. I see no cruelty to the horses at all.
No rodeos in Oz? I feel like it's a lot of things in life: it's the way we've always done things, etc...challenge is, in my opinion, to 'really' start listening to our hearts more...and acting on what we hear.

25mtcowboy 5 months ago
@25mtcowboy but these calves arent sick. This is very dangerous to the calves as it has a very high potential to break their legs or necks. You wouldn't risk killing a perfectly healthy calf over and over again now would you? And I am in no way trying to be disrespectful, just stating my point of view, as I don't live on a ranch, but I do do my research.

Rodeo will never be stopped because the people who try to stop it never really understand how these animals are treated. You can read all the stories and books you want. If you really want someone to take your opinon seriously (for it or against it) you need to visit the ranches and see how they are truly treated. It would be piontless to debate anything with you because you have no knowledge on the subject.
thebuckskin07 1 year ago
@thebuckskin07 ya your right i bet these people have never been on a ranch. and the only rodeo theve seen was one where a random accident happened.

LizBizToo 1 year ago
@LizBizToo You just did accuse rodeo people of being inhumane in this post? WHAT?
katiedog20 1 year ago
@katiedog20 Agreed; of course there is risk of accidents in any sport. In my opinion, I would not put rodeos in quite the same category as polo, etc.....!!!

inhumane was slautering Indians what do think about that! noboby wants to talk about that , but when Haiti needed help , everyone drop what they where doing " OH! we need to help as americans!" bullshit! you "wanna-be Hippies!" and thats what ya'll are! no agruement there! is there! Indian issue is sweap underneith rug , Ya'll "MiMic" what you don't understand! "Acitvits" made word , for "Wanna-Be" help first americans instead of niggers! Now! what! say somthing! the general will always FLY!
HogTusk09 1 year ago
@HogTusk09 It certainly was inhumane.. (I have Cherokee ancestry btw).. in my opinion to hold on to those feelings in your heart is not healthy for anyone; most of all, you. And noone knows what the future brings ('always be that way'?). Your word NOW served me as a reminder to live in that NOW moment. Not yesterday. Or tomorrow. This format might serve as a place for you to vent...but what are you doing right NOW to make a difference? Cursing at people online helps your tribe HOW?
LizBizToo 1 year ago
@HogTusk09 'If you're not part of the solution then you're a part of the problem.' An old quote. Nuff said. Do you realize you're wasting your time calling me a faggot, etc etc....and this is the kind of image you want to put forth for your tribe?
LizBizToo 1 year ago
I personally don't find this situation completely desturbing for me. Don't get me wrong I love horses! But this is only 8 seconds of work every event, which doesn't sound over exhausting. I don't know their living or transport conditions that could be more bothersome then the actual event. Just for the fact I don't know how their treated in that regaurd.. I am against calf roping or jerking though. That seems to be more like infliction of pain then what broncs deal with..
briwest11 1 year ago
@briwest11 Broncos are treated better than most people's kids are actually haha. A lot of them aren't even broken in yet, so they would do that sort of bucking anyway if someone gets on them, and transportation is handled the same way it is for every horse. Just load em in on a trailer. The horses are well fed though, and they only have to do 8 seconds of work... so it's not inhumane at all.
Alexandros1294 1 year ago
Also, I want to know if you witnessed the animals being abused? Did someone beat a cow up? Was there blood? Were the horses gaunt and starving?
JBeerline 1 year ago
@JBeerline All your comments are correct. I rode bareback Broncs when I was a teenager. It was probably more dangerous for me than the horse. The horses will let you know if the straps ropes are too tight.
All these, "Animal (More Rights than humans)" people need to get a reality check. I love horses more than anything else and did NOT go out of my way to hurt any of the horses I rode. I ask the Animal rights guy who put this thing up if he ever enjoyed a steak dinner or a nice bit of KFC?
BigOldScout 1 year ago
I have to tell you something. Most of what keeps Cody Wyoming alive is the rodeo. Do you really think that the people who have direct interaction with the animals would allow them to get hurt or, god forbid, be abused, knowing that if the rodeo were shut down, Cody wouldn't exist?
Also, I read a comment you posted asking someone if the animals told them that the straps didnt hurt. Animals, like humans, have a means of communication--body language. Horses act funny if abused or hurt.
JBeerline 1 year ago
@JBeerline dont you think that their bucking is a sign of being hurt???
YJMvdW 1 year ago
@YJMvdW All broncos will buck anyway. They aren't broken in or trained yet, so they'll buck. If you get on a 2 year old horse that has never been ridden before, it bucks just like that.

the use of flank straps and tail twisting doesnt hurn them. its alot like an itch. it just an annoyance for a few seconds. they dont use cattle prods anymore. cuz then the animals are actually mean. most rodeo animals are nice... the only reason bulls charge after bucking a cowboy off is cuz they are annoyed by it. cowboys get hurt alot more than the animals
Puddelz69 2 years ago
Thanks for your comments, John. ...'flank straps and tail twisting are like an itch'? Have you considered that if the animals could talk to you, they just might have a different story to tell?! I don't doubt that most rodeo animals are nice...until they have a strap wrapped around their belly too tight; their tail scraped; necks jerked... or more. Check out the vid below...

The rules are worthless if they are not enforced. I have read that when they are enforced, the fines imposed on the cowboys are small and meaningless compared to the cash prizes they compete for.

Until things change, to each their own, John. I hope the tradition of rodeo will somehow evolve to an event that more people consider acceptable. I've attached a few other vids of horses to this vid. These sure feel a lot better to me. I won't be going to any more rodeos.

@TheLilroper I don't doubt that you are hurt by that...I remember when my first horse died. I was @ 9 yrs old.
And btw you don't insult me by calling me a tree hugger lol
LizBizToo 2 years ago
I remember my first rodeo. It was the first time it had come to town, and they had those cheap bleachers with nothing on top of them. They had hidden all the good snacks and things behind another set of bleachers. The sun was in my eyes the whole time. Still, it was fun.
As far as being humane, it depends on your def. Some people think owning pets is inhumane. For the most part, rodeos are humane. Like anything else, you'll have a few who don't keep to the rules. Generally they will though.

And those animals are WILD!!!!!!
jstridin 2 years ago
Your comment brought a chuckle...'those animals are WILD' you say?! You might find differently if you do some research.
LOL you're terribly quick to judge what my morals are and the status of them.
Had you thought to choose perhaps some empathy over aggression; or to give some rational input on the question at hand? To relax your drive for ego power, and think instead of inclusion, protection, and care?
LizBizToo 2 years ago
Many posts as yours on Youtube; to my eyes this is more important than any issue @ whether rodeos are humane or not. Just how humane are we towards each other? It is my opinion this type of 'quick to judge' verbal attack you handed me is what holds back the human race from attaining a more peaceful state. IMO it's a human reaction that is too well-ingrained in this society and creates not only 'circus' drama, but divisions between people, and yes, wars: 'attack, attack...one way or another.
LizBizToo 2 years ago
Heh; I will, however, consider the fact that you posted your verbal attack a success on this end...*of sorts* :D
For all of you reading this lil thread: FYI:
LizBizToo 2 years ago
FYI, as is my usual mode of operandi when producing a video, while watching the images repeatedly during editing, thoughts come to me, i.e. the inserted question that instinctively emerged... 'can rodeos be humane?' I usually do not have much of a 'plan' for a video (including 'complaints'). I had hoped that in expressing the question that came to my mind, the viewers would give pause to reflect on just that, as I did after attending a rodeo for the first time in some 50 years...
LizBizToo 2 years ago
rodeos are not inhumane! being from the rodeo capital CODY! we all know they are not in pain.. a lil uncofortable but not hurt! more cowboys are hurt then live stock. so if you dont like rodeos you shouldnt attend them.
Wyocowgirl82414 2 years ago
Thx, girl, for your input. I guess one has to attend a rodeo first in order to determine whether or not 'attend' again! I hadn't been to one for 50+ years. Pain or just uncomfortable...regardless, I personally found some of it difficult to watch without winching for both animal and rider and as much as I love the animals and the pagentry, as you pointed out its my choice, and I doubt I'll return.
LizBizToo 2 years ago
rodeos depend on animals reacting to pain or fear to put on a 'good show'.. rodeo will never be humane!.. it will always be the cause of animal abuse..

hey there,
Well I rode in the Cody rodeo the past 2 years and i can tell you from my point of view that the Cody rodeo is the best. They take such good care of the livestock. I can say that because i have rode in some rodeos where that don't take care of the animals like they should. I'm not proud of it and back when my father was riding bulls they treated the animals horrible but today the laws won't allow anything like that to happen.
thanks,
CYP

To answer your question, yes, I do think rodeos can be humane events. As you noted, the live stock is an investment. I have seen WAY more cowboys/cowgirls get hurt than I have seen animals get hurt. In my experiences, (so just my opinion), there is true love and compassion for the animals from the people that live and work around them. There can always be the "bad seed", though.
I LOVE rodeos, but I haven't been in a long time! Hmmmm...Maybe it's the cowboys that I love?? HA!
GreatGig1 3 years ago
Oh I don't doubt their way of love for animals; actually, I was surprised to read there is a very low rate of animal injuries. I still have concerns.
Oh, it's like that ole female attraction to a man in uniform: rough/tough cowboys! LOL...you prefer cowboys...or knights? haha
LizBizToo 3 years ago
I guess it's like anything, it depends on what they are in it for. If it's for money, then there could be a big problem. If it's for the "skill", I think it takes it to a differnt level.
Knights, of course, but cowboys are cute...hahaha!

Those black lines, you can get rid of by setting "preserve aspect ratio" to "No" (right-click on the film in Vegas,go to "video event/pan crop",see under "Source")
Of course, don't do that if you *want* to preserve the aspect ratio...
citizenX9328g 3 years ago
Personally,I don't mind a slight distortion as opposed to black lines
There's also a setting "Do Not Letterbox" when you go to export/render the file
Never tried that - might have the same effect
citizenX9328g 3 years ago
LOL well I have the antiquated Vegas 4! NO tiny square, but I have recently played with some o these settings: deinterlacing etc...but I just now found 'source' under properties, and unclicked the 'preserve aspect ratio'...phew! now wondering about unclicking the 'stretch to fill frame' button?! Also looking for a way to apply the above to the whole track or project, as otherwise I'll have to hit each clip on the track to 'unclick' that button...

Well,it's in Vegas 7 - do you have that tiny square at the very end of the movie as it sits on the time line?
