  • MOTH SQUAD!!

  • Can i use a 12,5 m² Sail ?

  • @lolly166541 You could, but you wouldn't be able to race in Moth events. There would be very little point in using one as we start depowering the 8M sail in 10 knots!

  • @aardvarkissues Okey Thanks ;DHang Looooooose

  • Whats the upper weight limit for these?

I'm not looking to be a competitive racer, just want to fly... And i weigh just under 90KG

If any one could help it'd be useful, ive been given conflicting advice

    Cheers

  • @MrSchnik Just under 90 should be OK. You will just have to put up with foiling in more wind. On the plus side, once you are foiling you can go faster as you can power up more...

  • i've got one of those but i mainly use it for fishing.

  • @beanabeaner Good for you. Got any pics?

  • @aardvarkissues he has no pics cause hes full of shit n trolling. maybe thats what he means by fishing.

  • Funky beastie boys tunes replaced due to EMI having a hissy fit... :-(

  • do they only sail well on flat water? I sail on a bay where the chop can get over 3 feet

  • Absolutely stunning machines to watch, it just doesn't seem possible that someone could actually sail such a thing.

  • is it hard to start in moth sailing if you sailed i-13 and byte?

  • are they hard to start in ? coming from a i-14 and laser sailer?

  • Adam, as an ex 600 sailor thought long and hard, and.. I just bought one of these, over a 600FF. The 6 is overpowered upwind to give downhill grunt; most of the time on foils, most of the rig will just be drag, ditto that big hull. It's also probably under-developed, but is cheap.

Also windsurf and kite.. vs the windsurfers, it's all about efficiency, vs the 600, the same..

Well, that's my take anyway :)

  • Dare I say the unthinkable? :O

I think i prefer the 600FF, although havent sailed it yet. Im not such a fan of how sketchy the moth is when lowriding and then its clumsy to move around once foiling i find :S

plus i love the excuse to have a big ridiculus boat to trapeze on :D

  • @AdamK153, You can say it if you want! A foiling Moth is smoother in the air than a RS600 and maneuvers are easier. The Moth has also proven to be quicker around the course... Admittedly lowriding is harder than sailing a 600 but thats a small price to pay!

  • my friends just bought a moth (perhaps you know him and it, matt ponsford now with White knucle express) so i have to have one bigger and sillier :)

plus ive found that a 600 is sooooooooooooo much cheaper than a good moth. £8000 for most moths, only £2400 for a 600

  • You guys should try winsurfing, hold the mast in your hands really sail,I bet those moths cant handle to much wind out of control!!! Windsurfing more wind more control,it rules

  • It has to be over 25 knots for me to consider not going Mothing and going windsurfing instead. in 6 to 15 knots a fast Moth will leave windsurfers for dead...

  • They're called International Moths; there are many different designs; from older, heavier and larger non-foiling designs to newer , smaller and lighter fully foiling designs (in the video).

    Hope that helped Poseidon500

  • The lest expensive boat like this I could find was $11,000 U.S. : (

  • where do I buy one of those?

  • What is that type of boat called?

It's the first time I have eve seen one and I am interested.

  • there cool eh? im pretty sure they're called moths. they look effing hard to sail tho

  • Timing, balance, and be one with the craft.

I windsurf. you know, sailboarding. I dig it.

  • nice man :p looks to effin hard to windsurf :p i unno

but hell it does look fun

  • Hard to learn, impossible to forget.

    Like riding a bike.

It took me YEARS to learn how to operate a sailboard. Where I live, we only have three months of short summer, and only two in which the water is not VERY cold.

  • lmaoo amen :p

I live in southern ontario so i do most of my sailing in lake ontario. fucing cold most days.

and like you said. the sailing season just isnt big enough lol

  • somethin i always wondered when watching moths, how do you loose the kelp you catch?

  • You dont tend to catch much. Every now and again you have to stop and clear it but most of the time it just falls off...

  • Thanks!

  • are they using hydro-foils?

  • Yes, they are indeed

  • want that boat!

  • where to buy a boat like that?

  • Вот бы нам погонять на этом:)

  • Awsome, great skills !!

  • C'est clair !! J'en veut un !!

  • What is the name of the song?

  • body moving by beastie boys :D

  • those boats are so fricken fast

  • kako??

  • this boat is fucking awsome!

  • what model is the "gill" boat, is that a homebuild? or is that built by a factory? I like that it doesn't have the big goose nose bow going on.

  • Its a modified Mistress 3, hull built by Full Force and finished by Adam May (the owner)

  • Alladin boat...great video

  • Excellent post - thanks.

  • bodymoving, mmmmm me likes that tune!

"i'm so sweet like a nice bon bon"

yeah yeah the moths skills are pretty sweet too!

    xxx

  • wow
