Hats off to you brother. Masterful job on the rebirth of a legend like that. Was most of the work done in your garage? How long did this project take you? Hard to imagine you actually let it go after all that work. Would've kept that one as a family heirloom.
Great job regardless, can't wait to see your next build. Mad Respect.... E......SoCal.
Believe it or not I built it in a 6' x 16' enclosed trailer while my garage was being built. Outside in Ohio during the winter with an electric heater. I did all of the work except for the heads, and shooting the paint on the tank and frame. It was the first time for all, the biggest pain was relacing the back wheel, that took me hours, but well worth it. It was tough to part with, and regret it each day that passes.
You did it, fella. Every pinky ultra-terrennial hi-tech spatial pukin' Ness derivatives can now go peacefully to the next Blue Oyster Cult where they belong. This is THE bike, the real one itself. Congrats.
This may seem a stupid question.. But where would you go to find bikes to rebuild.. as it's been a dream of mine for almost 20 years, but shit always came up and kids, etc.. any suggestions?? I really want to do it myself so its mine and haven't a clue where to start. Stef
love this bike... awesome rebuild and love how u kept as many original parts as possible, i just recently finished rebuild similar to this check it out and let me know what u think, just search 1969 shovelhead chopper its the first one on the list....great build,
love your ol scoot, but why did you use billet for your forwards, and lisence plate? i got a 69 sporty just like yours. never even thought of billet. it takes away from the "ol scool" you went from a "10" to a "9.5" but thats just my opinion. gotta love that old thick ass chrome. they dont do it like that anymore, too bad
Gorgeous, it's so incredible, I've been wanting to find a nice oldie to fix up, but amazing. This video is getting faved, the whole story is documented, it's incredible, what an intricate and beautiful machine.
Great Job I love period correct scoots, and for those asking the first song is "In Time" by Mark Collie and the second is Nine Inch Nails "Hurt" covered by Johnny Cash
Thanks for the offer, its all together as shown here. In fact all together many tanks of gas and sold to a guy in MA for $14,500. Needless to say he was a very happy guy when he seen it in person. I do miss it now, cant find another one like it anywhere.
@etcommunications You surely will never brother. Most now are either in old mechanic / bikers heated garages or in museums for Harley Davidson. Its a shame, really that the world turned to a fast, cheap, buy, break, throw away world. These old bikes are truly real works of arts. congrats on the sick Panhead you restored.
nice job documenting the build. very nice work on the build brother. i have a 1953panhead,here on youtube, dragpipe1. i also did the mallory and 12 volt system. my motor wasnt as nice as youres though...keep them pans alive!!
THAT CHOP ROCKS ! nice job of restoring...I've seen a lot of old choppers from the 70 s and some are ugly or weird ,but this one was worth the effort ...has a nice rake and trail and no weird neck angle configuration ! The tank was a nice update still retro looking but (I think ) looks better than the coffin style ! ....and a SPRINGER ! GEEZ !hope you still got her and ride her.....dont store it in a barn for 30 yrs ! LOL .....Mike
I wouldnt think of anything else after building this panhead. Panheads are ceratinly faithfull, not to mention they look awesome. Thanks for the post and for viewing the bike.
i'm honest i hate blue but thats a great job ...mannnnnnn enjoy that beast
