  • Great film

  • This is one strange film but i still like it

  • This movie gave me nightmares when I was a kid. Scariest movie I have ever seen!

  • The storyline it's something you will not find anywhere else, period.

  • Seriously, if you are from an English-speaking country, listen to the French version :)

PS : I'm french and I prefer english version

  • Seriously, if you are from an English-speaking country, listen to the French version :)

  • I remember renting this at my library when I was 17. I loved how simple but elegant it was, if a tad freaky.

  • Amazing movie one of my best ever.......

  • this is one of my fav movies ever! great one! and with Matthieu Chedid's music :) I rather the french version of the song, but it still great.

  • i watched this when i was a kid, gotta check it out again !

  • When I first saw this trailer (which is right now) my brian yelled out MY YEARS WAS WASTED!

  • I wasn't able to finish it because it was so disturbing (triggered bad memories for me).

Reminds me of the animation, "Metropolis" though. The color and everything.

Nonetheless my incapability to watch this, I still could tell this is very original and genius.

  • anybody else reminded of professor layton here?

  • I can't believe I found this... after so many years.

All I remeber is seeing this trailer on one of my movies when I was around 6, and all I remembered were the dancing triplets, and the men on bicycles.

    Wow.

Even though I've never seen this, it brings back memories ^^...

I need to watch this now.

  • Just started watching this in Music class....and it's already giving me nightmares..

  • I got to see this movie back in grade seven..... true masterpiece.

  • O_o very werid

  • thats a bit creepy.

  • this is the scariest shit i have ever seen

  • it gave me night mares

  • what's the name of the 2nd song? in tthe Paris part of the movie

  • Une très belle leçon de vie...

  • Are those dogs nuts visible? LOL!

  • Tbf, this movie scares me a bit..the style and the movement and the looks...I got plenty scared in some ways.

  • I'm getting siiiiick!

  • Just watched the Illusionist... now I wanna watch this. Need cartoons (good ones) in my life again!

  • i saw this in french class last month

  • we watched this piece of art in school, instead of gym class, and just for the record; i'll never ride my again.

but seriously, i think it's a great movie that makes one rethink about the relationship to their mothers and really questions everything we see as "normal".

  • This is a really good underated masterpiece :)

  • Lol the bendy guy XD I haven't seen the film yet but I think I already know who's gonna be my fav character :)

  • Everyone should give this film a chance rather than say the preview made you feel sick/high/or weird. The film is FANTASTIC!

  • what the fuck?! i dont feel too well now...

  • I loved this film so much, just saw it the other day and i havnt laughed or been touched by an animation since UP!. The dog is amazing and so funny , the granny is cooky and lovable. And the triplets are NUTS.

  • Great movie...started watching it thinking it was gonna suck but I couldn't stop watching it. People should give it a chance.

  • @sleepycruz I totally agree with you. I bought the DVD, and haven't seen one person dislike it after watching the whole thing. THIS is true animation, and the story was very sweet.

  • Yey, this video made me high

  • Beautiful film

    One of my favourites <3

  • I love this movie whaaaaa, look at the quality of the art and animation and that twisted story :O amazing

  • whatever the hell this is, it scared the shit outta me

  • I watched this once when i was little, and now i never want to see it ever again. The cyclists being treated like animals... no... worse than that just upset me too much for me to bear. Their thighs like french rugby players freaks the shit out of me and the way they stare... *shivers*... Never again...

  • @MultiHornyGal it's not meant for children, that's why it scared you.

  • @IngridBerg So why does it still scare me now when i look at it? i was frozen solid...

  • This is the most heartwarming movie I've ever seen. Three old women with no money, and they have no problem with taking in a penniless woman and helping her find her grandson. And the ending is just wow.

  • @marelicainavokado i sorta felt that it ended on such an anti climact note, plus what did the boy mean by saying "its over grandma" right at the end?

  • @dthmon At the beginning of the movie, his grandma asked him if the movie was over and he didn't answer her. Now, some 60 years later, he still remembers her saying that and he answers as a sign of love, instead of saying "I'll never forget you". Made me cry ...

  • beautiful animation

  • I'm sorry for people who likes finding nemo, but why the hell this didn't win best animated feature in the academy awards?

  • @cuteharuna Because people don't like anything that's too radically different, no matter how amazing and radical it maybe. Look at the music industry for example.

  • Complete genius

  • @SMATProductions says the Transformers fan. Some people have no culture.

  • @SMATProductions

    go watch scooby doo

  • I had the DVD once, but now I can't find it in stores.

  • one of my favorite movies. i remember when i was a kid i was either 12 or 13 when i first saw this. i watch it like 12:00 in the night all alone while it was raining heavily outside. i cherish this movie and the memory ever since,,i was too young to care about the name of the film but love it so much. it took me 8 years later to find this film again, now that i'm 20. i'm so happy i get to see it again and relive the moment.

  • Look like characters from Professorial Layton

  • @jawadkho mostly the gramma!!!

  • I dont get it.... whats this movie bout?

  • @azngirl122295 Pretty simple premise for such bizarre, unique, abstract animation. Basically, in a nutshell there's a boy called Champion who's raised by a woman called Madame Souza in France. She trains him to race in and hopefully win the Tour De France bicycle race. But Champion is kidnapped by the French Mafia and taken across the channel with several other cyclists to Belleville, to compete in illegal, betted upon races. Madame Souza and her dog Bruno follow Champion to rescue him.

  • @Kaagh178 It wasn't directed at me, but thanks for the synopsis, it really makes me want to watch it now.

  • @DetonationImminent That's alright. Happy to be of help. :)

  • @azngirl122295 As for the three old women, they used to be music hall singers. They're the triplets of Belleville mentioned in the title. They admit Madame Souza to their group and help her find Champion.

  • Watched till frog soup chapter then teacher turned off watched the rest to day im year 7 ralph allen , names megan baker but this is fucking scary

  • ...I've been looking for this EVERYWHERE :O

  • Guess I know where the Layton games got their art style from now.

  • Bizarre, yet amazing movie.

  • What the piss?

  • Press 2 for shake your tail feather

  • boję się :<

  • Love thisss movieeeeeeeeeeeee!!

  • I remember watching this in college and thinking, this is awesome, but still...what the fuck???

  • The waiter is amazing lol

  • This looks very...odd.

  • It's amazing. Watch it. So much better than Disney, or anime, or anything! Beautiful.

  • Press 5 For LOL Moment

  • I LOVED this when I was little!!

  • holy shit. i remember watching this movie on starz, but i never knew what it was called.

  • what is this movie even about

  • @flight3k Baisically an aspiring biker and his grandma end up in america and they meet some weird ass performers... also there is some gangsters involved

  • Watched this when I was a kid and ever since it's been one of my all time favourites. It's amazing. Watch it.

  • have watched this and it is sooooo weird!!!!! very vulgar and everything in it looks like my dreams! meaning proportions and stuff! flip........

  • i watched this and it is soooooo weird, and so vulgar!!!!! weird, but cleverly made, everything in it looked like my dreams! meaning the proportions and everything! flip......

  • I watched this years ago when i was very sick with pneumonia. It was hilarious and creepy beyond words

  • i hate to say it but this trailer spoils a lot of the film. lol

  • this is my favorite movie X3 its so bizarre lmao

  • A masterpiece!

  • yes!!! i love this movie! i used to watch it with my cousins in cape cod in our uber old house that my great aunt owns :) ohh this brings back memories, which is weird to say seeing how i'm only 13

    ;)

  • -Hides behind chair- What the FUCK is that?!

  • French cartoons are the most fucking wacky ones. Remember how back in the day, in America there were Cow & Chicken, 2 Stupid Dogs, Dexter's Laboratory, and all they do now is crap? Well, I suggest watching something like Oggy & The Cockroaches. French cartoons at their finest

  • @PanekPL Your sentence is so grammatically incorrect. The biggest mistake was using "and" instead of "but," your basically saying all THOSE shows are crap. How ironic that people agree with you, because I found Cow and Chicken to be a great show.

  • @PanekPL This is good too. I think the message in the film is not to gudge by looks or something.

  • @PanekPL Sorry I wasn't intending to send that message to you XD I sent it to you by accident :)

  • is there a story in this film or a act or is it just a music film

  • @jachub123 try watching it. :)

  • I will sum up all previous and future comments in one quote.

    What. The. Fuck.

  • MASTERPIECE!!!!

  • Did Caravan Palace do the soundtrack?

Also, is it possible to have a new favourite filmmaker without having seen a single one of their films? I just watched the trailer and the trailer for 'The Illusionist". I am completely sold.

  • @bookishdandy the soundtrack was done by Benoît Charest. It's brilliant.

  • I saw this film a few years ago, very good.... but isn't it called 'Belleville Rendez-vous'?

  • @vl4ndo nah,its belleville's triplets

  • @vl4ndo I think that's the original french name, yeah.

  • @BokuWaKiraJenai Yes, that's the original French name :)

  • So incredibly disturbing, yet so amazing. Right up there with Ghibli.

  • @TheComingApocalypse ,chhecked it,and yeah its belleville rendez vous in english

  • one of the most disturbing movies i have ever seen

  • this scares the shit out of me

  • @ShatterFear its an art house film sometimes there fun to watch and sometimes they arew just dissturbing this is fun to watch

  • love love love this movie

  • kinda disturbing. like the baba or whats her name from from that Miazaki film Spirited Away. it has that same candid unflinching detailed flatness.

  • i swear this is disturbing :{

  • dos palabras: OBRA MAESTRA. y de las gordas

  • lol destery from des+nate brought me here <3

  • I haven't seen such an imaginative animated film like this since Disney's Fantasia, except this film is a lot more insane ( I mean that in a good way) and Fantasia is more creative with it's gags/ visuals/ metaphors, yet more subtle (I mean that in a good way too). Both great and inventive cartoons.

  • I love this cartoon, dude, it's so awesome!

  • Does anyone knows where i can watch it? i can't rent this movie is not in my country.

  • @Ximetama

You can see this movie in 5 parts on Youtube :)

Look for ''Les Triplettes de Belleville 1/5'' and the rest of it will follow ;)

  • When I was a little kid, I hated this movie with a passion, but I saw it in blockbuster the other day, picked it up, and I've since watched it 4 times in a row

  • @Mccampbellthomas Yes well, it's not really for kids. Glad to hear you gave it another chance though, clearly deserves it.

  • Most visually and story driven movie ever made! Love the songs as well, great work .

  • Ce film n'est pas mauvais du tout, graphiquement, déjà, il est excellent, seulement, l'atmosphère qui s'en dégage est assez désagréable, je pense que c'est voulu. Il est intéressant.

  • I hate this cartoon. The only good thing is the doggy <3

  • Bruno steals the show!

  • anyone know the song in this trailer? (i haven't watched the movie yet but it looks so good and i love the promotional song here) sorry if it is obvious/already been said.

  • @cellardream @cellardream Hi, it's from "M" (Matthieu Chedid), and the title is "Belleville rendez-vous". ;)

This song was made for the movie, M is really a french talented composer.

    youtube.com/watch?v=E3Q7JO6BDa0

  • Bruno is the star of this movie.

  • the french art style is so weird yet easily recognizable

  • it's a good movie but it's rather scary... but still good :)

  • Kinda sucks the way they think of Americas. Oh well. No fault but our own. :)

  • @Agentseaturtle The movie satirized Canada and Europe (mostly France) and not just the United States. The movie critisized society as a whole and not just one place in particular.

  • It's so fucking cool... It makes me happy.

  • one of the most artistic animated films created. so meaningful and its impossible not to be hooked to this movie

  • does anyone knows where i can find this on the internet?

i need to watch this piece of art <3 seems amazing!

  • I just find this very uncomfortable and creepy :S

  • @natlkarom Thats how I feel about it too.

I feel all funny after I watch the trailer , we got forced to watch it in french class and I got nightmares !

  • @charlottehoops If you aren't used to black comedy it can feel quite nightmarish. I personally enjoyed the film, it's really funny if you know what is supposed to be funny and what isn't. (For instance, the opening scenes with the topless dancer and the tap-dancer are supposed to be funny.)

  • @charlottehoops They had you watch this in school? If you happen to live in North America that gives me a lot of hope for the future.

  • Is there such thing as a bad French film? (That's rhetorical unless you want to agree)

  • Argh, more opinion wars in the comments. >_< I haven't see this, but I want to. It looks very good. I found it through the Secret of Kells, and I love that, so I hope this will be equally awesome. I have no doubts about that.

  • so

    bad

  • I remember watching this with my family back when I was in Kindergarden. 0_o I do remember some of it, but it's been quite a while now.

  • If you don't like the movie or the trailer then don't comment here, simple as that

you will waste a lot of time writting the reason of why you don't like it and to be honest, nobody gives a crap about you

for me I found it interesting so i'll watch it

  • @nanii1313 and you think someone gives a crap about you? oO

  • LAYTON!!!!!

  • @mentalpatient89 stop feeding the troll

  • Comment removed

  • @Kankurofa Have you seen the whole film? I gotta say, I love Miyazaki to death, but I don't think there's only room for one good type of animation in the world. The animation really is very clever, and the story really is fresh, heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. If you haven't seen it before, you might want to rent a copy some time. It didn't win a ton of awards for nothing :)

  • @Kankurofa anime is for gay nerds

  • @THEMARC141183 anime is for nerds. Fixed that for you. 'Gay' is not a synonym for 'stupid'. Be respectful.

  • @THEMARC141183

yes... if a person doesn't know how to act around other people and likes their same gender... i guess they automatically like animation from japan. am i correct?

  • America needs to have better access to International Animated Films! Short or full length! Thank God I live in Austin! <3

  • can anyone recommand me good russian and canadian animated films? This movie looks interesting I actually have it but i havent seen it yet.

  • too bad the illusionist looks so much worse than this

  • Insane...

    I love it.

  • I like this style. It reminds of Hayo Miazaki as in it's actually super creative. It's like a warped, twisted version of his style almost. I approve!!! xD

  • This movie is amazing. I love French animation.

  • Weird how all the really awesome animated movies seem to come from outside the U.S...

  • @ThatWeirdChick2010 Hope that's sarcasm. I don't find it weird at ALL. Check out Russian or Canadian animation. That'll blow your mind.

  • @ExplodingCarebear It is lol. Plus, I meant it in a good way.

  • The waiter in the restaurant is so funny

  • haha i saw this when i was eight years old and until then i'd been a total disney consumer, this movie blew my fucking mind :)
