  • i want this bike back in the day but really i think ninja 650r or sv650 is a better value fz6 is a great value its got 100hp detuned r6 engine

  • Amazing craftsmanship! I need that an then some for my 1990 ninja 500 :P

  • deserves more views. i know a few people who could learn from just how well you mod. I know I picked up a few trick, mainly the nylon bolt trick

  • Im going to assume youre an engineer of some sort lol. I'm curious how well that works driving at speed with vibration? Thats an awesome and uncommon mod though either way.

  • cool mods man!

  • Nice vid, just did something similar but integrated the monitor into the mirror:

Should be able to view on my channel

    Chris

  • this video was aweome.. you do a great job explaining stuff and the mods look great. keep up the good work

  • i liked the rear camera idea.

  • Just in case there is an Asian guy jumping on one foot behind you as you ride down the street?

  • @Nimbly

Hey - you never know. LOL. Thanks for watching.

  • what type of camera system is that

  • is it possible to run your integrated mirror lights with your stock lights or is it too much load on your alternator/battery? I just thought it would be nice to have both lights for more visibility.

  • I have seen several of your videos and I wanted you to know how much I appreciate being able to log on and learn so much regarding mods to my bike.

You do a great job, not only with the engineering aspects of your work but your video and production skills are very impressive.

I just wanted you to know that I am grateful for your time and energy invested in these videos.

  • @ndcress

Much thanks! I hope to make more in the future .. just bombed with work at the moment. Next I want to do a review of Perelli Sports Demon Tires. Check back from time to time !

  • cool idea, like having a rear view mirror, except it's like reversed, bikes are such a pain to work on, I havent even had the front faring off my 500 yet.. coolest thing i ever did was hack up a set of cheap computer speakers and mount them in my helmet for an Ipod player. but since I bought a new helmet this time I bought a set of helmet speakers and a 3.5 mm amp. I'd like to see you do that Merlyn, you would probably find a much better way to do it than me,

  • I'll probably buy the cam but is the monitor able to detach from the stand?

  • way cool bro! way cool...

  • Very clean install (rear view). Looking into doing this on my CBR 600 F4.

  • where'd do u get that cowl for the seat ... ?

  • @knesia15

Its not a cowl .. its a seat cover .. please check out my video on that - its in my list of videos.

  • Glad i stumbled across your vids. Thanks man!

  • i thought u already changed the mirrors in ur other vid

  • Nice work. Just got what looks to be the same system (off ebay) for my 06 GSXR1000 but Im gonna do a different camera than the one that came with it.

  • Excellent work as usual Merlyn, very neat. Great teaching video, your bike is very tastefully done.

  • @Inshan417

    Thanks! Appreciated.

  • What mirror would fit my 2009 ninja 250?

  • Depends .. is it the new 250? Or the older one? The ones for the 500R fit the new 250R. I don't know of many options for the older 250.

  • awsome. i have always wondered about this sort of mod. but wont it kill your battery?

  • Nope .. it doesn't use a lot of juice to power a small screen. And its only on when the bike it on.

    Thanks for watching!!

  • Great job, you should do a recording some how of how the camera and lcd screen looks while riding so see it's effectiveness, I'm about to do this so let me know, but if you had to do it again would you? What pixles is that screen and can you see better now? Reason I ask is becuase I bought some Targa mirrors, while they look great I can't see a thing except my handlebars so let me know thanks.

  • I got mine off ebay .. its a 3.5" or a 4.5" - just one thing .. use shielded wiring. It works a lot better.

And as far as effectiveness, it works great. I'll get a video up if the weather is nice (can't promise because I'm traveling a lot these few weeks).

  • wow man you are a very smart and skilled individual... cool bike by the way :)

  • holy shit! that's awesome! Dude you're amazing! How do you figure all this stuff out? I want you to teach me how! Maybe when I get a motorcycle (I'm 15 now) then I'll do something similar. Mabe with both a gps and a rear view, camera, who knows. That is totally awesome, though.

  • Yes..... A table clamp. You scared the shit out of me before whenever you used power tools. Like when you notched the rear slider while holding it with your hand. Table clamp much better idea.

  • Haha - Yeahhhhh .. I do some dumb stuff sometimes. Guilty as charged.

  • bad place to install the screen. will easily get stolen.

  • The screen can be easily detached - that's why I used thumb screws. Thanks for watching.

  • Great Set Up...Keep up the great work.

  • What brand are the mirrors and where can they be purchased ? I have 07 Ninja zx10-r, stock signal setup not very visable, especially with flush mount kit, so i think the mirror would be perfect...Nice job man...

  • i want to do the same but for a gps screen.

  • So long as it has a AV output, this should work. I did it so I can connect anything to it (with an Standard AV connector).

  • pure greatness. keep these going.

  • Also since you have the same ex250 as i do, would you know if your ex 500 top fairings will come close to fitting the ex 250???

  • Sorry - I don't think it will work .. the size is way off.

  • All of your work is great, i mean great!!! I am doing the integrated mirror mod to my ex 250 (will make it fit, i hope) but already have the Asian cycle flush mount signals and rear fender kit with integrated rear signals, but wish there was another way to mount the video screen instead of drilling through the wind screen... anyway looks amazing as always ! The absolute nicest 500 i have seen... especially with the rear cam now !!! Great Work !!!

  • just curious why u didn't just use some $5mirror block offs considering you now have a rear camera

  • Mirrors work as turn signals.

  • AweSome. Ur ex is the best

  • Nice Job as usual

  • Pro quality vid!!! What cam system is that?!!? Didn't see that info... sorry if I over looked it!!!

  • I got the cam off eBay (seller = grace_starlight). She's from China .. but decent seller.

I got the mirrors of eBay (seller = i5motorcycle). I think there are a couple of sellers selling these.

It ran me about $100 including shipping for the cam and the monitor. I highly recommend swapping out the AV wire. A shielded wire is better. That runs about $15 - $20.

  • i got a mirror like that on my bike but i went with the matte black over the gloss black.

  • awsome mirror, bikes looking goood!

  • First View and first comment, but great vid nice mirror and bike :D 5/5
