  • What a horrible video. I feel embarrased. You know, you can't say it's not discriminating because you didn't design it. Sure, we understand the technical limitation but why is the limitation there to begin with? HP should have designed their software better, which they didn't. Bottom line; It's not designed to work with darker skintones. That sounds pretty racist to me.

  • cameras cant be racist because its not an race!

  • so black people have to use enough light to make them look white... yea that needs to be fixed

  • Black people carry a flash light when you use this software.....Damn shame!

  • that black dude was like fuck this cracka and his racist laptop

  • its time to have a dictintion with black people

  • if yud like to see mor hp webcamra reviews come my channel, it's quality

  • This is funny!! :D

  • The new black version have built in flashlights and comes with a pair of sunglasses.

  • @mandmedlem LMAO.

  • Mr Dean, you just won the price, by proving the point of the video you're responding to! Hahaha, nice job. The original video was sweet and hilarious, yours is just funny and unnecessarly politically correct.

  • JUST ADMIT ITS RACIST ....... the whole point of the usage is that the condition of the used product must match the same to all consumers using it..... in other words this thing needs more power juice to be used on darker skinned people. racist in other words.

  • ....No-one really thought the computer was literally racist.

  • stop bloody swaying i cant focus on what ur saying and am to busy trying to guess where u will sway next!

  • Consumer Products.

    Your video fails hard.

  • Everything is racist!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yet it's still fucking racist!

  • come on people...these comments are ridiculous. black don't think there is still racism present, we know there is still racism present to this day. so black people are not crazy nor paranoid. if your not black you would never understand, so stop trying!!!! not all white people are racist, but if it were still trendy as it was 30 years ago, the cover would be pulled back and peoples true faces will be reviled. the US is moving forward but it would be insulting to say it gone.

  • hahahaha FAIL

  • lol this is just wrong and for 720p the video quality is pretty bad

  • man i have lenovo and they track black people you guys are plain racist and suck thumbs this up

  • world doesnt run around black people...who build the modern society? those build it mostly for them self's...also for others but gees...those others are acting like they did it

  • The police camera tracking system works only on blacks. No Racist ;P

  • @makkan314 BWAHAHAHAHHA. Im black and that is some funny shit, dude. Good one. LMFAO.

  • Ummm nope still racist

  • this channel seem to me like they cover up all the corporate fuck ups.

do you people get money from this?

  • HP is ecouraging black people to light up their face. That is racist

  • So... In other words it's racist? Ok. Lol

  • well duh, it's not like the original vid claims they made it racist on purpose and went out of their way to do so... it's just that it was designed with white faces as the target subject... no doubt.

  • light is racist!

  • i'm goin to buy a torchlight

  • Not racist, its the light

  • Not racist at all. Those who are racist are those who bring up the topic.

It's simply PHYSICS and the behavior of light and the sensors and circuitry involved.

  • ok so, still, it doesnt like dark light, only light light. so basically it is still racist. like if you agree!

  • In the other video, I really didn't see them changing lights. Lights stayed the same, even the webcam had trouble finding the darker skinned man in THIS video. -_-

  • @hockeystar78 dude, the lights didn't change in the other video, the pigment did.

  • this maybe a lifeline excuse 4 hp but i dont buy it of course if u put more light on dark skin it will become lighter folks have been using the light excuse 4 years. what about the testing peroid before they where released surely they couldve got a dark man to help test then they could have fixed the problem but nooo they where to worried he would pinch it

  • lmao

  • Well? less light no tracking more light tracking works

  • so in order for your computer to follow someone of darker skin your room better have search lights installed?

  • 1:00 Epic Fail XD

  • Logitech has a motion-tracking webcam called the "QuickCam Orbit" they've been making them longer than Hewlett-Packard

  • that computer has dog eyes

  • I think I'd break the screen with my sheer pale whiteness!

  • too funny.....

  • Fail!

  • youre just basically proving their point without the racism

  • mother fucking hp webcams ya niggaz need a ceo

  • @steven25124 ????wtf?

  • Dumbass.

  • At least when he gets close the light brightens so we cAn see him

  • It's okay you can say black people you don't have to say "darker skin tone". We won't be offended! It basically what your saying is that it was made for white people so the manufactures are racist!

  • @Kay1153 It's always better to be safe because there are plenty of people that will play the race card for financial purposes.

  • Fact: Poor science is racist.

  • WTF? Who thinks there is a built-in discrimination? Lol!!

  • Add some IR lights, problem solved?

  • Computers can't be racist. Done.

  • the black dude looks pissed with the computer

  • i knew it!!!!

  • the skin tone makes it seem like theres no light coming off of it so the computer has hard time figuring out where the face is dynamic sensitivity should fix the problem

  • So basically black people have to have all the lights in the house on in order to use this. How racist.

  • @ZeroCashProductions fuck off

  • @ZeroCashProductions HELL YEH IT IS

  • @ZeroCashProductions your you know it could just be the fucking tech you know physics light reflections and such. not everything has to be raciest

  • so....black people have to shine a flashlight in their face to use motion trackers!?!

  • @applejax89 sorry this made me laugh even more.

  • @applejax89 hahahahahahahahahahahhahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Not even ONE black man (to test on) in the HP company ???

  • No one ever claimed that HP somehow maliciously programmed their cameras to ignore faces of colour, that's insane, the point is that a camera which can easily distinguish white-skinned faces in various lighting conditions, but cannot distinguish faces of colour unless carefully lit was considered well-designed enough to be marketed and produced. It does the _important_ job of working for white-skinned customers, and being useful or accessible to people of colour was not considered necessary.

  • "its not a built in discrimination"

  • Nah cut the bullshit, HP computers are just straight racist. Nuff' said

  • lol anyone else see the white guyy in the back moving his head at 1:37

  • nice video smart guy

  • he said SIMLIAR...NOT the SAME! (sorry if I had any spelling mistakes)

  • wow. thats crazy

  • it still wasn't working lol

  • So it's racist until you can afford to shine spotlights on your darker family and friends faces...blinding them!

  • @nonohino I love it!!!!! ur comment cracked my shit up! HPs not racist, just stupid! lolololololol!!!!!

  • how is it racist? It can't capture their face due to their skin tone. I am sure HP didn't try to make it like that.

  • @leafblower-your right, HP is not racist. The problem is the camera on the Laptop (its too small) When a subject is light they bounce light into the lens / when the subject is dark they absorb the light -then the camera has to take in more light on its own to see the subject. Thats how cameras are, they don't see things like the human eye does...

  • lol!!! this amuses. i would assume that the software had those limitations because it was tested by darker skinned individuals. Just means HP should probably put more black people in the QA department

  • Only a complete idiot would think that the original video in question actually claims that the HP has a "built-in discrimination." That phrase was used in this video about 5 times. Learn what humor is. Please.

  • When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was Dr.Phil lol

  • ysosrs...

These people need to get a joke, lol.

  • fail @1:06 lol

  • course its not racist. its a computer it and it doesnt have feeling. it just cant recognize black people as well because they are darker and the camera cant pick up on darker images well. plain and simple

  • babu and mani were telented software engineers from india silicon valley gave them JOBS and when the market crash they showed him the GATES....just love IT industry

  • @AnElmandAnOak LMFAO!!!!

  • i love how these guys felt the need to prove an inanimate object isn't racist LMAO XD

  • omg, why are people so sad?!? it doesnt mean the camera is racist, it just means the technology sucks right now!its sad how the stupidest, most insignificant things offend other races.caucasion people dont gel offended but things like 'white board' or 'white chocolate'.. its pathetic. people should stop taking everything with the word black in it and saying its racist. sheesh!!

  • @Erulastielworrior if you watch the video that sparked this the people were kind of joking... why are you so serious?

  • @AKAkjwashere Amen! lol

  • i love how it dosent work at first and they're like 'uhmmmm..."

  • so what your saying is that science is racist

  • THIS IS A FAKE IT IS PROVED THAT FACETRACKING IS RACIST.

  • wow you guys are idiots

  • He doesn't explain it well in this video, but there is a physical reason why darker skin tones are harder to track than lighter ones. Whether you like it or not, the way light waves work, they aren't going to reflect nearly as well from a darker surface as a lighter one. You can test this yourself with a light meter. I tried this with a black friend of mine a few years back, and the difference in the amount of light we each reflected was staggering. It's not racism, it's science.

  • @gizmo19401 very good.. exactly what it is.. its all about light, not race. lol

  • @gizmo19401 but is funny

  • @gizmo19401 Thank you sir, for renewing my hope that the internet will one day not be full of dumbasses.

  • @gizmo19401 ... so science is racist?

  • @OrderOfGamers Quote "It's not racism, it's science"

    Think that one through bud

  • @gizmo19401 That is true, but it is interesting that the companies apparently did not bother to test their product with any black people - if they had, presumably even if the problem could not have been solved, they could have mentioned the issue in the instructions: "Warning: Consumers with darker skin tones may experience impaired functionality in low-light settings." I would not call this failure 'racist', but 'Eurocentric' would be fair, IMHO.

  • @gizmo19401 Science is racist then.

  • No, there is no built in racism in the camera. Just that the HP team that designed this just forgot to test the camera with black people on low light.! Because who would have thought a Black person was going to use this camera?! Cameras are not racist but when design teams are not diverse it is easy to forget there are [many!] others that are not white or not male. BTW. Why the hell was Consumer Reports trying to defend this obvious oversight by HP. It may not have been on purpose but still.

  • lol black people call everything that doesnt go exactly the way they want it to racist haha its a joke now. hey this can of pop isnt cold, thats it mtdew must be racist.

  • I'm SO glad computers aren't racist!

  • yeh i dont think that video was ment to be as taken seriously as you took it.

  • this guy acts so afraid to say something remotely politically incorrect.

  • @eldewen yup. He should've just accepted its racist but it ain't their fault. Its a physical limitation. There's an entire field dedicated to just lighting in movie making for this exact reason.

  • I figured it would go by the person's eyes, which if you had darker skin would make more of a contrast and work better, maybe not.

  • he does realize they were joking and didnt really think a computer was racist right?

  • YOU FAIL

  • so light has to be in your face? well make it follow your eyes not ur face stupid asses.

  • GIVE ME LIGHT!!!

  • Michael Jackson would have confused the shit out of this computer.

  • ehhhh....it's not racist. It's Physics!

  • Hp are the shittest computers and laptops. And worst company to try and contact to get something of them.

  • @Jai5242 eh....you think that because the fact that light doesn't refract off of african americans as much as it does caulcasians.....hp is most definitely good in terms of performance and moneys' worth....wow

  • LMAO so it works when you make a black person white!

  • so your tellin us, the camera would pick up a darker colored person, yet you had to make him shades lighter to indicate that he even was there. If the thing cant see you even though you aparently there, then... well u do the math.

  • okay!so it is really a fail!! im not buying any hp anymore! -_-

  • FAIL

  • lool

  • Guys i guess the colorless dude was just rotating and zooming cam manually after first failure.. that's why the colorful dude was laughing so much)))) also i know the solution to all the racists in the world. but this is a secret..(if you want the race you don't like to disappear you have to spend more time with them, to become their friend, may be to even marry one of them and race will disappear )))))

  • :46 he looks so happy

  • lol NO SHIT SHERLOCK, of course its not a "discrimination" built into the system, it's all apart of the joke. FFS.

  • demostration....FAILED.

Point is that... both colors should be followed by the camera using the SAME light.

  • He sucked every bit of humour out of the original video. Damn typical unfunny white people.

  • So you agree you have to make the subject lighter. You proving the hypothesis correct.

  • lol, this is even funnier than the other video.

  • he's trying to be soo politically correct it's a fail.

  • @AnElmandAnOak and hes black...

  • OMG, you're just proving their point!

  • @shuttledik I don't know if @consumerreports realizes their "rebuttal" proved the racist point. While folks who post videos regarding HP & Apple being "racist" are stating it figuratively because of the way the product functions, or its lack of function with specific people; not that HP & Apple are ACTUALLY racist.

This video proves the point by having the cam work as advertised under normal lighting conditions;when a black man entered a light wasn’t needed generally, it needed to be in front.

  • The webcam would freak out if Michael Jackson's dead body was watching.

  • HP should include a neck mounted flashlight to light up the faces of black people.

  • @oppinoy lol thats the dumbest thing ever lol!!! would be funny

  • wkwkwkwkwkwkwk

  • This is because objects with color absorb light and objects of non color reflect light. People with color to there skin absorb the light in there environment and people of non color to there skin reflect light in there environment and this camera is very sensitive to light, it needs plenty of light to recognize the face.

  • i think they should shave there head in order to work,.. for light to reflect lol

  • So to use it you can either be a white guy or be a black guy with a spotlight directly in his face?

  • btw it didnt even work...

  • its fine; black people just need to shine a torch on their face everytime

  • LOL The black guy started laughing when it still didn't work in the "better" lighting.

    around 1:10.

  • dude he wasnt serious when he said HP is racist you retard

  • consumer reports are racist. lol

  • 1:10 just fail really....

  • FAIL FAIL FAIL

  • It was a joke.. OMG did HP pay you for this because I can't believe you guys are this dense....

  • Ok Consumer Reports, you guys obviously need to get out more often. The original video was all done is good fun. No one was making a serious claim. The guy never says anything negative about HP nor does he say it has "discrimination built into the system".

  • I love it how hard you try to keep your language non-racist :)

  • it's not the lighting fault.. it won't happen to fair skin pple on low light.. This shows that the creater did not consider about the dark skin people. I'm sure the person who create this technology is a fair skin person.. Sorry.. I have to thumbs down your video.. I am a fair skin person but i do not support technology that is bias.

  • BLACK PEOPLE ARE NOT LIGHT

  • It was racist for a bit.

  • Wow . . . can't believe this video was made.

  • "when the skin is not particularly light tone" - this is the most politically correct definition of a black person I've ever heard. Is it really imposible to say "black person" in the USA or is this guy just a complete idiot?

  • @cojedoma hahahahahhahahha

  • @cojedoma

Black people aren't the only people with dark skin tones, that's why he said that since a computer doesn't know who is black or who is not just by the skin tone. Who's the idiot now?

  • "when the skin is not particularly light tone" - this is the most politically correct definition of a black person I've ever heard. Is it really imposible to say "black person" in the USA or is this guy just a complete asshole?

  • Yea it DON'T fucking work 4 Blacks WOW Fuck HP

  • Hey genius, who works on a computer with a light shining directly on their face? I think they're confusing office conferencing with tell scary campfire stories.

  • lol. apparently like 20 industrial lights dont provide "very good lightning conditions" 0:44

  • Lol if you think a camera can be racist, you might as well put your fingers in a paper shredder.

  • lol.. black people to black.. xP

didn't HP learn from reversing the colour? - That way, they can track white objects, and for 'white people' they can track blue objects..! :D

  • Yea basically you have to be white lmfao

  • This proves HP is racist. Its made to give darker skinned people a tough time.

  • Lol he called the black guy an object.

  • @SpartanCXVII subject i think

  • @SpartanCXVII how classic is that !

  • All I heard was "If you add a light, my friend's skin gets whiter, and now we can track him."

  • yea...like we really needed to know their names

  • Paint all blacks on white color this is a solution.

  • "obviously the system is very sensitive to the amount of light on the face"... ON BLACK PEOPLE. The lighting didn't matter for the white dude! This video just proves that the computer is indeed "racist", lol.

  • LOL the more light u put on him the whiter he looks

  • Like in siad in the original video

The reason is b/c he is so black, Black is a dark color, white reflects a lot of light witch the computer can esily detect, computers are incapible of racism, same as emotion

It's not rocket science pplz it's as simple as blacks r too dark to detect nothing more nothin less

  • i was going to buy one today i tried it out and it idn't work. so i went home started doing research and i found this video. Now i'm not gonna buy one at all i'm going with Dell IM5030

  • Dude don't get a dell!

  • so if your black you got to mess with the lights remember dudes if your white turn the lights high if you wanna rob the joint if your black turn them low lol and ill pm you my address my idea i want half the takings

  • @babycat967 LOL!!!

  • 1:16 holy shit where did that guy come from O_o
