You do realize that they had a series that ran for 2 seasons and was canceled, right?
You really can't tuck everything happening in the books into movies, that just wouldn't work. It's just a shame that they screwed up so badly with the TV show, because I believe that if they'd just done it right and stuck with the books, it could have turned into something awesome - just look at what HBO did with Geroge R. R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire - without changing the story; it's AMAZING!!
@saskewoo the series was way too far from the awesome books...they took the world and the characters and mixed them to an intolerable show...Maybe the series would have been better if I hadn't read the books beforehand.
I admit that, having also read the books beforehand, I pretty much hated the first couple of shows. But since it was so different from the books, I was able to separate the one from the other and see the show for what it was: easy entertainment.
@saskewoo If you look at Terry's website you'll see that he didn't like how it turned out and didn't have a say in how it was made...It talks about a panel at comic-con where the Executive producer said that the series stuck close to the books and then made a swift retreat because of the fans' eye-rolls
I know, and I believe it would have turned out better if they had involved him and stuck with the books (like HBO did with GoT). I don't think it was wise to make every episode into a closed "story" of itself, because they really neglected the wider story arc (and as enough examples show, it's not like it doesn't work to have one progressive storyline)... Too many bad decisions were made, which is truly a shame, because it could have been so awesome.
@xxasjxx No, it's Amnell. Confessors always keep their last names, and usually pass them on to their mates as well. The only reason Richard didn't take her name was because he wasn't a mate, and is a lord himself.
@acewings221 Watching the trailer should answer that question. Yes, there will be new characters, but Richard and Kahlan will take center stage once more. Otherwise, it wouldn't be billed as a "Richard and Kahlan Novel."
How about making a film series of your books. Take over Harry Potter?

Yay! And it might be conceivable that Kahlan will keep Amnell, or maybe have 2 last names.
