My first rig, had the pleasure of working a US ham in italy during the 1990 world cup (soccer). Not sure about the mode knob, bit more chunky than I remember, 73 G0UDX.
do you know if this exact model which i just got (without power adapter) has the four prongs in the back , are two 120v and the other two 13.5vdc , or its all just 13.5vdc ,two of the wires are of a thicker gauge and the other two that plug into the circuit look like the 13.5vdc please let me know or wher i can get a manuel , im fixing to get my tech lic , my email is jlamojo@yahoo.com ,thanks
I BOUGHT ONE IN THE 70'S, USED IT FOR A FEW MONTHS AND IT HAS BEEN IN ITS ORIGINAL BOX EVER SINCE ..... NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, JUST NEVER GOT TIME TO GET BACK ON THE AIR. IT STILL SEEMS LIKE A "STATE OF THE ART" RADIO. W3JSM
Certainly this is a good radio, it is not the best on the market, but certainly very good for its era,if someone was starting out then this could make a good first radio.
The radio is tuneable from almost DC to 30Mhz so it will allow you onto CB Frequiencies but it is not approved for transmissions on that band, as it is high power(100w approx) and not 27/81 marked, but it would allow you to listen to that band with no problems.
Would you consider this to be a good "starter rig" for new HAMs? Also, I'd like to maintain established contacts on 27.555. I assume this unit can go there?

Mine is an FT-757GX (not an FT-757GXII) I believe it only has a 13.8v DC input on the back.
Not sure where you can get a manual online, might be worth a call to Yaesu they are very helpful.

I also have a FT-757 gx, and I love the old rig! Run it into a MFJ-941D into a G5RV. GREAT old rig and VERY simple to use!
