  • I realize this video was post a long time ago... but wondering if you could list the pickups in order. Otherwise a great video.

  • @jarsful22 Nevermind found the list on page 4. Thanks though.

  • @jarsful22

The first reply on page 5 :)

    1.SCN 2.Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot 3.Texas Special 4.Standard Alnico '82 5. Standard Alnico '89 6. Joe Barden S-Deluxe 7. 57/62 (with modified bridge pu)

A little correction: the 4-th is a "vintage '62" set from 1982, and the last set is a "vintage 62" from 1998.

    Cheers

  • Hi, great video, can you tell me which pick ups are in strat guitar 2,4 and 5, because I like these, thanks

  • great video!!! can you share the tab of your riff? :) thanks a lot!

im thinking to install in my strat (sss) SCN or custom shop 54

what do you think? SCN are too "modern"? cs54 are too noisy?

    pros? contras?

  • @airmakeup

    Sorry, I don't know tabs :(

As per my taste, CS54. I had both, the '54 sounded so lovely, who cares about noise, when the soubd's coming :). SCN is too modern, You are right.

CS54 is my favourite Fender set.

  • Doesn't anyone own a light bulb?

    Big Ron

  • @pufforosso

    Early '80-s vintage reissue

  • @pufforosso

    early '80-s vintage reissue

  • I kinda like #4 & #5...what are they and what pickups are in them? Thanks.

  • @ekserchina

#4 1982 "Dan Smith" Standard, with early '80-s vintage (57,62) reissue pickups

#5 1997 American Standard, with standard (factory) alnico pickups

  • say if you put those pick ups in a guitar that wasnt a strat like a PRS or les paul would you still get the same strat sound?

  • @stephen102

I don't think so...everything matters even though many musicians claim that it doesn't. First of all it would look kinda goofy if you put single coils in a lp or a prs...unless they're P90's...you could get similar sounds or search for something like this but why not get a Strat and do it the old fashioned way. Strats are known for their 'quacky' sound that you can hear here. Good luck and hopefully this helped a bit.

  • what pickups were on the second guitar

  • Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot

  • Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot sounds awesome, which amp did you use?

  • Laney LC50-II ... don't have it any more, now I use GREGORIUS handwired amp.

  • Thanks for your response. Do you have a video of your new amp?

  • I've made the last 4-5 videos using my GREG amps.

  • SCN's didn't work for me. Seemed weak and "plastic" sounding. Drastically so. Really preferred stock PU's from the late 70's/early 80's I had in prior to putting in the Vintage Noiseless. YMMV. BTW, this is a great video. Very helpful as I'm looking at a guitar with Texas Specs in it.

  • I heard the SCN's are a bit bland. What do you think of that? Its kind of hard to hear on youtube.

  • Actually, I think they are great. People get overly caught up in trying to be "vintage correct". If SCN was out at the same time as the original '54 singles, I bet SCN will be more often used since they are noiseless.

  • great point. I like them too.

  • Bless you Khalim63. I've been trying to find something that compared pickups and this is really great. Love the Texas Specials.

  • ah perfect, thanks.

i knew in my heart i was leaning towards lindy fralins

  • love to be able to play that tune though

  • 0:00 American Standard 1989...0:30 Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot... 0:56 Texas Special... 1:23 1982 "Dan Smith"... 1:49 American Standard 1997... 2:18 Joe Barden S-DeLuxe... 2:47 American Vintage '62 1998...

  • Good test. But, rosewood fingerboards change the sound, if compared with respectives in maple.

  • shame it doesnt tell you what each one is, no bother, they all sounded great doesnt help me choose though

  • whats the best neck pickup for a bluesy classic fender strat sound?

  • I think it was a toss-up. They're quite close in sound. Any would do. I have the Texas Specials in my Strat.

  • So much strats. So much jelousy. Great guitars and even better playing.

  • Hi, I have Fender USA with dwo Suhr V54 (N+M) and have to find some good bridge pickup. Barden pickup are interest me, but I don;t play on it. Do Bardens worth price?

  • Nicely done sampling of the different p/u's available.

    Very much appreciated.

    Cheers!

  • Thanks man, this is a great to hear them all in a few minutes. The Joe Bardens jump out for me ,i get them myself for my telecaster.

  • good job!

  • What is your favorite? I liked the texas specials and the fralins best. I think im bias because Im a huge SRV fan.

  • I like all of them :)

I decided to keep 4 Strats:

the "Dan Smith" with factory pups, the blue Am. Standard with Fralins, the '62 RI and the nice sienna sunburst dlx with Bardens.

I'm a SRV fan as well.

    Keep rockin'

  • can you tell us the pickups in order of appereance?

  • In order of appearance:

    1.SCN 2.Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot 3.Texas Special 4.Standard Alnico '82 5. Standard Alnico '89 6. Joe Barden S-Deluxe 7. 57/62 (with modified bridge pu)

Hope You enjoyed :) Thanks for watching.
