I don't think so...everything matters even though many musicians claim that it doesn't. First of all it would look kinda goofy if you put single coils in a lp or a prs...unless they're P90's...you could get similar sounds or search for something like this but why not get a Strat and do it the old fashioned way. Strats are known for their 'quacky' sound that you can hear here. Good luck and hopefully this helped a bit.

SCN's didn't work for me. Seemed weak and "plastic" sounding. Drastically so. Really preferred stock PU's from the late 70's/early 80's I had in prior to putting in the Vintage Noiseless. YMMV. BTW, this is a great video. Very helpful as I'm looking at a guitar with Texas Specs in it.
Actually, I think they are great. People get overly caught up in trying to be "vintage correct". If SCN was out at the same time as the original '54 singles, I bet SCN will be more often used since they are noiseless.

Hi, I have Fender USA with dwo Suhr V54 (N+M) and have to find some good bridge pickup. Barden pickup are interest me, but I don;t play on it. Do Bardens worth price?
I realize this video was post a long time ago... but wondering if you could list the pickups in order. Otherwise a great video.

@jarsful22 Nevermind found the list on page 4. Thanks though.

@jarsful22
The first reply on page 5 :)
1.SCN 2.Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot 3.Texas Special 4.Standard Alnico '82 5. Standard Alnico '89 6. Joe Barden S-Deluxe 7. 57/62 (with modified bridge pu)
A little correction: the 4-th is a "vintage '62" set from 1982, and the last set is a "vintage 62" from 1998.
Cheers

im thinking to install in my strat (sss) SCN or custom shop 54
what do you think? SCN are too "modern"? cs54 are too noisy?
pros? contras?

@airmakeup
Sorry, I don't know tabs :(
As per my taste, CS54. I had both, the '54 sounded so lovely, who cares about noise, when the soubd's coming :). SCN is too modern, You are right.
CS54 is my favourite Fender set.

say if you put those pick ups in a guitar that wasnt a strat like a PRS or les paul would you still get the same strat sound?

I heard the SCN's are a bit bland. What do you think of that? Its kind of hard to hear on youtube.

Good test. But, rosewood fingerboards change the sound, if compared with respectives in maple.

I think it was a toss-up. They're quite close in sound. Any would do. I have the Texas Specials in my Strat.

jay31486 3 years ago
I like all of them :)
I decided to keep 4 Strats:
the "Dan Smith" with factory pups, the blue Am. Standard with Fralins, the '62 RI and the nice sienna sunburst dlx with Bardens.
I'm a SRV fan as well.
Keep rockin'
