  • BTW, anybody remember the days of RAD?

  • Man, that sound, how do I miss that sound.

  • Dale went 38 laps on one load of fuel. Damn, conserving fuel to win a race is one thing, but conserving fuel and winning a race at TALLADEGA is fuckin' amazing.

  • This was where Tony won the Championship.

  • Dang the sound on this video's great. Just not the picture on this video, lol.

  • I was at his race. I assure you that it was 100% caution free! The JR fans were so loud I'm sure it registered as an earthquake.

  • @WhistletoothWorkshop I was at the race too. I was there for Dale Jr's four straight wins and Dale Sr's last win at Talladega. The crowd was so loud for all of those.

  • Ahh the good old days...Miss this so much :(

  • WAsn't this where Mark slammed into Jimmie before the green flag because his steering locked up? Ironic how the rest of the race no cautions happened.

  • Just like a year before...Not even 10 cars crossed the finish line right away...

  • Tape isn't good qulaity, but great to see Jr actually win a race.

  • This year, the restrictor plate tracks are much more exciting.

  • go to racing-reference.info and click on sprint cup series results, go to the 2002 page and find talladega....it says no cautions

  • why are you guys saying it wasn't caution-free??? IT WAS!

  • ok all u people who say jr sucks is an idiot. so what he had a bad season last year. it happens! just calm ur pussies and enjoy the racing...

  • How in the hell does a 'dega race go caution free!?!?

  • @haroof um it happens there more than any where, how long have you been watching nascar

  • This race was caution free. 188 laps under green.

  • doesn't that seem kinda boring?

  • i doubt it was caution free cause there wouldn't be many cars out

  • doubt all you want but it was, the reason so many cars were out was from engine failures. And the finish took place right in the middle of green flag fuel stops so only about 10 cars had enough to last till the end

  • @battalionfan888 yep i was a witness, no cautions!!! My first race and no wrecks at all at TALLADEGA!!?? I think all the Hendrick cars blew engines lol.

  • yeah i remember this race because i was so bored watching this. all the hendrick cars blew up and i kept watching all race hoping for a caution, but one never came.

  • @Steventhe2nd it was caution free, as was the 1997 Winston 500.. run 500 miles without a caution and you'll get a good amount of guys with mechanical failure. The two caution free Talladega races were my favorite restrictor plate races ever!

  • @erasetoimprove The 2001 Talladega 500 was also caution, and it was definately one of the greatest races of all time

  • very boring finish

  • This race went caution free

  • Well, excluding the beginning when Mark Martin and Jimmie Johnson crashed on the PACE LAPS! LOL,

  • COT is the reason Jr isnt doing so well nowadays. DEI had the best cars in Jr's early years. i hate when everyone says that Jr sucks. most of the ppl who say that didnt watch nascar when Jr dominated like a motherfucker. he is a good driver.he is his dads son

  • @666jewkid DEI has never had the best cars. Not even when Sr was alive and ran the team.

  • I miss BP's voice he was a great guy

  • for how many races did they run the 12.5 gallon fuel cell?

  • 4 i think. 2 Talladega races and 2 Daytona races.

  • This was the race when rookie Jimmie Johnson was leading points standings and started first.

  • true dat, he's the only Hendrick driver not in the chase this year.

  • what a shame bad crew choices on that 88 team they need a lotta work for 2010 or else forget it

  • hell they need a new crew a new crew chif and a new driver

  • where the hell was every1 else at????

ive seen this a thousand times and i cant find em??? wierd

  • It was always Jr and Stewart back then

  • I went to this race. It was ungodly hot that day too.

  • This was the fourth straight year where an Earnhardt won the fall Talladega race.

  • I miss Benny =(

  • @gordon24champ every nascar fan does

  • How come he used to have Tony Eury now he has Tony Eury Jr what happened to him?

  • Tony Eury Sr is Brad Keselowski's crew chief in the nationwide series.

  • remember after 04 they couldn't get along so they went seperate ways then poppa eury went to help jr motorsports

  • these things sounded ELECTRIFYING

  • did this race really have no cautions?

  • This was a caution free race. It was the last race to have that. Probably never going to happen again with "competition cautions" and "phantom cautions" we have today.

  • especceslly at talladega

  • @flagman09 it wasn't caution free idiot

  • @MrPatd0308 read the description this was the most recent caution free race.

  • @MrPatd0308 think before you comment

  • @flagman09 it wasn't caution free

  • @flagman09 And let me think, but when tire tests are done, shouldn't that be one of the tests for each tire? What will happen when track conditions change when rain happens?

Also, if a tv camera can pick up the debris, then i will say it's legit, but if i see nothing, i believe nothing.

  • this was such a boring race

  • no doubt this will be the last ever caution-free race in NASCAR. Today, NASCAR would not let that happen because they throw those "debris" cautions to keep it close

  • And to get Jr back on the lead lap. :p

  • Rofl the flag man drops the flag woops let me get the yellow flag he'd probably do that XD

  • i hated nbc broadcast

  • I was happy Junior won, but I was dissapointed in this finish. Boring!

  • Why? Because NASCAR didn't throw a complete B.S. caution for debris in the grass on the backstraight with 10 to go?

  • Did I mention a B.S. caution with ten laps to go? All I meant was that I wish the finish involved more cars in a pack. Personaly I like it when a restrictor plate race ends without a caution, but like I said, I would've prefered it if the race wasn't such a fuel mileage race. Just my preference, don't hate. I can't stand argueing over trivial crap on You Tube, it's pointless.

  • God i miss winston, ever since nextel/sprint took over nascar has gone downhill, winston knew how to put on a show.

  • The finish to the 2001 EA Sports 500 was better compared to the finish in 2002.

  • Obviosuly becasue half the field crashed on the backside on the last lap with a car upside-down, much better.

  • Between Talladega and Daytona... they're the only tracks this nontalent can win on.

  • hey i would like to see you win at any track.and jr. has won on short tracks and places like michigan.

  • hey i dont have to. this isn't about me. i'm just stating the obvious that junior almost never wins on any other tracks. you know, the ones that actually require a bit of driving skill above the rest?

  • texas, atlanta, phenix,oh and he won the winston as a rookie.

  • Goody for Baby Dale. You know there's a lot of drivers who have all of that and more? What makes him so special? Oh, that nine letter word in his name that comes after Dale and before JUNIOR. That's what.

  • well he wins so yea that makes him special, and i wasnt even a SR. fan before jr. came along.

  • no you actually have to have a lot of talent because controlling a car going at 190mph the whole time is not easy and at Daytona is harder because that track is bumpy and at Talladega the track is so wide so you have to know how to block

  • Yeah? Alright, that's true. But you have to have a hell of a lot more car control and talent to win races on road courses and other tracks, which almost never happens when you're Junior.

  • Yeah, those plate tracks like, Bristol, Richmond, Texas, Phoenix, Michigan, Atlanta....... I dont know no what Jr would do without all these Daytona like tracks! DUMBASS.

  • Woah, 6 non-plate track victories? He's fucking amazing! Everyone bow to the most overrated athlete ever!

  • You made the claim he could not win at tracks involving car control. I simply stated the fact that he obviously has. He may be overhyped, but he is a good driver.

  • dude try like more than 10

  • ooo ten races. junior sucks, end of story.

  • ooo how many races have you won? none. none even if u try. hes way better than u would be so eat shit

  • i also haven't been raised into a racing family and given any of the opportunities he has - anyway, this has got nothing to do with me, bud. junior sucks compared to his competitors and if you can't see that then you're a damn moron.

  • i guess there all plate victories too lol

  • boy when one hendrick car blows, they all go.

  • DUH... is their package and at least i didnt go to that Hendick meeting that time

  • o this was the race when they all 4 blew there motors?

  • gotta luv BP

    wish he wuz still here

  • This is a Lightning challenge in Nascar Thunder 2003.

  • the front 3 were in the same order at the 04 daytona 500

  • your wrong only the front 2 the 3rd is ricky rudd but in the 04 daytona 500 the 3rd placer was scott wimmer.try to check at 2004 daytona 500 finish.

  • no front 2 were nd the 4th place guy kurt busch crossd the line behind jr nd stewart but he was a lap down

  • thats why i just said except for the kurt busch but he wasnt a lap down

  • Wow I looked at the upper running order.....was this the race where all the Hendrick engines blew within the first 300 miles?

  • that would have been the one. all 7 engines. gone

  • yeah i remember that, when they came back in spring 03, i was nervous that they would blow again

  • no jimmies blew with like 15 to go

  • this is when nbc was the best.

  • go dale jr

  • man i cant wati till 08 with hendrick

  • i cant wait till 08 with roushs WakPak. 16, 17, 99 all day long.

  • Would you by any chance have Tony Stewart's post race interview where he found out he was the new points leader?

  • Was Junior's spotter in 2002 Michael Waltrip's spotter later?

  • You put the victory lane speech on here

  • the race is alright.

  • Are there any other races that were caution-free?

  • at talladega? just one other, April 2001

  • Also wasnt one in 97' where Martin won.....wasnt that caution free?

  • Yep 1997 Winston 500 which was run 2 weeks later due to rain.

  • ya it was

  • @battalionfan888 actually, there was one more caution-free race in either 1997 or 1998

  • @sandman47546 your right, it was spring 1997, rookie mistake by me lol

  • @battalionfan888 That was when Mark Martin beat Dale Earnhardt Sr right?

  • @sandman47546 also there was one back in the day that Mark Martin won that was caution free.. like the 80's or something

  • @KingCuervo88 yep spring 1985, thanks for pointing that out.

  • @KingCuervo88 but i think that bill elliott won that race

  • @KingCuervo88 they still didn't use restrictor plates in '85, did they.

  • @sandman47546 i think they started using them after '87... after allison's crash into the fence

  • Only crash was on the pace laps

  • lol true

  • Ahh, back when NASCAR on NBC was good.

  • back when bestwick was in the booth, which i think he still should be

  • Yep. How we missed those days...

  • i hate this picture

  • sorry its the tape

  • Ok, then you post the finish of the race with a good picture.
