  • maybe a month after the fire was over i was running around the coast past all of the burnt out bush and it was so sad because the whole hill was BLACK, but its grown back now :)

  • I was on the moterway infront of it that goes to the train station

  • omg i miss shelly bay so much, california has SOME pretty beaches but nothing compares to titahibay :-( It looks like there is a volcano there.

    KIWI IN CALI!!

  • any chance of a video of the aftermath?

  • OMG i saw that ! The smoke was huge. It went all the way to Wellington Harbour or something .

  • Hasnt he ever heard of the ozone layer? what an idiot

  • I hope no one was hurt.

  • top effort, no houses were burnt down so its all good

  • Sad stuff, weren't there 2 people involved?

  • WOO GO PLIMMERTON! this is so sad!:( my friend lives in Titahi Bay, and im pretty sure she had to evactuate.

  • It was a teenage who did it..... He needs a better life..

  • @ chingabob1: He needs a piece of metal more like it. As does that mongrel who fed kittens to a dog.

  • @chingabob1 Well said mate.

  • How Did it happen

  • Haha, I live near the fire station and when the siren rang off and hurt my ears, oh and uh you spelt titahi wrong. you spelt it 'tetahi'

  • Ohh woow

  • My house is only 100m from where the fire got upto last night. and i wasn't evacuated...

  • lol not like we're losing anything worth keeping.

  • @Crabv1

You're right; no houses were damaged.

  • i could smell the smoke from seatoun!!!

  • I spent the whole of yesterday watching from my deck in Ascot Park. There was smoke as far as the eye could see.

  • Much bigger than the one in the Hutt Valley 2 weeks ago

  • thats right,it creates a nursery for natives to re-generate.

  • nothin like a good fire to fill in a Sunday

  • apparetly the fire alarm went off again a few mins ago for volenteers to go back to the fire station

  • good riddance to the gorse on the bay hills.. hope my cuzzie ok over the hill in moult street.....baygirls 4eva

  • if you just leave an area of gorse it turns into an area of native bush, which is what was happening on the hills

  • apologies, I thought if you left an area of gorse each season its seeds would spread across neighbouring hillside. I am sure there is still plenty of gorse in Plimmerton. Paremata, Porirua, Tawa, Johnsonville..........

theres gold in them there hills.......

    FLOWERING GORSE

  • No, it turns into a fire hazard, they were clearing the gorse and replanting native bush, which also doesn't burn very well. Thats why there are still pockets of green in the valley.

  • apparently its still going atm, but not much

  • lol

  • Gosh, hope no wildlife was harmed - used to live in Aotea.

  • how many carboard boxes were evacuated in porirua

  • its still going at the moment .

  • Hope everthings ok

  • Was a lot of smoke over Tawa.

  • not surprised the norwester was pretty strong

  • I live just across the harbour and I can see the whole thing just takin over the place

  • I was going down to whitby new world and i saw the smoke xD

  • TVNZ opened tonights news with this vid

  • it's still out of control. I can still see flames from where I live.

  • @zeniths241 was going for it when I shot this. Heard they were evacuating people on the other side of hill

  • I can see flashing lights on the streets on gloaming hill (I think, not sure what that hill is called). And I heard that they started evacuating. The flames (as far as I can see, could be the angle) seem really close to the houses.

  • BBQ out of control!

  • @Funkussionist Looks like it, can see the source in the car park area
