No, it turns into a fire hazard, they were clearing the gorse and replanting native bush, which also doesn't burn very well. Thats why there are still pockets of green in the valley.
I can see flashing lights on the streets on gloaming hill (I think, not sure what that hill is called). And I heard that they started evacuating. The flames (as far as I can see, could be the angle) seem really close to the houses.

omg i miss shelly bay so much, california has SOME pretty beaches but nothing compares to titahibay :-( It looks like there is a volcano there.
