This collage is very misleading. The projectile fired by the artillery piece was only about 1 kiloton. The damage shown was from tests of weapons yielding around 20 kilotons. running them together gives the impression that the "aftermath" is the result of the Arty-fired weapon. It's not. Arty.-fired wpns were for tactical use by outnumbered NATO troops against Russian tank formations in crowded Europe. They HAD to be low-yield.
@drmaltfeld1 not only that, but this isn't rare footage either, it was taken out of an awesome documentary called "atomic cafe" which dug it out of the US national archives
@drmaltfeld1 In that case the US goverment must be lying when they say the device had the yield of 15 kilotons. Where did you heard that the yield was 1kiloton?
@frimodig I'm afraid you've collapsed 2 different things together. The bomb dropped on Hiroshima had a yield of 15 Kt. However, the yield of so-called "Artillery-Fired Atomic Projectiles (AFAPs), had VERY low yields. For example, the W-79 had a variable yield which could be set at anything between 100 tons of TNT equivalent to 1.1 Kt of TNT equivalent.
@drmaltfeld1 Yes but in wikipedia it clearly says that the yield was 15kt. The reason why the aftermath picures is wrong is because they was mistakenly mixed up with footage of another nuke-test, but the yield in this test is still 15kt.
@drmaltfeld1 Sorry, but you are the one who is mixed up. This is test footage of the Upshot-Knothole Grable test. It was conducted in 1953. The W79 wasnt developed until the 80s. This is the M65 cannon that fired a 280mm nuclear shell that detonated with a yield of around 15kt. You should really delete your comment at the top. While you do make some good points about most nuclear artillery being small in yield, your information about this video is totally false. I suggest researching the M65.
@philritter21 OK, let's be clear. I agree that the W-79 and W-79ER were not developed until the '80s. So, I stand corrected on that point. As to the weapon actually shown being launched from the so-called "atomic cannon,: that was the W-19 AFAP, which yielded 15 to 20 Kt. While the yield of this weapon was not as low as that of the W-79, it was certainly very low by the standards of the megaton-range strategic weapons of its day.
@drmaltfeld1 Right... but my point was that you said this was a 1kt test with video of 15-20kt damage. Everything shown here except for the quick shot of the shockwave approaching along the ground, and that random still slide of the Climax test is apparently from Grable. But either way, Im glad to see there are people out there who know random information about nuclear tests as well, haha.
we're pretty far away from the old antimatter bomb... we really should just stick with comp b and torpex... these super explosives are going to be the death of us all... then there won't be any killers or victims... just bodies.

the cameras are 7 miles away LOL thats whY it didnt move it a battlefield tactical nuke...with MAYBE 1/4 yeild of the hiroshima bomb camera isnt moving at that disatnce
@TheTimmy123123 the nuclear explosion it self is real, the cars and trees being destroyed are footage from movies/shows. thought that's what it would actually be like.
@Brinemusic the infrared and light energy is so intense it incinerates anything that can burn, imagine one of those military lasers that can blow up missiles, multiply the power by about 1000 and then imagine it being able to fire in all directions at once.
@Alexvideoclip A nuclear bomb is NOT too big to fit in a Howitzer. What are you, stupid or something? A 50-kiloton MIRV can be carried in your hands! You obviously know nothing about physics, OR nuclear weaponry. I have studied them for 41- years.
@Alexvideoclip Sorry, I am just shocked that someone would think a nuclear bomb would be too big to fit iin a cannon! A nuclear bomb can be carried in a lunchbox!
this is only a part of a documentary film called "Trinity and Beyond". it is one of the best documentaries that i have ever seen, one of the best things is the music which was performed by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra.
@BionicleTV21 I've asked myself the same question. I think the cameras probably had a HUGE zoom, like a telescope attached to it, so they could be placed really far away.
They say if you stare at a nuclear missile, you can go blind, that if your mouth is shut, the sheer pressure of being near the shockwave will blow up your ear drums. And breathing deeply can induce shock. It's a no on eisutation, open mouth/close mouth ur fucked. And radiation sickness is supose to be one VERY fucked up way to die
How'd they film the shockwave hitting the buildings and things in the first part? Wouldn't the camera have either been blasted away or fried by the EMP?
First is the white bang which will blind you. Then the explosion if your anywere close to it your dead. Then radation if you close enought to see the explosion you might get hit by radiation and suffer.
@TheNp42 They never say pull the fire fighters...They say evacuate, I should know...I was a fire fighter. They only say pull it... when is is a controlled demolition.

Anyone who would prefer this in any aspect, doesn't have love for people or the planet we live on. There is nothing good about these weapons.
Nothing rare about it. This clip came from a DVD called "the atomic bomb movie" I have this DVD.... Cool, but not rare.... Yeah, nukes are pointless. We ALL lose if used in an all out exchange. It will be a lose-lose situation and death will be slow and beyond painful for the "survivors" Study up on Chernobyl and it becomes obvious the pain and suffering involved. Regardless what country, those are real human beings suffering. It could happen to any Nuclear plant at any time. Very sad.

Nothing rare about it. This clip came from a DVD called "the atomic bomb movie" I have this DVD.... Cool, but not rare.... Yeah, nukes are pointless. We ALL lose if used in an all out exchange.
