Stephen McFeely & Christopher Markus, the screenwriters who penned "Captain America: The First Avenger" just got hired to write the sequel for Marvel Studios! Obviously the sequel is going to be present day and take place after "The Avengers". I don't have any more details at the moment except that the writers got hired.

Awesome teaser! I have no problems with Chris Evans as Captain America - a bit of a pity we won't get the Invaders (Namor, Human Torch, Toro, Spitfire etc) in the film, but Red Skull, Adin Zola and Peggy Carter are more than a good sub for those.

He turned down Captain America like 9 times or something like that. If you look at some of his noncomic-booky work though, he's an amazing actor. Sunshine, Cellular, London...look them up. Not looking forward to this. Don't flame me for saying this. All I mean is that there was a certain something I was looking for in this movie, and I didn't see it. I'm sure the movie will be fine; good special effects, decent acting, good story even maybe. actually not really. marvel studios is making all their films (iron man, iron man 2, thor, avenges, hulk, capt. america) as part of the same universe. this "universe" is seperate from fantastic 4, spiderman, xmen, etc because they were done through fox or paramount, not marvel studios. they plan on rebooting f-4 anyway. so although he was in f4, its not considered part of the same continuity

I was a bit cynical before I saw this spot - I didn't like the costume, was on the fence about the casting, was worried that the Red Skull would be ruined by being Hydra instead of a Nazi - but in one fell swoop, all my concerns disappeared when I saw this. It all looks very good, they're staying true to the source material and I was just amazed to see skinny Steve Rogers and how accurate the Red Skull looked! All great. I might just have to see it. Chris Evans has convinced me.
