Fascinating piece of film. The standard of tackling isn't great but the ball handling among the backs is impressive. Obviously a soccer pitch with the rugby goal posts clamped onto the soccer goals so it might have been before or after a soccer game, but maybe not. The crowd seemed pretty involved.
My guess is that it was probably prior to or after a football match, which could explain the large crowd. Notice the football goals and pitch markings still visible.

действительно...и чемпа в стране не было - а народу-то, народу...
я думаю, что этот матч был в программе дня перед каким-нибудь культовым футбольным - иначе трудно объяснить такое кол-во зрителей

Wow this is good and from 1962 only 46 years ago and i bet that would have atracted like about 90,000 or more than that like about 100,000.

This is great! Hard to imagine that in 1960s rugby could attract thousands of spectators in Russia!
