I met these guys, my friends girl friend mad him made cause she went and made out with the chick from the band when they came to the club backstreets in austin about 1987
@HawK047 This acoustic guitar combined with the dark electronic sound, doesn´t it remind of Enjoy the Silence? Enjoy the Silence was made in 90’ and this song was in 85’; the 80’s, what a time so full of inspiration! One question, which one do you prefer Enjoy the Silence or Stranger? Extremely difficult question to answer… I suppose both
Children, children, children... Yes, this is one of the first COX songs, it was self-produced in 1983. F242's first record was recorded in 1981, but they didn't attain any real popularity until MUCH later. They're both GREAT, so why the quibbling??? I don't think they influenced each other at all, but are each a unique product of their respective environments. Lucky for us.
Madam, thats the best you can come up with? I said you need to learn to read lady....YOU REALLY SHOULD, as that was not an attack. it was a suggestion, as you dont seem to comprehend words so well. Just an idea.
When you say I don't speak English so well, that doesn't seem like a suggestion to me. Seems like I know better English than you, and I wasn't even born speaking it
OK seriously, your arguments are so weak I don't even want to bother anymore. When you gain some music knowledge come talk to me again, because I'm not interested in your 8 year old behaviour
Actually, this is one of the first COX songs....and it came about 2 years before the first F242 release....so I stand by what I said. COX and F242 did not influence each other in any way. Depeche Mode's album "Construction Time Again" was the album that launched the Industrial music scene...then they quickly departed it never to return.
The Day/Stranger was released in 1985 a year after Clan of Xymox's first release and 2 years after their formation as a band. Front 242's first album release were in 1982, with Geography and they had other releases before in 1981. You might still stand by what you said but that doesn't mean that it's right. Still, I don't think either infuence each other as I said before.
that is kinda sad you have that all memorized, or worse if you spent the time to research this and come up with actuall dates...what a loser you are. I do still stand by my assessment.
AND are you a stupid moron......I was the one who said they do NOT influence each other...gimme a break and learn to read.
OK, this is your response? When you go around stating false data that I refute your response is that I am pathetic? Nice try. When you've got nothing I guess....
And I said from the beginning that I don't believe they influence each other, but I wanted to make clear the mistake you've made that F242 are not around very long and the fact that they are around maybe a little longer, though it's not so much important for me, because I consider both bands as great influential bands of the 80's
Actually, Front 242 are around since the 80's so this song is NOT older than them, it is about the same age as them, as Clan of Xymox is too. But I still don't think they have influenced each other a lot, even in this song.
So many times I drove in the fog and rain just to see my beloved in midtown Sacramento, just to spend an hour or two with her, then I had to leave.
And again, I listened to this song on the way back to my apartment in east Sac, hoping that I would see her again the next day. Sometimes I got to see her the next day, sometimes I did not.
It has been a long day, too many days to count....
Darkwave? Never heard of it, you must be one of those Emo Noobs... Its ok, I'll call the Waaaambulance for whatever problem you're having at this hour...
Darkwave wasnt a term when this album came out, nor was Emo... it was Goth, plain and simple... times change, younger generations take things and twist them into horrid representations and claim the best from the past as their own..
The first time i heard this i was with my mates in crawley our price way back in 1985 so anyway i bought it, the 12" version, anyway that was the last i heard of eymox, what the hell happened???
Stranger (taped). I remember seeing them at Berkeley Square and having their Reel-To-Reel recorder pointed out by a musician friend.(notice the intro and the main parts of the track are exactly the same as the 12" version). Nonetheless a huge One-Hit Club Song that was often mixed from or to New Order's Blue Monday, or the ultra-rare Fatheads Calling All Clubs.
when my friends heard him (now my husband)say clan of xymox was one of his favs, they justlooked at each other and smiled. The perfect couple, they thought. They were right! I miss them....

Being a great follower of Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb myself, may I say this is greatly influenced by EBM? (rather than Darkwave)
pianoman74 2 years ago
except the fact that this song is older than anything by F242 or N-Ebb....so not sure how you make that leap of faith.
Whiney8YearOld 2 years ago
