STALKER: Clear Sky - PC Gameplay (DX10 Max Settings)

I hear the developers of this game, GSC got the rights to make Xbox 360 games, wonder what they could be doing, if they're still in business that is. Anybody else hear about this?

@baron8107 they're supposed to be closing down due to the Ukranian government seizing their assets, and Gregorovich (Director & Owner of the Stalker series.) not being happy with the development of the Stalker series, which sounds absurd, but is not for sure, so anything that has to do with consoles other than PC with Stalker is an irrelevant subject at this point. :(

I hope they do whatever gets them on their feet, because I'd like to see if consoles could handle the X-ray engine. I mean, they can handle Frostbite 2.0 or CryEngine 3 with no serious issues, at least when I played the games that first featured that engine. Besides, given the position that GSC is in, could you blame them if they ported one or two of the three? And X-ray's an old engine, right? shouldn't be that hard to port...

Then again, just my opinion, no fanboyism here :)

@baron8107 Its an old engine, but is a demanding one, and porting newly released engines like they did for other games will bring a hell of a lot of problems and also down grading the graphics to make Stalker playable in other consoles specially with buggy X-ray and then getting rocks thrown at them by PC fans. I don't think GSC will be porting the Stalker series to other consoles anytime soon if they ever come back, they're already huge in PC as the small awesome company they already are lol.

Unlike most I don't care about graphics when It's open world, although the minimum would do. Then again I heard that GSC was retiring the X-ray, maybe for something with a bit more flexibility? Who knows.

@baron8107 yup, for Stalker 2 if it ever comes out... 3 games already with old X-ray and it was a pain for the developers and even impossible to release it for console, terrible encoding among other things, but like you said a new more flexible engine, it might bring the series in for the new upcoming consoles, hell, Metro 2033 used a similar engine made by other guys (A4 games) who used to work at GSC before Stalker was even released and it looked amazing, GSC think they stole X-ray :\ lol

@baron8107 Yea, Tales Of The Troika and Roadside Picnic have similarities, but I think is influenced mostly by Roadside Picnic, and the Stalker movie which are both the same in how they describe The Zone. The movie was based on Roadside Picnic anyways.

You ask me, they could work with bethesda (If that's possible), but that might be a bad idea. I brought this up because they recently came out with an engine (Creation Engine) that looked and played okay on both platforms, the only glitches I saw when Skyrim first came out were somewhat benign, not very serious or damaging. Or maybe, by chance, I didn't run into any serious glitch around that time. Who knows...

@baron8107 4A games woops. hmmm a partnership with bethesda, I don't know about that, sounds really sketchy, I like Fallout and the Elder Scrolls and all, but its better for GSC to rise on their own, they just need some polishing, though GSC & Stalker are well know world wide they're still small compared to the big time companies out there, they just need some time, Shadow of Chernobyl came out in 07 then CS and CoP came out 2/3 years after to me that was really fast in releasing new chapters.

You know, the average reviews of Crysis are far higher than a review of any Stalker game. Stalker is also widely known only for it's graphics just so you know. I prefer Crysis because it's much more open for creative gameplay. Unlimited options to approach a situation, and you can play the game any way you want it.

Crysis has an alright story but it's gameplay and graphics exceed Stalker's. And it's less buggy. But I love Stalker.
