Modest mouse is probably one of the best bands of being honest with their fans by not editing instruments and vocals, i saw them live and they sounded exactly like the studio version, or at least more than any other band/artist that i have seen or heard live.

@naaastyJAM I haven't seen them live yet, but at least on the youtube videos i can say i'm not really excited about what i see and hear. There are many bands who sound great live, even better than on CD: Okkervil River, The Airborne Toxic Event, The Magnetic Fields, and so on. And they all make music which includes several instruments and complex sonorities. And they give a better approach to their songs on live shows than on studio records.

@NalpalmBunny They don't sound at all like they do on the studio versions. And i strongly dislike that. Besides a few performances, they got me very disappointed in most of their live shows. They're technically good, but can't express much feeling in their live shows. Their cd's are very good, but i understand there's a lot of work behind the songs, just to make them sound so much better than they actually are. They're a genious band, though, and i think not many people can argue with that.
