I saw Jerry play live at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion here in Houston/The Woodlands in 1998 (the ill-fated year I started dating my ex-wife LMFAO) with Metallica and Days Of The New and Jerry stole the show... He led off with this song and I thought I was gonna drop my joint...

A lot of the songs on the Boggy depot album such as this were actually meant for the next AIC album but Layne wasnt in a fit state at the time so Jerry decided to do a solo album instead. Its a pity cos that would have been really awesome..

He doesn't do too many solos because its out of place with the music he plays. He's perfectly capable of shredding and epic solos (listen to Facelift again from front to back, and tell me there's not some shredding worthy of Eddie Van Halen), but it would seem awkward and shoehorned in with most of his and AIC's songs. Angry Chair, for example, is a phenomenal song, and the guitar solo is pretty badass, but it doesn't quite fit with the atmosphere of the song or the rest of Dirt.

Just because you can play an ass-load of notes really fast doesn't make you a better guitarist, its all about playing what sounds good.
