    Cheers, Steve...

  • Are you using a live backing band or a playalong recording? (Not that there's anything wrong with recordings...I'm just curious. ^^")

  • Dang... I've been playing for a little less than three years, I'll probably be about as good as your son in that video in another six.

  • 1:34 to 1:45 made my day

    sorry bad english!

  • MUSIC FOR MY EARS . PERFECT. I HOPE ONE DAY SEE YOU GUYS ON THE STREET

  • Great Disstortianbassist I know what u mean but how can a tenor be an octave too low ?

  • "1...2....2....2..."

  • impressive tenor, great alto for his age keep it up!

  • hey, is that tenor playing an octave too low or something?

  • Fantastic. My dad told me about you the other year, but I've sadly never seen you on the street! I should still have your CD kicking around somewhere, so if I can dig it out then I'll get listening.

This is such a fun piece. I'm a trombonist, and I only found out about this recently, after my stints at the Jazz Café's open sessions. However, the head's so upbeat and the tune's fun to solo over, that I can't get enough of it.

  • @DeedMDavid Hi David, you must be blowing some hot jazz if your playing at the Jazz Cafe! Busking season will be starting for us again at Easter so maybe we might get to meet in person. Make sure you introduce yourself! Are you using the ireal book app? Blooming marvellous invention...

    Cheers, Steve...

  • @groovetonemusic Not using any app in any case. I don't even have a current phone, 'cause I still don't see the need for one yet. I've seen plenty of people fetching chord sheets and the like, however, and that stuff looks neat. I have an actual Real Book which I use occasionally, but most of the stuff at the Café is me improvising and making up backings.

It'd be great to speak to you, and it'd be even greater if we could play a session or few at some point.

  • @DeedMDavid I totally agree with getting together at some point when Alexander is back from Manchester...

I will contact you when we are coming to the Toon next..

    Cheers, Steve...

  • How old is that kid

  • @rhardy57 13 in this video...

  • damn that alto is killin

  • @AlfaAston123 it's all about tonguing the notes. If you start slowly and build up the speed you will get it..

  • Nice job by both on a swinging up-tempo 12-bar blues...keep on busking... jazz belongs all over, as it's the language of the people...Cheers!

  • @dewmikester1 Thanks for that.

  • @AlfaAston123 The alto is a 991 yanagisawa. Great hand made Japanese sax maker, you should check them out... Thanks for the kind words.

  • Great!

    Cheers from México

  • @jaldaracaf Cheers from the UK....

  • Hey that was really great! I play a cannonball alto and I love this song!

  • 2:47 to 2:58 was very nice.

  • lol in 1:12 this old woman walks past and she reaches into her pocket and you think she gonna give some money but she just pulls out a tissue!

  • kids damn good, is that a keilwerth has the right color and bell size plus it looks like alt. F# is a pearl.

  • @DMANGUY14

Is that an underslung octave if so your gonna have to help me out.

  • @DMANGUY14 It's a Yanagisawa 991b. Awesome sax hand made in Japan.

  • @groovetonemusic O ya, I wasn't even thinking about it being a Yani. Should of since it has the right engraving and the right black. I really liked that sax when I played the regular gold lacquer while sax shopping.

  • @groovetonemusic: I have a Yanagisawa T991 and I prefer it over Selmer ;)

  • NICE! The kid is killing it! Nice job to both of you

  • keep blowing kid

  • Is the kid playing on a Yamaha Yas-82z? Thats a great horn.

  • That kid is Awesome !!! how many years is he? 12 maybe? great

    nice playing!!

  • I like the kids solo how old are you your good im really good to i play trumpet i have played this song with my schools jazz band Good job keep playing music

  • You guys are insane. I don't know what you're doing busking, you guys should be in clubs playing shows. Your playing is great, your solos fantastic. I think you guys will definitely go far.

  • U pple were making a dam killing

  • What a cool combo.

  • damn, that kid can really rip on that tenor! bald guy was pretty aswesome as well! This was great

  • Hey guys, great playing.

  • yo, tenor player, you chewing gum? that's not good for your horn. It corrodes the interior.

Other than that, that was a pretty awesome performance. Nice solo alto player.

One more thing... Tenor player, at the begging before you played, it looked like you had no reed in your mouthpiece. Are my eyes messed up?

  • Hi Mr T, The gum in question was some what old at the point of performance, so I doubt the mint element would cause corrosion, but I will not chew and play in future, it's a very bad habit. The reed is a Legree plastic. They cost a bit (£15.00), but last a long time. The one in shot is at least 6 months old and only just went to reed heaven (which is 5 months after this video). They are not everyones cup of tea, but Alexander and I swear by them...

    Thanks for the comments,

    Cheers Steve...

  • Thanks and keep playing good!

  • @groovetonemusic At least it isn't chewing tobacco.

  • @groovetonemusic It really doesnt matter if the gum was old or not. I have a Beautiful Cannonball Lady Godiva unlaquered and i chewed blue gum while i was playing and now it has permanant blue residue in the bottom of the bell. be careful. take good care of yyour saxophone!!!

  • sounds amazing!

  • very very nice

  • Notes for eb alto

  • That tenor sax has a tone that I have never heard.

    Beautiful.

  • amazing!

    Good job!

  • wow that kid is awesome

  • Great Music, thanks for the song i thought that the music ( in Sax tenor ) was played in another octave

  • WOW fuck me jesus, how old are You? (question for younger player). What kind of saxophone/mouthpiece/reed are You playing? I am knock out, I start playing (learning would be better word to describe ;) ) alto 1 year ago and can't play even the main theme of this great song :(.
