I'm from Sweden. This movie was the first movie I ever owned (on good old VHS!), a Christmas gift from my uncle when I was two or three. Of course, it was dubbed into Swedish, so the English original version does not give me the same sense of nostalgia as the voices I heard as a child. Still, a wonderful movie that always brings tears to my eyes. Many years later I read the book, first in Swedish, then in English. At 23, it is still my favourite novel, all year around.
Hallmark makes the ornaments, last years was Mickey sitting at his high desk with his feather pen, and this year it's goofy as jacob marley, I collect them for my kids,,we never miss it..brings back so many memories.....thanks for upolading...
This is iconic. I remember growing up in so. california and watching this Christmas eve, then we could select our one present and go to bed looking forward to christmas morning! Now I'm 27, and all the things I want cannot be acquired in a store, like a wonderful relationship and piece of mind or a hot boyfriend with a rockin bod. in short-nostalgia is good.
This is such a warm Christmas special. The opening theme just makes your heart smile. Makes me think of snow and sitting in front of the tree by the fire. Simply amazing, it breaks my heart to no end that this doesn't come on TV anymore.
I waited every christmas for this to come on tv. I haven't seen it since i was a kid. It's amazing how that warm and cozy childhood feeling sprung right back as soon as I started watching this. There's another childhood christmas cartoon i'd like to see, but I don't know the name of it. Maybe u guys can help. It was about three bears who hybernate for the winter, but the two cubs stay awake to see santa. One of the cubs name was "Na-nook," i think. Anyone know what i'm talking about?
Thank you very much and a very Merry Christmas to the people who voiced the Disney characters back in the day: Cleareance Nash (Donald Duck); Wayne Allaine (Mickey Mouse); Eddie Carrol (Jiminy Cricket); and to those who recently passed away. Sorry I misspelled Alwine's last name--it was a mistake. And to Walt Disney himself.
@logan25wolves It's "Oh What a Merry Christmas Day" By Irwin Kostal & Frederick Searels. While other sources credit Walt Disney & Carl Stallings for this marvelous song. Sadly this song was never released on records, cassette tapes or CDs..
@bigg34691 Thank you!! I should have been more attentive and viewed the opening credits. It's a shame they never released the song, but I guess that's what we have dirpy for. Words cannot express how much I love this version of A Christmas Carol.

Where can I get those classic shorts that usually ran BEFORE the Christmas Carol? You know, where Donald takes on his nephews in a snowball fight? Or when Chip and Dale were in Mickey's tree?
i was never raised with or encouraged in any way to watch american tv or films as an English kid, but my cousins watched this every christmas eve. without fail. disney is in no way dear to me, infact it's saccharine turgidity mostly makes me lose faith in storytelling, and looking back on this as an adult, dickens was just another notch on the drawing board for Disney.inc., but right now im just pleased to have resolved what the fuck mickey mouse says @2:48 as 'thaw out' and not 'fault the ink'.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is the darkest thing Disney"
Ahem...Black Cauldren with a skeleton zombie army, The Rescuers with kidnapping an orphan, The Rescuers Down Under with poaching, MOST Disney movies with parental abandonment/death, etc.
yea. but that's alright. we all die. in fact, walt disney itself is practically a hundred years old now~
And Uncle Walt (i.e. the essence of the mouse), Lillian (his wife; his "Minnie", as it were), & a few of their kids (like daughter Sharon) are already long-since dead. Walt was cremated, so unfortunately, he can't be rolling in his grave at how his company shills out garbage for profit now, but that's why fans of the classics must be heard, so as to not forget our lovely past.
awesome and I used to be terrified of the Goofy the ghost when I was like 6 or 7 although I saw it at my Grandmas when it was already really old ha ha so yeah practically none of my generation knows this :L
@GoldenbanjoDJ Yeah! I miss real Disney! You never see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, or Donald anymore. A few days ago I was able to find the Special Edition of The Lion King on DVD! Oh the childhood memory! Did you ever watch DTV?
You realise...if you give money to the poor...they won't be poor anymore! And if they're not poor anymore..then you won't have to raise money for them anymore...and if you don't have to raise money for them anymore...then you would be out of a job. Now gentlemen, don't ask me to put you out of a job..not on Christmas Eve! Great logic!
I have to watch this every so often I mean this is Wayne Alwine's first performance as mickey I think it is right to honor him with watching this.Plus I still believe he was the best mickey and that no one will be able to top him.
@Cherucha: Except Uncle Walt himself, since he voiced his alter-ego first & foremost. Ironic that Mickey & Minnie are the alter-egos of Walt & Lillain Disney, and were, until 2009, voiced by the also married Wayne Allwine & Russi Taylor.
@TheGudZeBadAnDaFozzy no its not just you. between you and me (and whoever else reads this comment) that part still scares the shit out of me, hehehe.
@TheGudZeBadAnDaFozzy I tried not to think of the scene when Marley was sneaking up on Scrooge when he walked up the stairs when I would go to sleep as a child! Yeah
@TheGudZeBadAnDaFozzy Nah but seeing the part where Scrooge is hanging on to a root while struggling to avoid falling into a coffin full of fire is the part that always made Me feel uneasy as a kid every year when this would air on Christmas Eve.
lol....I love Donald Duck he and Daffy were always my favorite characters. Looking back at this now as a adult did anyone else besides me think "cannibalism" when they talked about having plump goose with chestnut dressing XD ?

i love this! do you know who sang the song at the start? i first saw this when i was little, brings back happy childhood memories :-D thank you for sharing :-*
RIP Clarence Nash, the man who did the voice of Donald Duck. He passed away from Lukemia after this film was realease. This film will be in your honour. Forever in our hearst Clarence Nash
If anybody wants a DVD of Mickey's Christmas Carol AS ORIGINALLY AIRED in the 80s with the Donald and Pluto cartoons before it AS WELL AS Michael Eisner's introduction at the beginning, then please send me a PM.
I am totally addicted to this movie. I started watching as a kid and now it's a family tradition. We always start watching Christmas stuff in October. We cant wait for Christmas! Great memories...Not the richest Christmases but the most loving!
They were great at voice overs for the worlds most famous cartoon characters! I was born in 1984 and remember them for a very long time. I was brought up on Disney
