  • I'm from Sweden. This movie was the first movie I ever owned (on good old VHS!), a Christmas gift from my uncle when I was two or three. Of course, it was dubbed into Swedish, so the English original version does not give me the same sense of nostalgia as the voices I heard as a child. Still, a wonderful movie that always brings tears to my eyes. Many years later I read the book, first in Swedish, then in English. At 23, it is still my favourite novel, all year around.

  • I watched this at school! I love it! :D

  • @BboyStudios97 u in bluff city middle?

  • @TheBym4eva No.

  • Hallmark makes the ornaments, last years was Mickey sitting at his high desk with his feather pen, and this year it's goofy as jacob marley, I collect them for my kids,,we never miss it..brings back so many memories.....thanks for upolading...

  • I love Christmas Carol- heck, I've even portrayed Scrooge in a stage adaption....

  • Simply great!

  • Thanx - Bring back such warm memories. Merry Christmas to all.

  • when the door this turned in to jacob marley and said scrooooooooooge that scared the shit out me.

  • my childhood. merry christmas all!

  • Lol, I used to watch this in church :) We watched this in my spanish class yesterday. Dang Mickey can speak spanish!!!!

  • This is iconic. I remember growing up in so. california and watching this Christmas eve, then we could select our one present and go to bed looking forward to christmas morning! Now I'm 27, and all the things I want cannot be acquired in a store, like a wonderful relationship and piece of mind or a hot boyfriend with a rockin bod. in short-nostalgia is good.

  • I remember watching this back in the late 80's

  • One of Nash's final performances as Donald. Rest in peace, you wonderful man.

  • This is such a warm Christmas special. The opening theme just makes your heart smile. Makes me think of snow and sitting in front of the tree by the fire. Simply amazing, it breaks my heart to no end that this doesn't come on TV anymore.

  • in 2:49 it sees at mickey is drunk!!!

  • I waited every christmas for this to come on tv. I haven't seen it since i was a kid. It's amazing how that warm and cozy childhood feeling sprung right back as soon as I started watching this. There's another childhood christmas cartoon i'd like to see, but I don't know the name of it. Maybe u guys can help. It was about three bears who hybernate for the winter, but the two cubs stay awake to see santa. One of the cubs name was "Na-nook," i think. Anyone know what i'm talking about?

  • @IanzGurrl Santa and the Three Bears

    watch?v=sxU1izWLNjg

  • @vDUBblues thank u, thank u, thank u! =)

  • @IanzGurrl

I remember that! Shit, i forgot the name too!

  • Thank you very much and a very Merry Christmas to the people who voiced the Disney characters back in the day: Cleareance Nash (Donald Duck); Wayne Allaine (Mickey Mouse); Eddie Carrol (Jiminy Cricket); and to those who recently passed away. Sorry I misspelled Alwine's last name--it was a mistake. And to Walt Disney himself.

  • I watch this on the same user channel every year. I've never said thanks for uploading it:]

  • Anyone know the name of the intro song?

  • @logan25wolves It's "Oh What a Merry Christmas Day" By Irwin Kostal & Frederick Searels. While other sources credit Walt Disney & Carl Stallings for this marvelous song. Sadly this song was never released on records, cassette tapes or CDs..

  • @bigg34691 Thank you!! I should have been more attentive and viewed the opening credits. It's a shame they never released the song, but I guess that's what we have dirpy for. Words cannot express how much I love this version of A Christmas Carol.

  • @logan25wolves Thanks! did you know there is a website where this song can be downloaded on a mp3 device? just type "Oh What A Merry Christmas Day mp3 download" and you find the website.

  • when i was a kid, i watched christmas vids year 'round... this one was my favorite

  • To me, this is one of the best Christmas Cartoons ever. I watched it every year as a kid.

I use to watch this so much I knew every word, and would repeat it verbatem as I watched it. My mom use to get tickeled.. This was when Cartoons was good.. I wouldn't give you a dime for the cartoons our kids have now.. Thank God for youtube lol.... So we old timers can watch these again.. haha.

  • @mddale31 It makes me kind of sad when I hear the opening song. Makes me miss Christmas of childhood past.

  • God dammit. I'm a fan of disney and now I'm fourteen but don't watch disney a lot but still try and watch a lot. disney brings back so much memories....toy story, mickey mouse, and all those other amazing disney movies. Please disney keep them alive :)

  • This brings back memories. Watched this on VHS alot when I was a kid.

  • One of my personal favorite Christmas specials EVER!

  • I'm thankful that you put this up, my recorded VHS is getting pretty worn out after over 26 years of play. thanks again!

  • @kelleydawn85 Lol so is mine of 24 yrs! Have to get it on DVD soon!

  • this scared the shizzel out of me when i was a kid :P

  • @NibbsterNibbit LOL, I know, especially the ending with Pete laughing evilly at the end. Ah, the memories, haha. Man, I miss being a kid.

  • This was the first version of the story I ever saw as a child

    Man do I miss this!

  • lol they used to play this on the 2nd Sunday of December on a wonderful of Disney.this is my childhood here!!

  • I still get that warm fuzzy feeling every time I hear the opening song.

  • @Madams1977 They really ought to put that song out somewhere on a Christmas CD. It's beautiful.

  • @snowangelnc I agree.

  • thanks for uploading this..i love it so much..

  • Where can I get those classic shorts that usually ran BEFORE the Christmas Carol? You know, where Donald takes on his nephews in a snowball fight? Or when Chip and Dale were in Mickey's tree?

  • @porterwake Search youtube I think I've seen the ones your talking about. I loved those two shorts.

  • @demonicprincess09 DTVzone has that version on his channel.

  • @porterwake I have the whole thing on video! So love it!!

  • 5:50 - 6:30 Now I know what to say to those pesky charity fundraisers who knock on my door every now and again..

  • 1983 Ralised is wery Good Cartoons

  • when he kicked Donald out of his office - whahwhahwa :D

  • I love the old style drawing they did for Disney, I wish they would bring it back.

  • @newreflection I know. That's what ruins the newer Disney movies for me.

  • i was never raised with or encouraged in any way to watch american tv or films as an English kid, but my cousins watched this every christmas eve. without fail. disney is in no way dear to me, infact it's saccharine turgidity mostly makes me lose faith in storytelling, and looking back on this as an adult, dickens was just another notch on the drawing board for Disney.inc., but right now im just pleased to have resolved what the fuck mickey mouse says @2:48 as 'thaw out' and not 'fault the ink'.

  • "Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is the darkest thing Disney"

Ahem...Black Cauldren with a skeleton zombie army, The Rescuers with kidnapping an orphan, The Rescuers Down Under with poaching, MOST Disney movies with parental abandonment/death, etc.

  • yea. but that's alright. we all die. in fact, walt disney itself is practically a hundred years old now~

And Uncle Walt (i.e. the essence of the mouse), Lillian (his wife; his "Minnie", as it were), & a few of their kids (like daughter Sharon) are already long-since dead. Walt was cremated, so unfortunately, he can't be rolling in his grave at how his company shills out garbage for profit now, but that's why fans of the classics must be heard, so as to not forget our lovely past.

  • awesome and I used to be terrified of the Goofy the ghost when I was like 6 or 7 although I saw it at my Grandmas when it was already really old ha ha so yeah practically none of my generation knows this :L

  • @MaidenGaaaal I saw it around then too! Im 15 now, and like 3 of my friends now about this. haha

  • @abci23billionmillion ha ha well at least I now know I'm not alone :')

  • lol if this was made today it would be pulled for having a scottish guy as the tight fisted scrooge. stupid PC

long live the OLD, PROPER Disney!

  • @GoldenbanjoDJ Yeah! I miss real Disney! You never see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, or Donald anymore. A few days ago I was able to find the Special Edition of The Lion King on DVD! Oh the childhood memory! Did you ever watch DTV?

  • You realise...if you give money to the poor...they won't be poor anymore! And if they're not poor anymore..then you won't have to raise money for them anymore...and if you don't have to raise money for them anymore...then you would be out of a job. Now gentlemen, don't ask me to put you out of a job..not on Christmas Eve! Great logic!

  • this is one of my childhood favs

  • I miss Wayne Allwine

  • I love Donald :) He may be my favorite cartoon character of all time

  • @perun1nj

Sadly Clarence Nash, Donald Duck's voice actor since 1934, died soon after this film was released

  • @snakes3425 I know, but he lives on through Donald

  • This, and the Muppet Christmas Carol remain some of the best renditions of Charles Dickens' classic.

  • perfect characters for the perfect christmas movie

  • I have to watch this every so often I mean this is Wayne Alwine's first performance as mickey I think it is right to honor him with watching this.Plus I still believe he was the best mickey and that no one will be able to top him.

  • @Cherucha I don't deny that either! ;)

  • @Cherucha: Except Uncle Walt himself, since he voiced his alter-ego first & foremost. Ironic that Mickey & Minnie are the alter-egos of Walt & Lillain Disney, and were, until 2009, voiced by the also married Wayne Allwine & Russi Taylor.

  • 1:50 to skip intro

  • Best Christmas special EVER!

  • I can Make voice Like Mickey mouse Is Really Fun

  • humbug !! ahahahaha :D

  • The scene with the steps always scared the hell out of me as a kid.

  • The original Disneys A Christmas Carol actually

was done on vinyl record early 70's.

That's a record that I wish I had a spare copy of now!

  • Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year too!

  • I wish this was on TV more often at Christmastime; it's been at least seven years since I've seen this.

  • This is an absolute must to watch on Christmas morning with the family :3

  • Whatever Christmas special "Shake It Up" has, it will NEVER be as good as THIS Christmas special!

  • RIP Wayne Allwine.

  • soooo ducks eat plump goose? ;)

  • was it just me or was everyone else who saw this as kids completely scared shitless by goofy as a ghost :S

  • @TheGudZeBadAnDaFozzy no its not just you. between you and me (and whoever else reads this comment) that part still scares the shit out of me, hehehe.

  • @TheGudZeBadAnDaFozzy I tried not to think of the scene when Marley was sneaking up on Scrooge when he walked up the stairs when I would go to sleep as a child! Yeah

  • @TheGudZeBadAnDaFozzy Yeah! For awhile it was something I tried not to think about when I went to bed at night

  • @TheGudZeBadAnDaFozzy Nah but seeing the part where Scrooge is hanging on to a root while struggling to avoid falling into a coffin full of fire is the part that always made Me feel uneasy as a kid every year when this would air on Christmas Eve.

  • Soooo Marley can walk through the wall, but he slips on a cane...........

    .......No comment.

  • THANK YOU! :D

  • @Therealwhatshethinks What's your problem?

  • 7 people shall carry heavy chains for all eternity.

  • 2 shilings and a hay penny, isn't a hay penny worth like half a penny?

  • @Talongirl333 yea

  • The part where Jacon Marley/Goofy's ghost follows Scrooge up the stairs used to scare me as a kid. Now I can't help but laugh, especially when he trips over Scrooge's cane! OMG so hilarious!

  • 7 people are Scrooges

  • @MegaJamieV 9 people have no heart

  • LOL, I THOT HE SAID, MICKEY, WAT ARE U DOING WIT A PIECE OF POO

  • They were great at voice overs for the worlds most famous cartoon characters! I was born in 1984 and remember them for a very long time. I was brought up on Disney
