  • Thank you for the tutorial. The first video that really taught me how to play this song.

  • steve hacker! rulez

  • what tunning????

  • What is the name of that color of your guitar? I seen one at a store but they didn't know the colors name... I think it is very cool

  • Great lesson. I laughed so hard when you said "the Leigh Mullis Band plays it like this...". I thought my computer was having a 'moment' till you said just kidding.

  • Thanks! Your video is very useful and easy to follow.

    Nice work.

  • very VERY good!

  • my guitar sucks grrrr

  • @BerkLeeDrm LOL! Why do you say that?

  • @SteveHacker cuz when I bar up on the 9th fret key strings dont resonate so good, its only a jackson, needs to be set up,bought it for 50 from a high schooler.Had strats and tele's and martins...lost em to the pawn man cuz of my bad habits......Im a drummer by trade from way back anywho, been learning guitar for 40 years hahahah

  • I have the chords down but can you show the strumming?

  • Excellent! As a beginner with breakfast links for fingers this actually gives me encouragement. I'm kind of an internet Luddite so is there a web site that I can subscribe to video lessons? Do you really give lessons live and if so how does one enroll?

  • @TheWileymc Thx! I don't have a subscription lesson web site up yet,but I have given it some thought.Oh,yes indeed I teach privately! It's my "Day Job"!LOL! :) Where are you located?I'm in SW Georgia&commute for music biz in Nashville,Los Angeles, etc.,but even if you are not close,I'm kicking off my online web-cam guitar lessons soon.Only in the experimental phase at the moment, but trial web cam lessons are going well :) Go to my web site listed on my profile page for various ways to reach me :)

  • @SteveHacker

  • is there a 2# part??

  • Thanks Steve! You rock. Notice friends his right hand technique, does not stop moving, nice steady rhythm comes from that. The groove is from the left hand muting... Tricky to get!

  • nice right wrist technics.

  • I love the way you teach stuff, Steve. Great job!

  • Great lesson (#1). Would there happen to be a lesson #2? I'll be attempting #1 and I'm sure it will be taking 'me' a while to get it. Thanks for the vid.

  • tet

  • wow...love this...will def. be stopping back to check out your other vids...<3

  • The chords are no problem now, thank you very much. Will you please do a discussion on that particular strum you're using? I've ran across that in several things and need a little help with it.

  • so good....so helpful to watch.....5 stars!

  • OMG! Do you know how many YEARS I have been trying to figure this one out?!

I have always used the "C" configuration on the fourth fret for the E and just lazily barred the A at the fifth fret. Yeah, pretty "hollow" sounding...

I just tried it "your" way and it totally ROCKS! Going to take a bit of getting used to, but I think this is MUCH better sounding! See, even an old character such as I can still learn "new" stuff...LOL.

    Once again, Steve, THANK YOU!

    Rick

  • PS: I fully agree with you about the open sixth string on the E. It HAS to be there! Same with the open fifth string on the A.

Keep up the great work, my friend!

    Rick

  • Thanks Rick! Means a lot to know I'm making a difference. Glad you enjoy it. I have some new stuff coming soon, and a TON of requests that I'm sure I'll never catch up on, but will enjoy trying :-)

  • Indeed, these instructional vid's ARE making a difference. I like them so much that I have been sharing them with my guitar playing friends! There is much to learn here, and the way you present it makes it easy to learn.

I know about getting dug in and buried under projects...LOL. Been there, my friend!

I will surely be looking for any vid's you can post.:)

    Rick

  • Perfect! Got it...You da' MAN!!

  • Awesome Steve, thanks! What I meant to ask is strictly on the strumming; after the initial E hammer, it's difficult to hear how you strum the next measure: is it simply quickly up and down for five counts or is there something else going on? Appreciate your thoughts!

  • You may be trying to dig too deeply into the number of times or number of counts for the right hand, but rather, what is important is to keep a steady up and down 16th note strumming pattern. If you'll notice in the video, my right hand more or less doesn't deviate from straight up and down 16ths, and instead, the LEFT HAND dictates the rhythm by a RHYTHMIC SQUEEZING technique; relax the squeeze and you get percussive strikes, and squeeze and you get the chords themselves. Hope that helps :-)

  • Way cool! Been trying to get this for years!

Now I have the notes; how about the strumming; the sound is perfect but I can't tell if you are pulling off the original E hammer; could you please elaborate on the strumming ( is it straight up and down just faster or are there pulls, etc.) Sure have enjoyed the Mullis work!

  • YOU'RE THE MAN!

  • Thanks man! I have more guitar teaching videos to post, but I'm dealing with some data corruption problems right now. I'll post them asap though...Take care...Steve

  • Sweet Steve!

    =)

  • Thanks man :-)

  • Cool. Have a lot of thanks..

The rhythm was relay tricky to me. After your lesson it becomes finaly good..

  • awesome ! ! play jazz please
