@telesniper2 Hmm, my router is bigger again. It's just a huge server with DHCP properties attached to a switch. Of course, it has all the other benefits like NAT, firewall, DNS and general storage space so I can't really complain.
whats thats, LED's, spreaypaint, an overdone video editing with an obnoxious song? who would've thought. I mean, its alright, but you could communicate that with two photos
It'll certainly use more power, 200watt PSU, instead of a 20watt transformer, but you get so much more bang for your buck.
We used to have a Belkin POS in our house of 9 people. It crashed all the time when torrenting, had a useless interface and virtually no features. That all changed when we put in a IPCop distro PC in, not had any network outages, so many configurable options, and the case we got was so pretty.
This wasn't the original IBM PC, but whatever. Nice work with the colors and lights. Though if I was you, I would clean the computer up and keep it as a PC since I'm a big collector.
I like the part where we never get to see your FreeBSD running.

the cool way to use a old hardware, and give it a great work!

Kills the vxWorks based Linksys routers that freak out when they have "too many" connections.
pcfxer 3 years ago
I did the same with an old NetScout Fast Ethernet Probe. I didn't spraypaint it, but using old systems for new tasks sure can be fun.
Of course, I overkilled mine by adding:
2x Digital 4-Port 21143 PCI Cards
Allied Telesyn AT-2560FX PCI Card
Ralink 802.11g PCI Card
D-Link DGE-500T PCI Card
3Com 3C509B ISA Card
Quantum 6.8Gb IDE Hard Drive
384MB Memory
...and an old ISA Video Card. :)

Orange is good for atleast a 10% performance bump.

A nicely done job is the only reason I didn't give you one star, but really a waste of a video. Would have been more useful if it were a webpage.

any idea if this runs hotter (uses more power) then say a router priced at $90-$120? Good colour choice.
